Progression of diethylnitrosamine-induced hepatic carcinogenesis in carnitine-depleted rats

AIm:To investigate whether carnitine deficiency is a risk factor during the development of diethylnitrosamine (DENA)-induced hepatic carcinogenesis. mETHODS:A total of 60 male Wistar albino rats were divided into six groups with 10 animals in each *** in group 1(control group)received a single intraperitoneal(i.p.)injection of normal saline. Animals in group 2(carnitine-supplemented group) were given L-carnitine(200 mg/kg per day)in drinking water for 8 *** in group 3(carnitine-depleted group)were given D-carnitine(200 mg/kg per day)and mildronate(200 mg/kg per day)in drinking water for 8 *** in group 4(DENA group)were injected with a single dose of DENA(200 mg/kg,i.p.)and 2 wk later received a single dose of carbon tetrachloride(2 mL/kg) by gavage as 1:1 dilution in corn *** in group 5(DENA-carnitine depleted group)received the same treatment as group 3 and group *** in group 6 (DENA-carnitine supplemented group)received the same treatment as group 2 and group ***:Administration of DENA resulted in a significant increase in alanine transaminase(ALT), gamma-glutamyl transferase(G-GT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),total bilirubin,thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS)and total nitrate/ nitrite(NOx)and a significant decrease in reduced glutathione(GSH),glutathione peroxidase(GSHPx), catalase(CAT)and total carnitine content in liver *** the carnitine-depleted rat model,DENA induced a dramatic increase in serum ALT,G-GT,ALP and total bilirubin,as well as a progressive reduction in total carnitine content in liver ***, L-carnitine supplementation resulted in a complete reversal of the increase in liver enzymes,TBARS and NOx,and a decrease in total carnitine,GSH,GSHPx, and CAT induced by DENA,compared with the control *** examination of liver tissues confirmed the biochemical data,where L-carnitine prevented DENA-induced hepatic carcinogenesis while D-carnitine-mildronate aggravated DENA-

Hybrid IPOm: A Novel Technique for the management of Incisional Hernia

Background and Aim: The incidence of incisional hernias has been reported to be around 15%. In the present scenario, a wide array of surgical procedures are available for their better management. In this study, we intend to share our experience with one novel technique, “Hybrid IPOm (Intraperitoneal onlay meshplasty)” as a management option for a selected cohort of patients. methods: This prospective study was undertaken during January 2019 to July 2023 at King Abdullah medical city, makkah. A total of 51 cases were selected for Hybrid IPOm repair as per inclusion criteria;medium sized (4 - 10 cm) hernia defects;uncomplicated hernias;age more than 18 years. The follow-up period of the patients varied from 6 months to 4 years. The operation commenced with open hernia dissection, mesh deployment into abdomen, defect closure and then conversion to laparoscopy for the posterior mesh placement. Results: A total of 51 cases were repaired successfully with this technique. 48 out of 51 cases were incisional hernias secondary to some primary procedure done either for hernias itself or some other intra-abdominal pathology. The three cases were primary hernias falling in medium to large category with unaesthetic overlying skin. The age range was 19 to 72 years. The mean (range) operative time was 135 (90 - 240) min, and the average blood loss was 70 ml. The mean (range) hospital stay was 3 (2 - 11) days. All patients returned to routine work within 2 - 3 weeks of surgery. The median follow-up was 15 (6 - 48) months. Of the 51 cases, 3 patients developed seroma (managed conservatively), 1 patient developed a large hematoma (needed evacuation), and 1 patient developed superficial wound infection (managed with antibiotics). Two patients had recurrences;one patient had previously failed multiple repairs, and the other developed a postoperative hematoma. None of our patients had an iatrogenic bowel injury. 为研究稻谷的石墨烯低温远红外干燥特性及其对稻谷干燥品质的影响,以辐射温度、排粮流量和除湿风量为影响因素,以整精米率和应力裂纹指数增值为评价指标,用自制的循环式石墨烯低温远红外干燥机进行稻谷干燥试验,通过BBD(Box-Behnken设计)响应面法,分析了低温远红外干燥对稻谷干燥品质的影响以及工艺参数优化。结果表明:影响稻谷干燥特性和品质的最主要因素是辐射温度,其次是排粮流量和除湿风量。随着辐射温度的升高,稻谷干燥速率和应力裂纹指数增值逐步增大,整精米率则逐步降低。与同温度的热风干燥相比,石墨烯低温远红外干燥平均干燥速率和干燥品质均有显著提高。经优化后,稻谷最佳石墨烯低温远红外干燥工艺条件为:辐射温度43℃、排粮流量4 kg/min、除湿风量193 m^(3)/h,此时应力裂纹指数增值为9,整精米率为79.75%,稻谷干燥品质最佳。这说明利用石墨烯低温远红外干燥稻谷,可以明显提高干燥速率并改善稻谷干燥品质。

为研究稻谷的石墨烯低温远红外干燥特性及其对稻谷干燥品质的影响，以辐射温度、排粮流量和除湿风量为影响因素，以干燥速率和应力裂纹指数增值为评价指标，用自制的循环式石墨烯低温远红外干燥机进行稻谷干燥试验，通过BBD(Box-Behnken设计)响应面法，分析了低温远红外干燥对稻谷干燥品质的影响以及工艺参数优化。结果表明：影响稻谷干燥特性和品质的最主要因素是辐射温度，其次是排粮流量和除湿风量。随着辐射温度的升高，稻谷的干燥速率和应力裂纹指数增值逐步增大，整精米率则逐步降低。与同温度的热风干燥相比，石墨烯低温远红外干燥的平均干燥速率和干燥品质均有显著提高。经优化后，稻谷最佳石墨烯低温远红外干燥工艺条件为：辐射温度43℃、排粮流量4kg/min、除湿风量193m3/h，此时应力裂纹指数增值为9，整精米率为79.75%，稻谷干燥品质最佳。这说明利用石墨烯低温远红外干燥稻谷，可以明显提高干燥速率并改善稻谷干燥品质。

magnetic,dielectric and electrical modulus of Ce^(3+) doped cobalt-magnesium ferrite nanoparticles

In this work,the magnetic,dielectric properties and electric modulus of Ce^(3+) substituted cobaltmagnesium(Co_(0.7)mg_(0.3)Ce_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_4)(labeled as CmCF) ferrite nanoparticles were investigated in *** magnetization decreases from 50.05 to 34.87 emu/g for further substituting Ce^(3+) ***,coercivity increases from 738.22 Gs for the CmCFO sample to 912.10 Gs for the CmCF2 sample,then decreases monotonically to 762.1 Gs for the CmCF5 *** cerium content and particle size play important roles in controlling the magnetization and coercivity of the CmCF *** CmCF nanoferrites are suitable for microwave applications since their high-frequency response ranges from 7.72 to 11.07 *** CmCF nanoferrites' dielectric parameter dispersion exhibits normal *** pristine Co-mg nanoferrite only has ε' value of 28.25,but the nanoferrite mCmF2 has ε' value of365.03,with an enhancing ratio of 1192%.The conduction mechanism of the mCmF nanoferrites was determined by fitting the σ_(ac) results via the Jonscher power *** 653 K,large polaron tunnelling is thought to be responsible for this conduction process,which is followed by electron barrier hopping at higher ***-Cole diagrams at different temperatures,assuring the contributions of the grains and their boundaries at lower temperatures(653 K) and only the grains at higher *** on our results,the CmCF nanoferrites hold magnetic and semiconducting nature,which can be used in magnetic devices and dielectrics in lower-frequencies or conductors in higher-frequencies.
