In this pa.er, the ma.neto hydrodyna.ic (MHD) flow of viscous fluid in a.cha.nel with non-pa.a.lel pla.es is studied. The governing pa.tia. differentia. equa.ion wa. tra.sformed into a.system of dimensionless non-simila. coupled ordina.y differentia. equa.ion. The tra.sformed conserva.ions equa.ions were solved by using new a.gorithm. Ba.ica.ly, this new a.gorithm depends ma.nly on the Ta.lor expa.sion a.plica.ion with the coefficients of power series resulting from integra.ing the order differentia. equa.ion. Results obta.ned from new a.gorithm a.e compa.ed with the results of numerica. Ra.ge-Kutta.fourth-order a.gorithm with help of the shooting a.gorithm. The compa.ison revea.ed tha. the resulting solutions were excellent a.reement. Thermo-diffusion a.d diffusion-thermo effects were investiga.ed to a.a.yze the beha.ior of tempera.ure a.d concentra.ion profile. a.so the influences of the first order chemica. rea.tion a.d the ra.e of ma.s a.d hea. tra.sfer were studied. The computed a.a.ytica. solution result for the velocity, tempera.ure a.d concentra.ion distribution with the effect of va.ious importa.t dimensionless pa.a.eters wa. a.a.yzed a.d discussed gra.hica.ly.

The problem of two-dimensiona. stea.y flow of a. incompressible second-order viscoela.tic fluid coupled with hea. tra.sfer between pa.a.lel pla.es wa. considered. a.viscous dissipa.ion function wa. included in the energy equa.ion. When the ela.tic property of the fluid is wea.er, the zeroth-order a.d first-order a.proxima.e governing equa.ions were obta.ned by mea.s of the perturba.ion method. To understa.d the beha.ior of flow nea. the tube wa.l, the ha.f-doma.n wa. divided into two sub-doma.ns, in which one is a.thin la.er nea. the wa.l ca.led the inner doma.n a.d the rema.nder is ca.led the outer doma.n. The governing equa.ions in the inner doma.n a.d in the outer doma.n were discretized respectively by using the Differentia. Qua.ra.ure Method (DQM). The ma.ching conditions a. the interfa.e between the inner a.d outer doma.ns were presented. a. itera.ive method for solving these discretized equa.ions wa. given in this pa.er. The numerica. results obta.ned a.ree with existing results.

This pa.er proposes a.new a.proa.h tha. combines the reduced differentia. tra.sform method (RDTM), a.resumma.ion method ba.ed on the Ya.g tra.sform, a.d a.Pa.é a.proxima.t to the kinetica.ly reduced loca. Na.ier-Stokes equa.ion to find a.proxima.e solutions to the problem of lid-driven squa.e ca.ity flow. The new a.proa.h, ca.led PYRDM, considera.ly improves the convergence ra.e of the trunca.ed series solution of RDTM a.d a.so is ba.ed on a.simple process tha. yields highly precise estima.es. The numerica. results a.hieved by this method a.e compa.ed to ea.lier studies’ results. Our results indica.e tha. this method is more efficient a.d precise in genera.ing a.a.ytic solutions. Furthermore, it provides highly precise solutions with good convergence tha. is simple to a.ply for grea. Reynolds a.d low Ma.h numbers. Moreover, the new solution’ gra.hs demonstra.e the new a.proa.h’s va.idity, usefulness, a.d necessity.

In this work, a.proxima.e a.a.ytica. solutions to the lid-driven squa.e ca.ity flow problem, which sa.isfied two-dimensiona. unstea.y incompressible Na.ier-Stokes equa.ions, a.e presented using the kinetica.ly reduced loca. Na.ier-Stokes equa.ions. Reduced differentia. tra.sform method a.d perturba.ion-itera.ion a.gorithm a.e a.plied to solve this problem. The convergence a.a.ysis wa. discussed for both methods. The numerica. results of both methods a.e given a. some Reynolds numbers a.d low Ma.h numbers, a.d compa.ed with results of ea.lier studies in the review of the litera.ures. These two methods a.e ea.y a.d fa.t to implement, a.d the results a.e close to ea.h other a.d other numerica. results, so it ca. be sa.d tha. these methods a.e useful in finding a.proxima.e a.a.ytica. solutions to the unstea.y incompressible flow problems a. low Ma.h numbers.

The differentia. qua.ra.ure method (DQM) ha. been a.plied successfully to solve numerica.ly ma.y problems in the fluid mecha.ics. But it is only limited to the flow problems in regula. regions. a. the sa.e time, here is no upwind mecha.ism to dea. with the convective property of the fluid flow in tra.itiona. DQ method. a.loca. differentia. qua.ra.ure method owning upwind mecha.ism (ULDQM) wa. given to solve the coupled problem of incompressible viscous flow a.d hea. tra.sfer in a. irregula. region. For the problem of flow pa.t a.contra.tion cha.nel whose bounda.y does not pa.a.lel to coordina.e direction, the sa.isfa.tory numerica. solutions were obta.ned by using ULDQM with a.few grid points. The numerica. results show tha. the ULDQM possesses a.va.ta.es including well convergence, less computa.iona. workloa. a.d stora.e a. compa.ed with the low-order finite difference method.
