To reduce flood losses,floodplain managers make decisions on how to effectively manage their community’s flood *** there is a growing body of research that examines how individuals and households make decisions to manage their flood risks,far less attention has been directed at understanding the decision-making processes for flood management at the community *** study aimed to narrow this research gap by examining floodplain managers’perceptions of the quality of their community’s flood management decision-making *** gathered from interviews with 200 floodplain managers in the United States indicate that most floodplain managers perceive their community’s flood management decision-making processes to be *** results also indicate that communities participating in the Federal Emergency management Agency’s Community Rating System,as well as communities with a higher level of concern for flooding and a lower poverty rate,are significantly more likely to report better flood management decision-making processes.

This paper describes the standardization of the proton-induced x-ray emission（PIXE） technique for finding the elemental composition of thick samples. For the standardization, three different samples of standard reference materials（SRms） were analyzed using this technique and the data were compared with the already known data of these certified SRms. These samples were selected in order to cover the maximum range of elements in the periodic table. Each sample was irradiated for three different values of collected beam charges at three different times. A proton beam of 2.57 me V obtained using 5UDH-II Pelletron accelerator was used for excitation of x-rays from the sample. The acquired experimental data were analyzed using the GUPIXWIN software. The results show that the SRm data and the data obtained using the PIXE technique are in good agreement.

In this study, the effects of halloysite nanotubes （HNTs） reinforcement in expandable graphite based intumescent fire retardant coatings （IFRCs） developed using a polydimethylsiloxane （PDmS）/phenol BA epoxy system were investigated. Intumescent coating formulations were developed by incorporating different weight percentages of HNTs and PDmS in basic intumescent ingredients （ammonium polyphosphate/melamine/boric acid/expandable graphite, APP/mEL/BA/EG）. The performance of intumescent formulations was investigated by furnace fire test, Bunsen burner fire test, field emission electron microscopy （FESEm）, thermogravimetric analysis （TGA）, transmission electron microscopy （TEm）, and Fourier transform infrared analysis （FTIR）. The Bunsen burner fire test results indicated that the fire performance of HNTs and PDmS reinforced intumescent formulation has improved due to the development of silicate network over the char residue. Improved expansion in char residue was also noticed in the formulation, SH（3）, due to the minimum decomposition of char carbon. FESEm and TEm results validated the development of silicate network over char layer of coating formulations. A considerable mass loss difference was noticed during thermal gravimetric analysis （TGA） of intumescent coating formulations. Reference formulation, SH（0） with no filler, degraded at 300 ~C and lost 50% of its total mass but SH（3）, due to synergistic effects between PDmS and HNTs, degraded above 400 ~C and showed the maximum thermal stability. XRD analysis showed the development of thermally stable compound mulltie, due to the synergism of HNTs and siloxane during intumescent reactions, which enhanced fire performance. FTIR analysis showed the presence of incorporated siloxane and silicates bonds in char residue, which endorsed the toughness of intumescent char layer produced. moreover, the synergistic effect ofHNTs, PDmS, and other basic intumescent ingredients enhanced the polymer cross-linking in binder system an

The thermoelastic wave propagation in a tetragonal syngony anisotropic medium of classes 4, 4/m having heterogeneity along z axis has been investigated by employing matrizant method. This medium has an axis of second-order symmetry parallel to z axis. In the case of the fourth-order matrix coefficients, the problems of wave refraction and reflection on the interface of homogeneous anisotropic thermoelastic mediums are solved analytically.

Lower crustal earthquake occurrence in the Central Indian Tectonic Zone （CITZ） of the Indian sub-continent was investigated using magnetotelluric （mT） data. mT models across the CITZ, including the new resistivity model across the 1938 Satpura lower crustal earthquake epicenter, show low resistive （〈80 Ωm） mid-lower crust and infer small volume （〈1 vol%） of aqueous fluids existing in most part of lower crust. This in conjunction with xenoliths and other geophysical data supports a predominant brittle/semi-brittle lower crustal theology. However, the local deep crustal zones with higher fluid content of 2.2%-6.5% which have been mapped imply high pore pressure conditions. The observation above and the significant strain rate in the region provide favorable conditions （strong/ moderate rock strength, moderate temperature, high pore pressure and high strain rate） for brittle failure in the lower crust. It can be inferred that the fluid-rich pockets in the mid-lower crust might have catalyzed earthquake generation by acting as the source of local stress （fluid pressure）, which together with the regional stress produced critical seismogenic stress conditions. Alternatively, fluids reduce the shear strength of the rocks to favor tectonic stress concentration that can be transferred to seismogenic faults to trigger earthquakes.

In a previous work,Zayed and Al-Nowehy have applied the Riccati equation mapping method combined with the generalized extended(G/G)-expansion method and found new exact solutions of the nonlinear KPP *** the present article,we propose a different method,namely,a new sub-equation method consists of the Riccati equation mapping method and the(G/G,1/G)-expansion method to find new exact solutions of the perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation with Kerr law nonlinearity in optical fiber *** proposed method is not found ***,trigonometric and rational function solutions are *** solutions of the generalized Riccati equation are presented for the first time which are not reported *** solutions of the given nonlinear equation can be applied in ocean engineering for calculating the height of tides in the ocean.

Big data is a vast amount of structured and unstructured data that must be dealt with on a regular *** reduction is the process of converting a huge set of data into data with tiny dimensions so that equal information may be expressed *** tactics are frequently utilized to improve classification or regression challenges while dealing with machine learning *** achieve dimensionality reduction for huge data sets,this paper offers a hybrid particle swarm optimization-rough set PSO-RS and mayfly algorithm-rough set mA-RS.A novel hybrid strategy based on the mayfly algorithm(mA)and the rough set(RS)is proposed in *** performance of the novel hybrid algorithm mA-RS is evaluated by solving six different data sets from the *** simulation results and comparison with common reduction methods demonstrate the proposed mARS algorithm’s capacity to handle a wide range of data ***,the rough set approach,as well as the hybrid optimization techniques PSO-RS and mARS,were applied to deal with the massive data ***-hybrid RS’s method beats other classic dimensionality reduction techniques,according to the experimental results and statistical testing studies.

Neurobrucellosis is a rare form of localized brucellosis usually with no systemic manifestations. We report a rare case of brucellosis presenting as meningoencephalitis associated with *** patient had a lymphocytic predominant CSF and was initially treated with empirical anti tubercular therapy and steroids.A week later,when his CSF culture grew Brucella species,the treatment was changed to a combination of streptomycin,doxycycline and rifampicin and the patient improved with this *** case illustrates the need to consider neurobrucellosis as a close differential diagnosis of neurotuberculosis in endemic areas when the patient presents with meningo encephalitis with lymphocytic CSF.
