Non-Newtonian is a type of fluid that does not comply with the viscosity under the Law of Newton and is being widely used in industrial *** include those related to chemical industries,cosmetics manufacturing,pharmaceutical field,food processing,as well as oil and gas *** inability of the conventional equations of Navier–Stokes to accurately depict rheological behavior for certain fluids led to an emergence study for non-Newtonian fluids’*** line with this,a mathematical model of forced convective flow on non-Newtonian Eyring Powell fluid under temperature-dependent viscosity(TDV)circumstance is *** fluid model is embedded with the Newtonian heating(NH)boundary condition as a heating circumstance and is assumed to move over a stretching sheet acting *** appropriate similarity variables,the respective model was converted into ordinary differential equations(ODE),which was later solved utilizing the Keller box *** present model is validated by comparing the existing output in literature at certain special limiting cases,where the validation results display a firm *** current outputs for the proposed model are shown in tabular and graphical form for variation of skin friction plus Nusselt number,velocity and temperature distribution,respectively.

Optimization of moderator assembly for neutron flux measurement:experimental and theoretical approaches

A moderator of paraffin wax assembly has been demonstrated where its thickness can be optimized to thermalize fast neutrons. The assembly is used for measuring fast neutron flux of a neutron probe at different neutron energies, using BF03(U10and 200) and3He(U0.500)neutron detectors. The paraffin wax thickness was optimized at 6 cm for the neutron probe which contains an Am–Be neutron source. The experimental data are compared with Monte Carlo simulation results using MCNP5 version 1.4. Neutron flux comparison and neutron activation techniques are used for measuring neutron flux of the neutron probe to validate the optimum paraffin moderator thickness in the assembly. The neutron fluxes are measured at(1.17 ± 0.09) 9 105 and(1.19 ± 0.1) 9 105n/s, being in agreement with the simulated values. The moderator assembly can easily be utilized for essential requirements of neutron flux measurements.

Objective:To discuss the prevalence,clinical and laboratory presentations of relapse typhoid ***:All relapse cases were reviewed to identify the clinical and laboratory presentation of the relapse typhoid ***:Two hundred and forty six patients were admitted to a teaching tertiary hospital in North-eastern state of Malaysia and fourteen(5.69%) relapse cases were *** duration of relapse after the patient was discharged was(25.0±9.9) *** patients presented with fever,diarrhoea,headache,abdominal pain and constipation. The duration of fever before admission in the initial episode[(8.6±4.2) d]was significantly longer than the relapse episode[(5.0±2.5) d](P=0.019).Four patients have hepatomegaly in initial episode and ten in relapse episode(P=0.852).The defervescence days of initial episodes was (3.2±2.2) d,comparing to relapse episode[(2.0±1.8) d]which was statistically not significant (P=0.124).Conclusion:Assumption of the relapse typhoid fever is milder comparing to original episodes based on observation and is not supported by statistical analysis.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the inhibitive efficacy of Nymphoides Indica(L.) Kuntze rhizome extract onα-glucosidase and on cross-link formation of advanced glycation end products(AGEs).METHODS: The plant extracts were prepared by cold maceration and fractionated in solvents of diverse polarity. The in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition assay, fluorescence spectrometry and SDS-PAGE analysis was performed for antiglycation ***: During α-glucosidase inhibition assay significant inhibition by chloroform(0.43 mg/mL)and methanol fractions(0.66 mg/mL) was *** the AGEs inhibition assay, both oxidative(BSA-MGO) and non-oxidative(BSA-glucose)modes were employed. The inhibition of AGEs by total extract was considered moderate(IC_(50)0.10 mg/mL) as a result of non-oxidative mode, whereas in case of oxidative mode(BASA-MGO) no activity was recorded. Among fractions the methanolic fraction presented significant results both in oxidative(IC_(50)0.01 mg/mL) and non-oxidative modes(IC_(50) 0.3 mg/mL). Likewise the ethyl acetate fraction was more active in non-oxidative mode(IC_(50)0.04 mg/mL) compared to oxidative mode(IC_(50)0.32 mg/mL).During assay for inhibition of cross-link formation,the chloroform fraction significantly inhibited cross-link formation in a dose dependent ***: It was finally concluded that N. Indica rhizome extract possesses significant properties that inhibit α-glucosidase, and AGEs cross-link formation.

Negative effect of Ni on PtHY in n-pentane isomerization evidenced by IR and ESR studies

Ni/PtHY with different Ni loadings was prepared by impregnating HY with hexachloroplatinic acid solution and Ni2＋/N,N-dimethylformamide solution. An increase in the Ni loading decreased the crystallinity, specific surface area and meso-micropores of the catalysts. Ni interacted with hydroxyl groups to produce IR absorption bands at 3740-3500 cm-1, Increasing Ni loadings resulted in a decrease in the intensities of the broad bands at 3730-3500 cm-1 and the sharp band at 3740 cm-1 with simultaneous development of new absorbance band at 3700 cm-1 that was attributed to （-OH）Ni. The acidity of the samples did not significantly change with Ni loadings up to 1.0 wt%, which indicated that Ni mostly interacts with non-acidic silanol groups （terminal- and structural-defect OH groups）. The presence of Ni decreased the activity of PtHY toward the isomerization of n-pentane because of a decrease in the number of active protonic-acid sites that formed from molecular hydrogen. IR and ESR studies confirmed that Pt facilitated the formation of protonic-acid sites from molecular hydrogen, whereas Ni, even when combined with Pt, didn＇t exhibit such ability. The absence of protonic-acid sites from molecular hydrogen significantly decreased the yield of iso-pentane and markedly increased the cracking products.

Photon absorption parameters such as mass attenuation coefficients(μ_m),molar extinction coefficients(ε),total molecular(σ_(t,m)),atomic(σ_(t,a))and electronic(σ_(t,el))cross sections,half-value layers(X_(1/2)),tenth-value layers(X_(1/10)),mean free paths(λ),effective atomic numbers(Z_(eff)),and effective electron densities(N_(el))were estimated for defatted soy flour(DSF),soy protein concentrate(SPC),and soy protein isolate(SPI)-based Rhizophora *** composites substituted with 10 wt%sodium hydroxide(NaOH)and 0,5,10,and 15 wt%itaconic acid polyamidoamine-epichlorohydrin(IA-PAE)*** composition was assessed using ultrahigh-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(UHR-FESEM-EDX).The interaction parameters were evaluated for K_(α1)photons at16.59,17.46,21.21,and 25.26 keV,employing a low-energy germanium(LEGe)detector system and an~(241)Amγ-ray source.X-ray diffraction characterization revealed an amorphous phase in the developed particleboard *** DSF15',SPC15',and SPI15'exhibited the highest values ofμ_m,ε,σ_(t,m),Zeff,and N_(el)among all of the studied particleboard samples,within the range of measured photon *** addition,all of the modified samples exhibited lower X_(1/2),X_(1/10),λ,σ_(t,a),andσ_(t,el)than the unmodified samples,with DSF-,SPC-,and SPI/NaOH/Rhizophora spp./IA-PAE(15 wt%),indicating insignificant *** current results of the particleboard samples'analysis can be useful for medical radiation applications and shielding research.

Climate change is one of the critical determinants affecting life cycles and transmission of most infectious agents,including malaria,cholera,dengue fever,hand,foot,and mouth disease(HFMD),and the recent Corona-virus *** has been associated with a growing number of outbreaks resulting in fatal complications since the late *** outbreaks may result from a combination of rapid population growth,climate change,socioeconomic changes,and other lifestyle ***,the modeling of climate variability and HFMD remains unclear,particularly in statistical theory *** statistical relationship between HFMD and climate factors has been widely studied using generalized linear and additive *** dealing with time-series data with clustered variables such as HFMD with clustered states,the independence principle of both modeling approaches may be ***,a Generalized Additive Mixed Model(GAMM)is used to investigate the relationship between HFMD and climate factors in *** model is improved by using a first-order autoregressive term and treating all Malaysian states as a random *** method is preferred as it allows states to be modeled as random effects and accounts for time series data *** findings indicate that climate variables such as rainfall and wind speed affect HFMD cases in *** risk of HFMD increased in the subsequent two weeks with rainfall below 60 mm and decreased with rainfall exceeding 60 ***,a two-week lag in wind speeds between 2 and 5 m/s reduced HFMD's *** results also show that HFMD cases rose in Malaysia during the inter-monsoon and southwest monsoon seasons but fell during the northeast *** study's outcomes can be used by public health officials and the general public to raise awareness,and thus,implement effective preventive measures.

Objective:To isolate and characterize RNA aptamers that are specific to human CD36 protein using systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment(SELEX)technology to identify candidates for adjunct therapy to reverse the binding of Plasmodiuminfected ***:RNA aptamers were isolated using nitrocellulose membrane-based SELEX and binding analysis was screened using an electrophoretic mobility shift assay and enzyme-linked oligonucleotide ***:Thirteen cycles of nitrocellulose membrane-based SELEX yielded three aptamers(RC60,RC25,RC04)exhibiting high binding against CD36 protein as shown on electrophoretic mobility shift *** sequence analysis revealed a G-quadruplex sequence within all the isolated aptamers that might contribute to aptamer binding and thermodynamic *** specificity assay further showed that RC60 and RC25 were highly specific to *** competitive inhibition assay demonstrated that RC60 and RC25 shared a similar binding epitope recognized by m Ab FA6-152,a specific monoclonal antibody against ***:RC60 and RC25 are promising candidates as anticytoadherence for severe malaria adjunct therapy.

Experimental investigation of the effects of various parameters on viscosity reduction of heavy crude by oil-water emulsion

The effects of water content, shear rate, temperature, and solid particle concentration on viscosity reduction （VR） caused by forming stable emulsions were investigated using Omani heavy crude oil. The viscosity of the crude oil was initially measured with respect to shear rates at different temperatures from 20 to 70℃. The crude oil exhibited a shear thinning behavior at all the temperatures. The strongest shear thinning was observed at 20℃. A non-ionic water soluble surfactant （Triton X-100） was used to form and stabilize crude oil emulsions. The emulsification process has significantly reduced the crude oil viscosity. The degree of VR was found to increase with an increase in water content and reach its maximum value at 50 % water content. The phase inversion from oil- oil emulsion occurred at 30 in-water emulsion to water-in- % water content. The results indicated that the VR was inversely proportional to temperature and concentration of silica nanoparticles. For water-in-oil emulsions, VR increased with shear rate and eventually reached a plateau at a shear rate of around 350 s^-1. This was attributed to the thinning behavior of the continuous phase. The VR of oil-in-water emulsions remained almost constant as the shear rate increased due to the Newtonian behavior of water, the continuous phase.
