Effects of Agro-Ecological Practices on the Productivity of Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam) and Soil Fertility in the Sudano-Sahelian Zone of Burkina Faso

This study consisted to evaluate the effects of ecological practices on the yield performance of the JEWEL of orange-fleshed sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam). The study was conducted in a Sudano-Sahelian cropping system (Lantargou, eastern region of Burkina Faso). Agro-ecological practices consisted of the inputs of 3.20 t/ha of compost + 2.45 t/ha of wood ash (CO + WA);4.90 t/ha of wood ash (WA);6.40 t/ha of compost (CO) were compared to control with no inputs (T0). Each treatment was repeated four times. The crop management consisted of plowing, harrowing, raising of ridges with 40 cm height, burying of treatments, transplanting of cuttings, two weeding’s, and using of biopesticide called PIOL for crop protection. Composite soil samples per treatment were also collected at tuber harvest and analyzed to determine the effects of treatments on residual soil fertility. Results showed that the plant heights and diameters under the CO were significantly (P 0. The WA treatment significantly increased the number of large tubers by 43% (P ≤ 0.01) compared to T0. Total tuber numbers, large tuber numbers and tuber yields of sweet potato under CO + WA were significantly (P 0. All treatments increased soil organic matter, N, P and K contents, and reduced soil acidity compared with those obtained under T0. Soil K content was improved by 39% under CO + WA, and soil N content by 34% under WA compared to T0. Soil C/N ratio under CO + WA was reduced by 20% compared others treatments. But, the CO + WA treatment outperformed by improving residual soil N content by 38%, and the WA treatment by increasing soil K content by 50% compared to T0. In today’s environment where agriculture needs to produce sustainably, local fertilizer resources must be encouraged to achieve multiple crop performance and environmental goals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of combined inputs of biowaste and inorganic fertilisers on the mineralization of carbon and nitrogen of a Lixisol under continuous upland rice growing conditions. To this end, agronomic trials were set up in 2018 and 2019, using a Fisher randomized complete block design with 6 treatments and four replications at Farako-ba research station. The treatments were: T1 (Control), T2 (NPK + Urea), T3 (7500 kgha of Chicken droppings);T4 (7500 kg/ha of chicken droppings + 100 kg/ha of urea);T5 (7500 kg/ha of chicken droppings + 500 kg/ha of Burkina Phosphate);T6 (7500 kg/ha of chicken droppings + 500 kg/ha of Burkina Phosphate + 100 kg/ha of urea). Highest respirometry was observed in treatments T3, T4 and T6 and treatment T4 significantly increased the mineralization coefficient by 15% after 21 days of incubation. T4 and T6 resulted in increases in ammonium ion of 74.15% and 100%, respectively, compared to the control. Likewise, treatments T4 and T6 resulted in a significant increase in nitrate ion of 104.83 and 103.25%, respectively. Biowaste combined with inorganic fertilizers may have a capacity to improve the availability of leachate nutrients under upland rice conditions.

【目的】研究筛选对芹菜叶斑病(病菌为:细极链格孢Alternaria tenuissima)具有良好防治作用的药剂。【方法】采用菌丝生长速率法和琼脂片法分别用14种杀菌剂对细极链格孢(A.tenuissima)菌丝和孢子萌发做室内毒力测定并进行田间药效试验。【结果】14种杀菌剂中对病原菌菌丝抑制效果最好的分别为3%甲霜恶霉灵、5%香芹酚、10%苯醚甲环唑、其EC_(50)分别为10.8、19.9、26.2μg/mL;对孢子萌发抑制效果最好的分别为3%甲霜恶霉灵、25%嘧菌酯、43%戊唑醇,其EC_(50)分别为15.7、29.5、38.7μg/mL。只有3%甲霜恶霉灵具有最佳的防治效果。防效最好的药剂为3%甲霜恶霉灵和5%香芹酚,其防效分别为96.3%和83.9%。【结论】3%甲霜恶霉灵最适用于田间芹菜叶斑病的防治。

Natural Radioactivity Measurement and Dose Assessment in Soil Samples from Some Selected Areas of Mali

This is the first time that a study applies the gamma ray spectroscopy using a high purity germanium to evaluate the terrestrial gamma radiation level by detector in selected regions of Mali. The results reveal that the activity concentrations of naturally occurring 226Ra, 232Th and 40K radionuclides ranges between respectively 17.26 ±1.81 and 105.43 ±10.36;20.41 ±2.52 and 180.85 ±19.69;41.33 ±8.26 and 627.63 ±85.62 Bq⋅kg−1. The measures of radium equivalent activity (Raeq), absorbed dose rates (ADR), annual effective dose rate (AEDR), external hazard index (Hex), internal hazard index (Hin) and excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR) were evaluated. Some of the obtained values exceed the recommended safe levels. Further studies are necessary to constitute a baseline reference data about the terrestrial radiation in Mali.

To study the epidemio-clinical aspects, and the therapeutic attitudes of genital prolapse (GP) in the gynecology department of Hôpital du Mali (HDM). This is a descriptive retro-prospective study over five (5) years from January 2015 to December 2019, conducted in the gynecology department of HDM. We had collected 100 cases of GP out of 989 surgeries, with a frequency of 9.89%. The age group of 60 years and over accounted for 33% of our patients, with a mean age of 50 years. Multiparous were the most affected (89%). The notion of obstructed labor was observed in 52% of patients. The most found reason for consultation was the feeling of lump in a vagina, with 65%. Grade III according to BADEN-WALKER classification system (BWCS) concerned 72% of our patients. Triple perineal surgery and hysterectomy involved 56% of our patients. Spinal anesthesia was performed in 96% of cases. Per and postoperative complications were dominated by urinary retention in 4% and by infection of the surgical site in 2%. The average hospital stay was 3.2 days. We recorded 88% of satisfied patients after the intervention. No deaths were recorded during the study. The management of genital prolapse remains essentially surgical;it requires a semiological analysis and a mastery of the surgical technique.

本研究筛选出了针对尖孢镰刀菌具有抑制效果的生防菌株,在对生防菌株的发酵培养基进行优化后,通过该菌株对番茄根腐病的防效、对番茄植株的促生能力及在番茄植株根部的定殖能力进行初步探索,从而对番茄根腐病的生物防治提供理论依据。主要研究结果如下:1、从健康番茄根部土壤中分离出对尖孢镰刀菌具有较强拮抗效果的细菌XF,该菌株XF对尖孢镰刀菌的抑制率可达67.50%。经形态学特征观察及16SrDNA分子鉴定后,确定菌株XF为解淀粉芽孢杆菌(Bacillus amyloliquefaciens)。2、以尖孢镰刀菌为指示菌,其抑菌率为指标,测定菌株XF的最适发酵培养基,并采用正交优化。结果表明,菌株XF发酵最适培养基为:葡萄糖10.00%,酵母粉5.00%,MgSO·7HO 10.00%,(NH)SO10.00%。3、菌株XF的防治效果及抗菌物质的分析:Salkowski比色法检测结果显示菌株XF的发酵液中含有植物生长素(IAA);通过平板验证法来检测菌株XF的次生代谢物,检测结果显示菌株XF的次生代谢物含有β-葡聚糖酶、淀粉酶及蛋白酶;通过光学显微镜观察发现,与正常菌丝相比,尖孢镰刀菌经发酵液处理后,菌丝末端膨大变粗,节间缩小,分枝增多,菌丝发生囊泡状畸形;与正常的孢子相比,发酵液处理后,尖孢镰刀菌的孢子萌发率有明显降低;用平板双扣法和高温灭菌法来检测菌株XF的抗菌物质,检测结果表明菌株XF的发酵产物中含有挥发性物质和耐高温性物质。4、菌株XF在番茄根部的定殖及促生作用:菌株XF在番茄根部的定殖结果表明,在10天时,胚苗的细菌定殖量最大;菌株XF的发酵液对番茄种子萌发的促生结果表明,菌株XF的无菌发酵滤液能促进番茄种子的萌发,且稀释50倍的发酵滤液对种子萌发的促生效果最好;菌株XF的发酵液对番茄植株的促生结果表明,稀释50倍的无菌发酵滤液能明显促进番茄植株的生长,番茄植株的茎叶高度有明显增加。

Capability of Visible-Near Infrared Spectroscopy in Estimating Soils Carbon, Potassium and Phosphorus

The spectroscopy technique has many advantages over conventional analytical methods since it is fast and easy to implement and with no use of chemical extractants. The objective of this study is to quantify soil total Carbon (C), available Phosphorus (P) and exchangeable potassium (K) using VIS-NIR reflectance spectroscopy. A total of 877 soils samples were collected in various agricultural fields in Mali. Multivariate analysis was applied to the recorded soils spectra to estimate the soil chemical properties. Results reveal the over performance of the Principal Component Regression (PCR) compared to the Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR). For coefficient of determination (R2), PLSR accounts for 0.29, 0.42 and 0.57;while the PCR gave 0.17, 0.34 and 0.50, respectively for C, P and K. Nevertheless, this study demonstrates the potential of the VIS-NIR reflectance spectroscopy in analyzing the soils chemical properties.

Albinism represents a set of genetic abnormalities characterized by a decrease or absence of melanin. Albinism in the black subject combines white skin and other morphological characteristics of the black race. Squamous cell carcinomas of the face in albinos are a common reason for consultation. Management remains most often complex. The objective of this work was to describe the management of a case of skin cancer of the face in an albino woman. She was a 26-year-old albino woman. She is a housewife and married. She consulted on 02/04/17 for a tumor of the right side. The tumour was about 6 cm in diameter and had been growing for 7 months. There was no palpable head and neck disease. The rest of the clinical examination was normal. The biopsy concluded that there was squamous cell carcinoma. The extension assessment had not found a secondary location. She received an excision of the tumor with a margin of 10 mm and a total skin graft. The trend has been favourable after three years. No recurrence was observed. The management of facial skin cancer should be the subject of a multidisciplinary consultation. Surgery occupies an important place in the therapeutic arsenal.

Head and Neck Cellulitis of Dental Origin and HIV Infection: 24 Cases

Cervico-facial cellulitis is a serious poly-microbial infection of the deep fascial spaces of the face and neck which may be life-threatening. The existence of an underlying ground that causes immune failure may promote or complicate this infection. The aim of this work was to describe the socio-demographic and clinical aspects of dental cervicofacial cellulitis associated with HIV in our context. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study that concerned all cases of cervico-facial cellulitis with positive HIV serology encountered at the CHU-CNOS of Bamako from May 2017 to January 2018. Twenty-four cases were collected. Cellulite with positive HIV accounted for 1.14% of consultations in the service. Females accounted for 67.66% of cases with a sex ratio of 0.5. The average age was 33.58 years old. Housewives accounted for 33.33% of cases. The bride and groom represented 83% of the cases. The triad (pain, swelling, and trismus) was the most common reason for consultation with 41.7% of cases. The tooth 37 was involved in 25% of the cases. In 87% of cases, patients were screened in the service. HIV-1 was found in 75.0% of cases. Complications such as peripheral facial palsy were found in three cases. The medico-surgical treatment was performed in 23 cases with a favorable evolution. The search for an underlying ground, in particular HIV infection, must be systematic in the face of diffuse cervicofacial cellulitis.
