Influence of the Simulation in the Training of the 7<sup>th</sup>Grade Medical Students in the Insertion of the Interval Intra-Uterine Device

Introduction: A simulation laboratory has been set up in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Yalgado ouedraogo Teaching Hospital. The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of the simulation in training of 7th grade students on interval IUD insertion. Material and Method: This was an evaluation study of skills before and after training that included 38 students of 7th grade medicine. Pre-training knowledges and skills were compared to those based on training using the paired Student test with a 5% significance level. Perceptions and suggestions for improvement of training made by students were collected. Results: The sex ratio of the study participants was 1.1. Their average age was 26.8 ± 0.9 years. The training increased the average knowledges score from 48.2% to 93.0% (p < 0.001). The average skills score increased from 34.4% to 92.8% (p th grade medicine students had a good perception of this training. Conclusion: The training of 7th grade medicine students in IUD insertion using simulation had a positive impact on their knowledges and skills and was well appreciated.

The study evaluated the effects of rations incorporating maggot concentrate (CA) as a substitute for fishmeal on growth performance and post-weaning piglet’s production costs. To do this, twenty-four (24) weanlings of large white breed were divided into 3 batches of 8 pigs each for a comparative rationing test in 2 phases. Four (04) experimental rations containing CA, two experimental rations (RI10 and RI5-5) for the 1st phase and two others (RII5 and RII10) for the 2nd phase were tested in comparison with 2 control rations RTI10 and RTII5 for the respective Phases I and II. The results show that in all phases piglet growth was continuous from the beginning to the end of each phase. In Phase I, the ADGs of piglets fed RI5-5 (138.64 g), RI10 (131.28 g) and RTI10 (104.78 g) were homogeneous (p > 0.05). The food production costs of one kg of live weight (FCkgLW) of the RI5-5 (671.39 CFAF) and RI10 (690.57 CFAF) rations were significantly lower than the RTI10 (1083.68 CFAF) ration (p ous (p > 0.05). The FCkgLWs of RII10 (506.73 FCFA), RII5 (583.43 FCFA) and RTII5 (815.53 FCFA) were homogeneous (p > 0.05). The maggot concentrate can be used as a source of animal protein in the feeding of piglets in partial or total substitution for fish. The evaluation of the effects of its use on the quality of carcasses and meat will be necessary.

This scientific paper presents a study investigating the effects of defects at the CdS/CIGS and CdS/SDL interfaces on the performance of CIGS solar cells. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of defects at the interface between the CdS buffer layer and the CIGS absorber, as well as the surface defect layer (SDL), on CIGS solar cell performance. The study explores three key aspects: the impact of the conduction band offset (CBO) at the CdS/CIGS interface, the effects of interface defects and defect density on performance, and the combined influence of CBO and defect density at the CdS/ SDL and SDL/CIGS interfaces. For interface defects not exceeding 1013 cm-2, we obtained a good efficiency of 22.9% when -0.1 eV analyzing the quality of CdS/SDL and SDL/CIGS junctions, it appears that defects at the SDL/CIGS interface have very little impact on the performances of the CIGS solar cell. By optimizing the electrical parameters of the CdS/SDL interface defects, we achieved a conversion efficiency of 23.1% when -0.05 eV < CBO < 0.05 eV.

Agromorphological Characterization of Introgression Lines Derived from Wild and Exotic Sorghum Germplasm to Climate Change Challenges

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) is vitally important for food security in semi-arid West Africa. The introgression of wild- and high transpiration efficiency genotypes may contribute genes for abiotic stress tolerance or novel traits. Characterizing the introgressed lines can help researchers in the process of varietal improvement. The objectives of this study are (i) To learn if introgression of wild sorghum (CWR) and high transpiration efficiency (HTE) lines into a very early maturing (photoperiod insensitive) local land-race variety can create useful variation for grain yield in drought-prone Sahelian environments, (ii) To determine if grain yield advantages (and putative drought tolerance traits) obtained from introgression of CWR and HTE germplasm are expressed differently in moderately to highly moisture-limited environments, and (iii) To understand the relationship between putative drought tolerance traits. These populations were developed from crosses between the CSM63E (Jakumbe, a high grains quality variety) and two wild parents (accessions) and five high transpiration efficiency (TE) sorghum accessions. Phenotyping was conducted using an alpha lattice design with three replications in two environments for agronomic traits (grain yield and components), flowering time and physiological traits (stay-green, chlorophyll content and lodging). A total of 669 BC1F5 progenies were developed. Genetic variation for grain yield and putative drought tolerant traits were evaluated. Both populations derived from wild parents exhibited in Cinzana a grain yield (>300 g/m2) greater than CSM63E (245 g/m2). In Bema, more than 75% of the progenies of all populations indicated a chlorophyll content at physiological maturity (>30 SPAD) higher than CSM63E (20 SPAD) chlorophyll content. Introduction: The complications of cervicofacial cellulitis are one of the most serious emergencies Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (ORL). These complications are still observed in our context despite the advent of antibiotics. The aim of our study was to describe the clinical presentation and management of patients admitted to our institution for complications of cervicofacial cellulitis. Patients and Methods: It came from a retrospective study in the ORL service, a department of Yalgado ouédraogo Hospital of ouagadougou, between January 2005 and December 2014, during which all patients with cervicofacial cellulitis complications were identified. Results: We collected over 10 years, 69 cases of complicated cellulitis, a frequency of 54.3% of cervicofacial cellulitis and 2.3% of all hospitalizations. The group included 33% women and 67% men to 29 years of average age. The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory isolated was the main factor contributing 59.4%. The front door was mainly dental 43.5% and pharyngeal 36.2%. The most frequent complications were mediastinitis thoracic dissemination 24.6%, sepsis 21.7% and spontaneous fistula 20.3% with orostome or pharyngostome. Medico-surgical treatment was associated with a reanimation in most cases. The outcome was favorable in 79.7% of cases. Mortality was 17.4%. Conclusion: The complications of cervicofacial cellulitis are frequent and often life-threatening. Their management is done in a multidisciplinary framework. The prevention and early treatment remain the pledge of their control.

Formulation of traditional hard porcelain generally requires 50% kaolin, 25% silica and 25% feldspar. Four porcelains formulation using the casting method, were prepared with different percentages of kaolinitic clay, sand and pegmatite referenced respectively NONG, SAB and PEG. The physico-chemical, mechanical and mineralogical characteristics were evaluated on specimens formulated and sintered at different temperatures from 1200˚C to 1300˚C. X-ray diffraction has revealed the presence of mullite and quartz as essentially crystalline phases. The specimen formulated with 55% NONG, 25% PEG and 20% SAB and sintered at 1240˚C gives better performance (water absorption: 0.17%, density: 2.42, open porosity: 0.42% and flexural strength: 53.54 MPa).

Introduction: Surgery can cause anxiety and worry, such as waking up in pain, being physically harmed or dying. This study aimed to assess the experience of patients undergoing planned gynaecological surgery in the Obstetrics Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine department of the University Hospital Centre of Bogodogo. Patients and methods: This was a cross-sectional study with prospective data collection during the period from June 1 to August 31, 2018. The study population consisted of patients who received scheduled gynaecological surgery during the period. Results: Seventy-six (76) patients underwent scheduled surgery and 62 were included. During discussion with the gynaecologist, 58 patients (93.55%) were satisfied. When the surgery was announced, 41 patients (66.13%) were anxious. At the consultation with the anaesthetist 59 patients (95.16%) were satisfied with the discussions. Fifty-five patients (88.7%) were anxious on admission to the operating theatre. The quality of care was satisfactory for 61 patients (98.39%) and all patients were satisfied with the care team. Conclusion: Periodic evaluation of patients’ experiences should therefore be incorporated into care evaluation policies in health facilities in order to contribute to continuous improvement in the quality of medical and surgical care.

The second most important cause of lung cancer after smoking is radon gas. Thus, the determination of indoor radon concentrations in residential buildings and workplaces is an important public health concern. The purpose of this research was to measure the concentration of radon gas in the offices of the Institute of Science and Technology and to evaluate the effective dose in the lungs and the risk of cancer. This study used Corentium’s AIR THINGS digital radon detector to determine the radon concentration in sixteen (16) offices. The digital radon detector air Things of Corentium was placed in each office for a minimum period of one week and the concentration values were recorded every 24 hours. The values recorded in each office were the short-term average and the long-term average during seven days of measurement. The short-term radon concentrations vary between 5.286 Bq/m3 and 192.714 Bq/m3 with an average of 48.01 Bq/m3 and those in the long-term were between 6.143 Bq/m3 and 172.571 Bq/m3 with an average of 52.46 Bq/m3. The measurements in office N°6 and 13 were above the lower limit of 100 Bq/m3 proposed by the WHO. The short-term and long-term effective doses in the lungs for offices N°6 and 13 were above the “normal” background level of 1.1 mSv/year proposed by UNSCEAR-2000. The short-term effective dose in the lungs for office N°6 was above the lower limit of 3 mSv per the ICRP-23 recommendation. The average number of lung cancer cases per year per million people was 15.

Influence of Defect Density, Band Gap Discontinuity and Electron Mobility on the Performance of Perovskite Solar Cells

In this manuscript, we used the SCAPS-1D software to perform numerical simulations on a perovskite solar cell. These simulations were used to study the influence of certain parameters on the electrical behavior of the cell. We have shown in this study that electron mobility is strongly influenced by the thickness of the absorber, since electron velocity is reduced by thickness. The influence of the defect density shows that above 1016 cm-3 all the electrical parameters are affected by the defects. The band discontinuity at the interface generally plays a crucial role in the charge transport phenomenon. The importance of this study is to enable the development of good quality perovskite solar cells, while taking into account the parameters that limit solar cell performance.
