In-situ solvothermal processing of polycaprolactone/hydroxyapatite nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical and biological performance for bone tissue engineering

The interest in biodegradable polymer-matrix nanocomposites with bone regeneration potential has been increasing in recent *** the present work,a solvothermal process is introduced to prepare hydroxyapatite(HA)nanorod-reinforced polycaprolactone in-situ.A non-aqueous polymer solution containing calcium and phosphorous precursors is prepared and processed in a closed autoclave at different temperatures in the range of 60-150℃.Hydroxyapatite nanorods with varying aspect ratios are formed depending on the processing temperature.X-ray diffraction analysis and field-emission scanning electron microscopy indicate that the HA nanorods are ***-dispersive Xray spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry determine that the ratio of calcium to phosphorous increases as the processing temperature *** evaluate the effect of in-situ processing on the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites,highly porous scaffolds(>90%)containing HA nanorods are prepared by employing freeze drying and salt leaching *** is shown that the elastic modulus and strength of the nanocomposites prepared by the in-situ method is superior(~15%)to those of the ex-situ samples(blended HA nanorods with the polymer solution).The enhanced bone regeneration potential of the nanocomposites is shown via an in vitro bioactivity assay in a saturated simulated body *** improved cell viability and proliferation is also shown by employing(3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide)(MTT)assay in human osteosarcoma cell *** prepared scaffolds with in vitro regeneration capacity could be potentially useful for orthopaedic applications and maxillofacial surgery.

The biodegradation behavior of Mg,coated by polymethyl methacrylate as well as polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)−bioactive glass(BG)composite was *** deposition and dip coating techniques were adopted to prepare composite coating using a suspension of different percentages of the above two chemical *** deposited coatings were characterized using SEM,EDS,FTIR,and water contact angle *** behavior study of the coated Mg was performed using linear polarization,impedance spectroscopy,and immersion tests in simulated body *** compact and homogeneous composite coating was developed as evidenced by electron microscopy *** water contact angle measurement showed a 44°increase in the contact angle of the composite coated Mg compared to the uncoated *** composite coating was covered by a bone-like hydroxyapatite layer after 336 h,indicating that the coating has an excellent in vitro *** electrochemical testing results confirmed a significant reduction,96.9%,in the biodegradation rate of Mg coated with the composite prepared from 45 g/L PMMA+3.5 g/L 45S5 GB suspension compared to that of the uncoated ***,the composite coated Mg can be proposed as a promising material for biodegradable implant application.

A simple tight-binding approach to topological superconductivity in monolayer MoS2

Monolayer molybdenum disulfide(MoS2)has a honeycomb crystal ***,with considering the triangular sublattice of molybdenum atoms,a simple tight-binding Hamiltonian is introduced(derived)for studying the phase transition and topological superconductivity in MoS2 under uniaxial *** is shown that spin-singlet p+ip wave phase is a topological superconducting phase with nonzero Chern *** the chemical potential is greater(smaller)than the spin-orbit coupling(SOC)strength,the Chern number is equal to four(two)and otherwise it is equal to ***,the results show that,if the superconductivity energy gap is smaller than the SOC strength and the chemical potential is greater than the SOC strength,the zero energy Majorana states ***,we show that the topological superconducting phase is preserved under uniaxial strain.

Simultaneous quality improvement of the roughness and refractive index of SiC thin films

We deposite silicon carbide thin layers on cleaned Si（100） substrates using the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition method,and show that the RFTIR spectrum is periodic in the near and medium infrared ranges. It is shown that both the deposition rate and the uniformity of the thin films are decreased by increasing the substrate temperature,and that the refractive index is increased by increasing the substrate *** shows that there is a trade-off between the quality improvement of the uniformity and refractive index.

Causality, Uncertainty Principle, and Quantum Spacetime Manifold in Planck Scale

In causal set theory, there are three ambiguous concepts that this article tries to provide a solution to resolve these ambiguities. These three ambiguities in Planck’s scale are: the causal relationship between events, the position of the uncertainty principle, and the kinematic. Assuming the interaction between events, a new definition of the causal relationship is presented. Using the principle of superposition, more than one world line is attributed to two events that are interacting with each other to cover the uncertainty principle. Using these achievements, it is shown that kinematics has no place in the Planck dimension and that quantum spacetime manifold should be used instead.

The Concept of Time: A Grand Unified Reaction Platform

The universe is things which change and called events. The events are matter and field. A boundary divides a system to things and environment. The things which belong to the environment have no significant effect on the things which belong to the system. The physical observables are the variations of things and it is always assumed that the conscious thing is placed in environment because the science cannot explain consciousness. There is not only an obligated minimum boundary between things (space) but also between past and future (present). The gravitational field has significant effect on these obligated minimums, especially at Planck scale. By using the above concept we introduce a grand unified reaction platform for categorizing the current physical paradigms and possible future explanation of the universe as a whole.

Simulation of the Iron Smelting-Reduction Process

A computer program is developed to simulate a two-step smelting-reduction process. Laws of thermodynamics, kinetics, iron-oxide reduction, energy balance, materials balance and transfer of heat and mass between metal, slag and gas are taken into account for development of the model. Local equilibria between metal and slag according to the quadratic formalism of the regular solution model is considered. Dissolution of iron and its oxides in the molten slag and eat transfer from post combustion gases to the molten bath are numerically analyzed. The model is able to evaluate the effect of all important variables on productivity and effectiveness of the process. Special attention is paid to the operational conditions of the reduction furnace while working with the gases coming from a smelter with a high post-combustion ratio and a high reducing-power produced through reforming of the off-gases of the smelter with a natural gas stream in order to minimize the total energy consumption and to maximize the *** application of the model to optimize the behavior of a two stage smelting-reduction system is investigated.

The Magnetic Field Effects on Radially Symmetric Core-Shell-Shell Structure

In this paper, we modeled a core/shell/shell structure with cylindrical Schrodinger-Poisson coupled equation when a magnetic field is (and is not) applied along its axis. We showed the electron density is peaked near the outer surface of the channel when the magnetic field is applied. Therefore one may make a nano-device which its electrons move only on its outer surface. Also we applied a gate voltage to the device and showed a higher threshold voltage (to turn on the device) is necessary when a magnetic field is applied. This is because of the increase in the lowest energy level similar to the size quantization. i.e a device with longer channel looks like a device with shorter channel if it is placed in a magnetic field parallel to its axis.
