Foam flooding using CO_(2)has emerged as a promising method for both enhanced oil recovery(EOR)and the storage of CO_(2)in geological *** study conducts a thorough analysis of the behavior of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams in bulk and porous media,utilizing bubble-scale analyses and foam flooding *** study compares the foamability and longevity of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams,with findings indicating that N_(2)foam bubbles tend to be smaller and less varied in size than CO_(2)foam bubbles,leading to increased foam ***,the study compares the half-lives of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams generated through sparging and winding methods,showing that N_(2)foam has half-lives 22 and 10 times greater than CO_(2)foam when produced using the sparging and winding methods,***,CO_(2)foam generated through the sparging method had a lower foaming volume than N_(2)foam due to CO_(2)'s *** the foam flooding experiments,N_(2)foam proved more effective in recovering oil from porous media than CO_(2)foam,thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the foam injection *** results offer valuable insights into the differing performance of N_(2)and CO_(2)foam floods for EOR and CO_(2)geological storage.

The severity of climate change and global warming necessitates the need for a transition from traditional hydrocarbon-based energy sources to renewable energy *** intrinsic challenge with renewable energy sources is their intermittent nature,which can be addressed by transforming excess energy into hydrogen and storing it safely for future *** securely store hydrogen underground,a comprehensive knowledge of the interactions between hydrogen and residing fluids is *** tension is an important variable influenced by cushion gases such as CO_(2) and *** research developed explicit correlations for approximating the interfacial tension of a hydrogen–brine mixture using two advanced machine-learning techniques:gene expression programming and the group method of data *** interfacial tension of a hydrogen–brine mixture was considered to be heavily influenced by temperature,pressure,water salinity,and the average critical temperature of the gas *** results indicated a higher performance of the group method of data handling-based correlation,showing an average absolute relative error of 4.53%.Subsequently,Pearson,Spearman,and Kendall methods were used to assess the influence of individual input variables on the outputs of the *** showed that the temperature and the average critical temperature of the gas mixture had considerable inverse impacts on the estimated interfacial tension ***,the reliability of the gathered databank and the scope of application for the proposed correlations were verified using the leverage approach by illustrating 97.6%of the gathered data within the valid range of the Williams plot.

Removal of copper from molybdenite concentrate by mesophilic and extreme thermophilic microorganisms

Mixed mesophilic and extreme thermophilic bioleaching were evaluated to remove copper from the molybdenite *** tests were carried out in shake flasks and in a 50-L *** shake flask tests were performed with different inoculum size,solids density,*** temperature in order to identify optimum *** highest amount of copper elimination,75%was obtained with extreme thermophilic microorganisms(at 12%inoculation,10%solids,65℃and a pH of 1.5).The highest copper elimination by mesophilic microorganisms was 55%(at 12%inoculation,5%solids,30℃at pH 2).The optimum conditions in shake flask tests were applied to 7 days batch tests in a50-L *** thermophilic experiment gave the best copper elimination of 60%(at 12%inoculation,10%solids,65℃and pH 1.5).Mesophilic test removed 50%of the copper(at 12%inoculation,10%solids,35℃at pH 2).

Application of response surface methodology and central composite rotatable design for modeling the influence of some operating variables of the lab scale thickener performance

This study discussed the application of response surface methodology(RSM)and central composite rotatable design(CCRD)for modeling and optimization of the influence of some operating variables on the performance of a lab scale thickener for dewatering of tailing in the flotation *** thickener operating variables,namely feed flowrate,solid percent,flocculant dosage and feedwell height were changed during the tests based on *** ranges of values of the thickener variables used in the design were a feed flowrate of 9–21 L/min,solid percent of 8%–20%,flocculant dosage of 1.25–4.25 g/t and feedwell height of 16–26 cm.A total of 30 thickening tests were conducted using lab scale thickener on flotation tailing obtained from the Sarcheshmeh copper mine,*** underflow solid percent and bed height were expressed as functions of four operating parameters of *** values were found to be in good agreement with experimental values(R2values of 0.992 and 0.997 for underflow solid percent and bed height,respectively).This study has shown that the RSM and CCRD could effciently be applied for the modeling of thickener for dewatering of flotation tailing.

Extraction and stripping of Cu and Ni from synthetic and industrial solutions of Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine containing Cu, Ni, Fe and Zn ions

The extraction and stripping of Cu and Ni ions from synthetic and industrial solutions of Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine containing Cu(770 mg/L),Ni(3200 mg/L),Fe(800 mg/L)and Zn(200 mg/L)were comprehensively investigated using D2 EHPA,LIX 984,Cyanex 302,Chemorex CP 150 and Acorga 5774 diluted in *** influential parameters such as mixing speed and time,concentration of extractant,p H and temperature were considered in extraction ***,stripping of Cu and Ni was examined using different inorganic and organic acids(sulfuric,hydrochloric,nitric and citric acids)with different *** results indicated that the highest extractions of Cu and Ni occurred within 3 min,with the mixing speed of 500 r/min,28℃and A/O ratio of 1:***,Cu was extracted by LIX 984 at the concentration of 10%(v/v),whereas Ni was extracted by Cyanex 302 at the concentration of 30%(v/v),*** optimal p H for Cu and Ni extraction is in ranges of 2-3 and 4-5,*** and Ni were selectively extracted with the recoveries of 85%,93%and 77%,82%from synthetic and industrial solutions containing Ni,Cu,Zn and Fe ions,*** results of optimal condition showed that 96%of Ni and 93%of Cu were stripped from the synthetic and industrial ***,four elements Zn,Fe,Cu and Ni were extracted in three stages with D2 EHPA,LIX 984 and Cyanex 302 extractants respectively with the least impurities.

Modeling and optimization of low-grade Mn bearing ore leaching using response surface methodology and central composite rotatable design

The application of leaching process to extracting Mn from a low-grade manganese ore was investigated using a software based design of experiments. Four main parameters, i.e. sulfuric acid concentration, oxalic acid concentration, time and temperature were considered in a central composite response surface design. The recoveries of Mn and Fe were selected as response of design. The optimum conditions under which the Mn and Fe recoveries were the highest and the time and temperature were the lowest were determined using statistical analysis and analysis of variance （ANOVA）. The results showed that Mn and Fe recoveries were 93.44% and 15.72% under the optimum condition, respectively. Also, sulfuric acid concentration was the most effective parameter affecting the process. The amounts of sulfuric and oxalic acid were obtained to be 7% and 42.50 g/L in optimum condition and the best time and temperature were 65 min and 63 ℃.

Using an Inhibitor to Prevent Plasticizer Migration from Polyurethane Matrix to EPDM Based Substrate

The loss of adhesion between the propellant and insulator is one of the most important problems in solid propellant motors due to migration of plasticizer to interface of propellant and insulator. In this work, the polyurethane (PU) binder containing DOP plasticizer was used as a polymeric matrix and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was applied as inhibitor agent to prevent plasticizer migration from the PU matrix into the ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) substrate. To increase the compatibility of β-CD and PU matrix, a derivative of β-CD has been synthesized using toluene diisocyanate (β-CD-TDI). The synthesized derivative was characterized by MALDI-MS and FTIR-ATR analyses. FTIR-ATR results confirmed the formation of bonding between β-CD and the polymeric network while the MALDIMS results showed that the synthesized derivative contained two β-CD and 7 TDI molecules bonded to β-CD. Investigation of the mechanical properties of PU modified by β-CD-TDI showed a decrease in tensile strength and an increase in elongation at break with increasing β-CD-TDI content. DMTA results showed a decrement in crosslinking density by increasing the β-CD-TDI content. Also, to investigate plasticizer migration, extraction of the DOP plasticizer from samples was performed using dichloromethane solvent and its concentration was measured by gas chromatography. The results of migration evaluation after four months showed that using β-CD as an inhibitor agent in the PU binder could prevent the migration of plasticizer to EPDM substrate.

The exact causes of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)are not yet fully *** a vast body of literature,we know that the immune response has long been involved in the pathogenesis of IBD,including both ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.A variety of specific alterations can lead to immune activation and inflammation directed to the colon,as revealed by some animal *** research has focused on the role of antibodies in downstream events and mechanisms of autoimmunity and *** is not well known whether the production of antibodies is a serologic consequence of IBD,or if it is a result of barrier dysfunction induced by ***,we present a new hypothesis to distinguish the complex links between genetic susceptibility,barrier dysfunction,commensal and pathologic microbial factors and inflammatory response(especially autoantibodies)in the pathogenesis of *** ascertain the hypothesis,we developed a pilot model with the concept of the presence of antibodies against enteric bacterial antigens in *** confirmed our *** hypothesis suggests the possibility of subcutaneous vaccination of animals with administration of all or specific enteric bacterial antigens.
