The construction of small dams and hillside reservoirs is a common practice for dealing with erratic and unevenly distributed rainfalls in arid and semi arid areas. Moreover, these small hydraulics structures are recommended as a solution to adapt to climate change in rural areas. They are fundamental for the sustainability of the water resources. However, these dams are potential sinks for upstream sediment. Therefore, it would be useful to monitor and measure the amount of sediments in small dams because it is necessary to understand siltation and better functioning of these vital structures. This control and these measurements require the application of the bathymetry or topography surveys which is too expensive for the responsible of these small dams. In this context, this paper proposes a simple and low cost method called: Triangulation of the estimated silted level. This method is based on direct measurement of the accessible silted level in dam. This new method is compared with another method based on the initial Elevation-Capacity curve of dam, usually used when the bathymetry is not attainable. The results of both of them have been verified with those of the bathymetry and electrical tomography methods and validated the proposal method as the most approximate. Therefore, this method is recommended as a new direct and simple technique to evaluate the amount of silting in small dams and hillside reservoirs.

Oil reclamation with Fuller＇s earth is known to have an improved effect on conditioning aged oil. In this paper it is shown that aged oil reclamation effectiveness can be monitored with turbidity and spectrophotometry measurements. These low cost testing techniques offer a useful tool to quantify the effect of Fuller＇s earth. Experimental investigations performed in laboratory conditions have shown that the quality of properly reclaimed aged oil can compete with that of new oils. Thus, in addition to extending the life cycle of this non-renewable resource, on-line reclamation of liquid might also prevent the premature ageing of paper insulation. Studying the stability of reclaimed service aged oil samples emphasized the important role played by Fuller＇s earth absorption capability.

Isli and Tislit, the Moroccan “Romeo and Juliette” according to a popular legend gave their name to a twin lakes in Imilchil. There we show evidences that these two lakes are impact craters. The proof as follow: 1) the fragments of iron meteorites found on both sides of Isli and Tislit lakes belong to the same parent meteorite and siderite type;2) the sedimentary formations which are almost tabular in the area of the lakes become tilted with a centripetal sloping all around and towards Isli lake;3) the circular shape of the Tislit lake is similar to that of the Isli lake;4) the impact breccias found on the south of the Isli lake contain shocked quartz crystals;5) the radial fractures of high pressure affect some sedimentary beds. All these observations give evidence of the presence of an impact crater due to the fall of meteorites.

This paper is aimed at the streamers in natural esters （vegetable oils） in point--plane electrode arrangement under lightning impulse voltage. The shape, stopping length, velocity and current of streamers are investigated. Six untreated commercial oils extracted from grape seeds, sunflower and rape seeds, corn, rice and sesame that could constitute potential liquids for high voltage applications are tested. A naphthenic mineral oil is also tested for comparison. It＇s shown that the streamers are filamentary for both polarities. For a given voltage, the stopping lengths （Lf） of streamers are longer when the point is positive than when it is negative; also, except mineral oil when the point is negative, the values of Lf-are very close in all tested oils. The streamers＇ velocities are in the same range for all vegetable oils and they vary between 0.4 km/s and 1.2 km/s for positive polarity and 0.2 km/s and 0.8 km/s for negative polarity.

Capparis spinosa L. is a traditionally used plant in Algerian folk medicine to treat asthma, rheumatism and other free radicals related disorders such inflammatory. The present study was designated to study the antioxidant activity of aerial and root parts of Capparis spinosa L.. Total polyphenol content was determined, after extraction with solvents in five subfractions; methanol （CE）, Hexan （HE） chloroform （CHE）, ethyl acetate （EAE） and aqueous extracts （AE）, employing the ＂Prussian blue assay＂. The results showed that EAE containing the highest concentration of phenolic compounds and Flavonoids followed by those of CHE of aerial and root parts, repectively. The antioxidant protective effects of extracts were determined by measuring the erythrocyte membrane resistance to free radical-induced. The results demonstrated that all the extracts exhibited a protective effect against t-BHP induced oxidative damages in human erythrocytes, the most potents wer CEs and CHEs with 86.55%, 85.81%, 74.59%, and 68.70%, for aerial and root parts, respectively, which were more effective than used standards： Quercetin （65.46%） and rutin （59.62%）. In order to more clarify the previous antioxidants activity of the extracts through other mechanisms, the iron chelating ability assays were realized. The results showed that the iron chelating ability of Aerial and root extracts were very considerable; the CE showed an excellent chelating with ICs0 of 0.197 ± 0.031 μM/quercetin equivalent, higher than that used standard EDTA, with approximately 0.34 folds. These results show that Capparis spinosa L. extracts have strong anti-oxidant effects and may have some clinical benefits.

The antioxidative activities of subfractions;methanol (CE), chloroform (CHE) and ethyl acetate (EAE) of Teucrium polium extracts (TPE) were investigated. HPLC analysis of the plant revealed the existence of procyanidins B1 and B2, gallic acid, catechin and epicatechin. All the extracts showed inhibitory properties on xanthine oxidase, with IC50 ranging from 0.80 ± 0.07 to 11.76 ± 0.50 μM/quercetin equivalent. In the cellular system, all the extracts showed a protec-tive effect greater than those of quercetin, rutin and gallic acid against t-BHP induced oxidative damages in human erythrocytes. These results were clearly confirmed by a modified thiobarbituric acid-reactive species (TBARS), and β-carotene/linoleic acid assay which demonstrated that CHE possess an inhibition ratio of the linoleic acid oxidation (83.11%) close to that of BHT (96.77%). In addition, the results showed that the extracts possess a potent DPPH radical scavenging activity and gave a reduction power greater than rutin, quercetin, gallic acid and ascorbic acid in FRAP assay. These results show that Teucrium polium extracts have strong antioxidant effects and may have some clinical benefits.

Introduction: Skin transplant is essential in the management of skin substance losses, especially in deep burns. Our work aims to present, through a series of cases, the results of the skin self-transplant carried out to supplement the treatment of skin burns. Materials and Methods: A one-year prospective study of the total self-skin transplant performed in the management of burns in children was included. After clinic and biologic considerations, a total self-skin transplant was performed. Results: Forty-five burns were hospitalized, of which six patients received a total self-skin transplant. The average age was 7.43 years with male predominance. Darier-Ferrand dermatofibrosarcoma (DFS) is a cutaneous mesenchymal tumor of intermediate malignancy. It is a rare but not exceptional tumor, accounting for 0.1% of malignant skin tumors. Histological examination is essential for diagnosis. Wide surgical excision is the standard treatment. DFS is a tumor whose prognosis and evolutionary risk are mainly linked to the delay in diagnosis and the quality of the first excision. Late diagnosis makes excision and reconstruction surgery difficult. The chances of recovery in the case of well-performed primary surgery are significantly greater than in the case of salvage surgery. To improve prognosis, early, codified, multidisciplinary management is essential. In our African context, and especially in the case of patients living in rural areas, errant diagnoses are often found hence the importance of raising awareness and providing information to healthcare personnel. We report a case of an enlarged left supraclavicular Darier-Ferrand dermatofibrosarcoma. The patient had come for a late consultation at a stage when the tumour was large. The CT scan was a great help in the pre-operative phase. The patient underwent complete surgical excision, the postoperative course was straightforward and the histology of the surgical specimen confirmed the diagnosis. The resection margins were healthy. The patient is alive at one year with no recurrence or metastasis.
