Low survival rate occurs in patients who initially experience a spontaneous return of circulation after cardiac arrest（CA）. In this study, we induced asphyxial CA in adult male Sprague-daley rats, maintained their body temperature at 37 ± 0.5°C, and then observed the survival rate during the post-resuscitation phase. We examined neuronal damage in the hippocampus using cresyl violet（CV） and Fluore-Jade B（F-J B） staining, and pro-inflammatory response using ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1（Iba-1）, glial fibrillary acidic protein（GFAP）, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha（TNF-α） immunohistochemistry in the hippocampus after asphyxial CA in rats under normothermia. Our results show that the survival rate decreased gradually post-CA（about 63% at 6 hours, 37% at 1 day, and 8% at 2 days post-CA）. Rats were sacrificed at these points in time post-CA, and no neuronal damage was found in the hippocampus until 1 day post-CA. However, some neurons in the stratum pyramidale of the CA region in the hippocampus were dead 2 days post-CA. Iba-1 immunoreactive microglia in the CA1 region did not change until 1 day postCA, and they were activated（enlarged cell bodies with short and thicken processes） in all layers 2 days postCA. meanwhile, GFAP-immunoreactive astrocytes did not change significantly until 2 days post-CA. TNF-α immunoreactivity decreased significantly in neurons of the stratum pyramidale in the CA1 region 6 hours post-CA, decreased gradually until 1 day post-CA, and increased significantly again 2 days post-CA. These findings suggest that low survival rate of normothermic rats in the early period of asphyxia-induced CA is related to increased TNF-α immunoreactivity, but not to neuronal damage in the hippocampal CA1 region.

Supercapacitor-like Na-ion batteries have attracted much attention due to the high energy density of batteries and power density of *** dioxide(TiO_(2)),is a promising anode *** performance is however seriously hindered by its low electrical conductivity and the sluggish diffusion of sodium ions(Na^(+))in the TiO_(2)***,this work combines porous TiO_(2)nanocubes with carbon nanotubes(CNTs)to enhance the electrical conductivity and accelerate Na^(+)diffusivity for Na-ion batteries(NIBs).In this composite,an interwoven scaffolded TiO_(2)/CNTs framework is formed to provide abundant channels and shorter diffusion pathways for electrons and *** in-situ X-ray diffraction and cyclic voltammetry confirm the low strain and superior transport kinetics in Na^(+)intercalation/extraction *** addition,the chemically bonded TiO_(2)/CNTs hybrid provides a more feasible channel for Na^(+)insertion/extraction with a much lower energy ***,the TiO_(2)/CNTs composite exhibits excellent electrochemical performance with a capacity of 223.4 m ah g^(-1)at 1 C and a capacity of 142.8 m ah g^(-1)at 10 C(3.35 A g^(-1)).The work here reveals that the combination of active materials with CNTs can largely improve the utilization efficiency and enhance their sodium storage.

Colorectal cancer remains a leading malignancy in humans. The importance of epigenetic modification in the development of this disease is now being recognized. The reversible and dynamic nature of epigenetic modifications provides a promising strategy in colorectal cancer chemoprevention and treatment. Luteolin(LUT), a flavone dietary phytochemical, can modulate various signaling pathways involved in carcinogenesis. many studies have demonstrated that LUT inhibits colorectal carcinogenesis by activating the Nrf2/ARE pathway. However, the potential epigenetic mechanism underlying Nrf2/ARE pathway activation remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to explore the anticancer potential of LUT in colorectal adenocarcinoma HCT116 cells and the epigenetic regulation of the Nrf2/ARE pathway. Specifically, our data showed that LUT suppressed cell proliferation and cellular transformation of HCT116 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, qPCR and western blotting were applied to determine the mRNA and protein expression of Nrf2 and its downstream genes after LUT treatment. Bisulfite genomic sequencing revealed that methylation of the Nrf2 promoter region was decreased by LUT, corresponding with the increased m RNA expression of Nrf2. Decreased protein levels and enzyme activities of epigenetic modifying enzymes, such as DNmTs and HdaCs, were also observed in LUT-treated HCT116 cells. In summary, our findings suggest that LUT may exert its anti-tumor activity in part via epigenetic modifications of the Nrf2 gene with subsequent induction of its downstream antioxidative stress pathway.

Single Band EBG Antenna for Wireless Power Transfer Applications

This work demonstrates the design of a single band Electromagnetic Band Gap(EBG)antenna by employing an open stub EBG microstrip of a patch antenna for better achievements in terms of its performance to be utilized in a reconﬁgurable harvester to operate over a wide input power *** EBG antenna has been used to gather RF energy and a FET-transistor has been obtain-able to determine and control the powerﬂow with the intention to operate at the same time for a different level of input *** measured data of the EBG antenna shows a directivity of 8.52 dBi,a gain of 7.18 dBi,a return loss of-27 dB with a radiation efﬁciency of 84.3%,showing a clear enhancement in directivity,peak realized gain,and radiation efﬁciency by 41.76%,25.61%,and 17.12%respectively compared with a regular reference antenna;without utilized the EBG ***,the harvester design accomplishes 40%of RF-DC power conversion efﬁciency over a wide dynamic input power range from-15 to 27 dBm,and its peak is around 78%.The harvester is designed to work at the ISm band for 915 mHz and is suitable for Wireless Power Transfer(WPT)uses.

Second-line panitumumab as a triweekly dose for patients with wild-type KRAS exon 2 metastatic colorectal cancer:a single-institution experience

Objective: Panitumumab administered as monotherapy in colorectal cancer(CRC) has shown response and disease stabilization rates of approximately 30%. The current study aimed to evaluate the progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC) treated with panitumumab every 3 weeks as a second line ***: This study is a retrospective analysis of 18 patients, aged more than 18 years, with wild-type KRAS exon 2 mCRC treated with panitumumab as a second-line single agent after progression on first-line ***: The median number of courses received was 10(range, 4-29), and the median duration of treatment was 30 weeks(range,12-96 weeks). After a median follow-up period of 13 months, the median PFS was 6 months(range, 4.3-7.7 months) and the median OS was 11 months(range, 7.4-14.5 months). The median PFS was 4 months for patients with months(range, 4.5-7.5 months) for patients with ≥ grade 2 skin rash(P=0.05). The median OS was 9 months(range, 6.4-11.5months) and 14 months(range, 11.6-16.3 months) for the two groups of patients(P=0.002).Conclusions: Panitumumab given every 3 weeks is effective and well tolerated in patients with advanced CRC that progressed after standard chemotherapy.

mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of the directionally solidified Bi–Zn–Al ternary eutectic alloy

A Bi-2.0Zn-0.2A1 （wt%） ternary eutectic alloy was prepared using a vacuum melting furnace and a casting furnace. The samples were directionally solidified upwards at a constant growth rate （V= 18.4 μm/s） under different temperature gradients （G = 1.15-3.44 K/mm） and at a constant temperature gradient （G = 2.66 K/mm） under different growth rates （V= 8.3-500 μm/s） in a Bridgman-type directional so- lidification furnace. The dependence ofmicrostructure parameter （2） on the solidification parameters （G and V） and that of the microhardness （Hv） on the microstructure and solidification parameters were investigated. The resistivity （ρ） measurements of the studied alloy were per- formed using the standard four-point-probe method, and the temperature coefficient of resistivity （α） was calculated from the ρ-Tcurve. The enthalpy （ah） and the specific heat （Cp） values were determined by differential scanning calorimetry analysis. In addition, the thermal conductivities of samples, obtained using the Wiedemann-Franz and Smith-Palmer equations, were compared with the experimental results. The results revealed that, the thermal conductivity values obtained using the Wiedemarm-Franz and Smith-Palmer equations for the Bi-2.0Zn-0.2Al （wt%） alloy are in the range of 5.2-6.5 W/Km and 15.2-16.4 W/Km, respectively.

Fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 effects on proliferation and telomerase activity in sheep growth plate chondrocytes

Background： Fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 （FGFR3） inhibits growth-plate chondrocyte proliferation and limits bone elongation. Gain-of-function FGFR3 mutations cause dwarfism, reduced telomerase activity and shorter telomeres in growth plate chondroyctes suggesting that FGFR3 reduces proliferative capacity, inhibits telomerase, and enhances senescence. Thyroid hormone （1-3） plays a role in cellular maturation of growth plate chondrocytes and a known target of T3 is FGFR3. The present study addressed whether reduced FGFR3 expression enhanced telomerase activity, mRNA expression of telomerase reverse transcriptase （TERT） and RNA component of telomerase （TR）, and chondrocyte proliferation, and whether the stimulation of FGFR3 by T3 evoked the opposite response. Results： Sheep growth-plate proliferative zone chondrocytes were cultured and transfected with siRNA to reduce FGFR3 expression; FGFR3 siRNA reduced chondrocyte FGFR3 mRNA and protein resulting in greater proliferation and increased TERT mRNA expression and telomerase activity （p 〈 0.0.5）. Chondrocytes treated with T3 significantly enhanced FGFR3 mRNA and protein expression and reduced telomerase activity （p 〈 0.05）; TERT and TR were not significantly reduced. The action of T3 at the growth plate may be partially mediated through the FGFR3 pathway. Conclusions： The results suggest that FGFR3 inhibits chondrocyte proliferation and reducing telomerase activity indicating an important role for telomerase in capacity during bone elongation. by down-regulating TERT expression sustaining chondrocyte proliferative

Preconditioning process for dermal tissue decellularization using electroporation with sonication

Decellularization to produce bioscaffolds composed of the extracellular matrix(ECm)uses enzymatic,chemical and physical methods to remove antigens and cellular components from *** decellularization methods depend on the characteristics of tissues,and in particular,tissues with dense,complex structure and abundant lipid content are difficult to completely *** study enables future research on the development of methods and treatments for fabricating bioscaffolds via decellularization of complex and rigid skin tissues,which are not commonly considered for decellularization to date as their structural and functional characteristics could not be preserved after severe *** this study,decellularization of human dermal tissue was done by a combination of both chemical(0.05%trypsin-edTA,2%SDS and 1%Triton X-100)and physical methods(electroporation and sonication).After decellularization,the content of DNA remaining in the tissue was quantitatively confirmed,and the structural change of the tissue and the retention and distribution of ECm components were evaluated through histological and histochemical analysis,*** of the chemical pretreatment that increase the efficiency of physical stimulation as well as decellularization,and conditions for electroporation and sonication without the use of detergents,unlike the methods performed in previous studies,were established to enable the complete decellularization of the skin *** combinatorial decellularization treatment formed micropores in the lipid bilayers of the skin tissues while removing all cell and cellular residues without affecting the ECm ***,this procedure can be widely used to fabricate bioscaffolds by decellularizing biological tissues with dense and complex structures.
