The authors report their experience with the Sauvé-Kapandji procedure for the management of posttraumatic disorders of the distal radioulnar joint in 9 younger and active patients. The mean age of our series was 37 years. We operated patients for whom pain in the distal radioulnar joint was more relieved by usual analgesic medical treatment, and those with a limitation of wrist movements. Until the latest follow-up, patients have benefited from antero-posterior and profile radiographs of the wrist. Functional assessment was based on the Modified Mayo Wrist Score whose average value was around 77 points. Postoperatively all patients experienced relief of pain. Rotation of the forearm increased to near normal values. On a professional level, eight of nine employed patients had returned to work. There were no major complications.

Objectives: The assessment of the radio clinical results of sixty one total hip arthroplasties was performed among young and active patients, with follow-up for ankylosing spondylitis, in order to evaluate the effect of surgery on the quality of life of these patients. Methods: For the functional improvement of the patients, we relied on the scores of Devane, Harris and that of Postel Merle d’Aubeigné. The radiological analysis was based on the coxometry. Results: The study confirms the notable functional gain and consequently the improvement of the quality of life of the patients. However, the longevity of the implants remains difficult to envisage due to our limited and insufficient hindsight. Conclusion: The total hip arthroplasty transforms the life of the young patients’ carriers of the disabling coxitis on the stiffening spondylarthritis, by getting them the laziness and the mobility wished for.

This paper aims to assess soil fertility and risk contamination parameters in response to increased amendment rates of sewage sludge application,under semi-arid climatic conditions of Morocco,using two soil textures:soil A(clay-silty)and soil B(sandy-clay)over two *** this end,sewage sludge and soils treatments physicochemical parameters,heavy metals content,degree of pollution and associated risks were evaluated and compared to controlled *** results showed that all studied parameters changed significantly(pPb>Zn>Ni>Cd>***,their concentrations were below the critical values established by the European Union for the agronomic use of *** obtained results of assessed parameters indicating SS degree of pollution and associated risks showed a low to a moderate contamination risks of heavy ***,environmental risks of sewage sludge application will be related to increase of heavy metals mainly in a long-term agricultural ***,optimal management of sewage sludge application is recommended to ensure sustainability and benefits at the same time to master the contamination risks.

This work aims at evaluating the reliability of the GEANT4(GEometry ANd Tracking 4) Monte Carlo(MC) toolkit in calculating the power deposition on the Megawatt Pilot Experiment(MEGAPIE), the first liquid–metal spallation target worldwide. A new choice of codes to study and optimize this target is provided. The evaluation of the GEANT4 toolkit is carried out in comparison with the MCNPX and FLUKA MC codes. The MEGAPIE is an international project led by the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. It aims to demonstrate the safe operation of an intense neutron source to power the next generation of nuclear reactors, accelerator-driven systems(ADSs). In this study, we used the GEANT4 MC toolkit to calculate the power deposited by fast protons on the MEGAPIE *** calculation focuses on several structures and *** predictions of our calculations were compared and discussed with that of the MCNPX and FLUKA codes,adopted by the MEGAPIE project. The comparison shows that there is a very good agreement between our results and those of the reference codes.

This work aims to study the solvent’s effect on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of Mg-doped zinc oxide (MZO) thin films. The results of the XRD analysis revealed that the 2-methoxyethanol solvent imparts a preferential orientation to the MZO samples, following the (002) plane, with a maximum value observed at 2% Mg. In contrast, the samples prepared using methanol show no preferential orientation. SEM analysis corroborated that the use of 2-methoxyethanol results in an orderly distribution of MZO crystallites. The optical characterization indicated that the transmittance of MZO thin films reached a maximum value of 90% for Mg concentrations ranging from 2% to 3%. At the same time, the refractive index showed its lowest value of 1.46. In contrast, the use of methanol as a solvent resulted in a maximum transmittance of 80% at 4% Mg, accompanied by a minimum refractive index value of 1.96.

The calculation time in the Monte Carlo simulations consistently represents an essential issue. It is often very long, and its decrease constitutes a challenge for the simulator. Generally, an MC simulation is qualified as quality or not according to two main criteria: the calculation time and the accuracy of the results. However, in most cases, the optimization of one criterion affects negatively the other. Therefore, a compromise between both of them is always required in this kind of simulation. The present work aims at studying the impact of the production threshold(or cut) of the GEANT4 toolkit on the calculation of the power deposition in the MEGAPIE spallation *** production threshold of secondaries is a GEANT4 intrinsic parameter. It indicates the limit of energy we can reach in the production of secondary particles. This study has allowed us to make the following conclusions. First,the influence of the cut on the calculation of the deposited power depends on the volume size, its arrangement and the importance of the electromagnetic processes occurring within. Second, the accuracy of the calculations can be acceptable only below a given value of the cut ***, this accuracy remains almost unchangeable from a certain value of the cut. The study has also made it possible to explore the prevalence of certain interactions in the zone of spallation in the MEGAPIE target.

Beach Morphology and Sediment Budget Variability Based on High Quality Digital elevation Models Derived from Field Data Sets

The morphological and volumetric changes of a sandy beach were investigated through a series of two- monthly filed surveys carried out aver a 2-year period from April 2005 to January 2007. This paper discuss the ability of 3-D digital elevation models (DEMs) derived from high accurate data to assess and quantify beach morphodynamics in relation with wave forcing. The methodology and data acquisition are described and consist mainly in the production of interpolated DEMs from which a variety of representations can be made, including as elevation change maps, two-dimensional cross-sections of the beach, calculation of net volume. The results of the analysis highlight seasonal changes in beach morphology due to variations in wave energy. This behavior is characterized by beach erosion and bar decay under high-energy waves and net accretion and bar formation during relatively fair weather conditions. The sand budgets adjustments show that the loss of volume in the winter months is compensated for by accumulation to the beach during summer. This trend suggests that there is a mechanism which controls the beach evolution. The correlation between beach changes and wave energy variations highlights a net relation between them. The results from this in- vestigation state the value of DEMs utilized and demonstrate the efficiency of the 3-D approach employed here to assess the erosion and accretion patterns which would not be visualized using 2-D profiles.

Synovial Sarcoma of Hand Presenting as A Cystic Mass

Synovial sarcoma is a rare mesenchymal tumor. It occurs predominantly in the extremities especially in the region of the knee. The localization in palm hand is rare. We report a case of a 23 year-old man who present a monophasic synovial sarcoma of the left hand which presented as a painless cystic nodule. A surgical excision was performed. The result was good without recurrence. The synovial sarcoma is a rare malignant neoplasm that should be considered in the differential diagnosis of spindle neoplasms of hand.

Traditional products working independently are no longer sufficient, since threats are continually gaining in complexity, diversity and performance;In order to proactively block such threats we need more integrated information security solution. To achieve this objective, we will analyze a real-world security platform, and focus on some key components Like, NAC, Firewall, and IPS/IDS then study their interaction in the perspective to propose a new security posture that coordinate and share security information between different network security components, using a central policy server that will be the NAC server or the PDP (the Policy Decision Point), playing an orchestration role as a central point of control. Finally we will conclude with potential research paths that will impact NAC technology evolution.

A Cubic Spline Method for Solving a Unilateral Obstacle Problem

This paper, we develop a numerical method for solving a unilateral obstacle problem by using the cubic spline collocation method and the generalized Newton method. This method converges quadratically if a relation-ship between the penalty parameter and the discretization parameter h is satisfied. An error estimate between the penalty solution and the discret penalty solution is provided. To validate the theoretical results, some numerical tests on one dimensional obstacle problem are presented.
