A clean environment with low carbon emissions is the goal of research on the development of green and sustainable buildings that use bio-sourced materials in conjunction with solar energy to create more sustainable *** is particularly true in Africa,where there aren’t many studies on the *** current study suggests a 90 m^(2) model of a sustainable building in a dry climate that is movable to address the issue of housing in remote areas,ensures comfort in harsh weather conditions,uses solar renewable resources—which are plentiful in Africa—uses biosourced materials,and examines how these materials relate to temperature and humidity control while emitting minimal carbon *** order to solve the topic under consideration,the work is split into two sections:numerical and experimental *** TRNSYS and Revit,the suggested prototype building is examined numerically to examine the impact of orientation,envelope composition made of bio-sourced materials,and carbon *** a hygrothermal investigation,experiments are conducted to evaluate this prototype’s ***,an examination of the photovoltaic system’s production,consumption,and several scenarios used tomaximize battery life is included in the *** the biosourcedmaterial achieves a thermal transmittance of 0.15(W.m^(-2).K^(-1)),the results demonstrate an intriguing finding in terms of *** value satisfies the requirements of passive building,energy autonomy of the dwelling,and injection in-network with an annual value of 15,757 ***,compared to the literature,the heating needs ratio is 6.38(kWh/m^(2).an)and the cooling needs ratio is 49(kWh/m^(2).an),both of which are good *** to international norms,the inside temperature doesn’t go above 26℃,and the humidity level is within a comfortable range.

Thermomechanical Characterization of a Bio-Sourced Material Based on Clay and Alfa Fibers

Bio-based materials are of great interest owing to their abundance and the immense potential they display as an ideal alternative to widely used industrial construction materials(that directly and indirectly harm the environment).In this scope,an in-depth experimental study is presented here on clay-based materials aimed to enhance their properties through the addition of other bio-based components such as fibers,in the present case alfa *** thermal conductivity and mechanical properties(compressive and flexural tensile strengths)of the composite clay-alfa material are analyzed with the percentage of alfa fiber in the matrix ranging from 0%to 4%.It is concluded that a percentage of alfa fibers between 1%and 2%is the most effective to get the required optimization of thermal and mechanical behavior of this bio-based material.

Creating sustainable cities is the only way to live in a clean environment,and this problem can be solved by using bio-sourced and recycled *** this purpose,the authors contribute to the valuation of sheep wool waste as an eco-friendly material to be used in *** paper investigates the thermal,hygrothermal,and biological aspects of sheep wool by testing a traditional *** biological method of aerobic mesophilicﬂora has been *** X was used to determine the chemical composition of the materials ***,thermal characterization has been *** thermal conductivity is above 0.046(W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))and the thermal diffusivity is 1.56.10^(-6) m^(2)·s^(-1).Besides,the energy efﬁciency of using sheep wool in buildings was ***,its humidity behavior was evaluated in different aspects in both winter and *** of biological analyses show the efﬁciency of the treatment by removing the majority of the microorgan-isms:the value of yeast and mildew was reduced from 38.10^(2) to 2.10^(2)(UFC·g^(-1)).In addition to that,sheep wool permits obtaining a low thermal transmittance on the scale of the walls and low cooling needs on the scale of the building with a gain of 45%and 52%,respectively.

Thermal Behavior of Clay-Based Building Materials: A Numerical Study Using Microstructural Modeling

A large part of the energy savings in the building sector comes from the choice of materials used and their structures. We are interested, through a numerical study, in establishing the link between the thermal performance of composite materials and their microstructures. The work begins with the generation of a two-phase 3D composite structure, the application of the Random Sequential Addition (RSA) algorithm, and then the finite element method (FE) is used to evaluate, in steady-state, the effective thermal conductivity of these composites. The result of the effective thermal conductivity of composite building material based on clay and olive waste at a volume fraction of 10% obtained by simulation is 0.573 W·m?1·K?1, this result differs by 3.6% from the value measured experimentally using modern metrology methods. The calculated value is also compared to those of existing analytical models in the literature. It can be noticed also that the effective thermal conductivity is not only related to the volume fraction of the inclusions but also to other parameters such as the shape of the inclusions and their distribution. The small difference between the numerical and experimental thermal conductivity results shows the performance of the code used and its validation for random heterogeneous materials. The homogenization technique remains a reliable way of evaluating the effective thermal properties of clay-based building materials and exploring new composite material designs.
