Numerical investigation of the effects of soil-structure and granular material-structure interaction on the seismic response of a flat-bottom reinforced concrete silo

In this work,a numerical study of the effects of soil-structure interaction(SSI)and granular material-structure interaction(GSI)on the nonlinear response and seismic capacity of flat-bottomed storage silos is conducted.A series of incremental dynamic analyses(IDA)are performed on a case of large reinforced concrete silo using 10 seismic *** IDA results are given by two average IDA capacity curves,which are represented,as well as the seismic capacity of the studied structure,with and without a consideration of the SSI while accounting for the effect of *** curves are used to quantify and evaluate the damage of the studied silo by utilizing two damage indices,one based on dissipated energy and the other on displacement and dissipated *** cumulative energy dissipation curves obtained by the average IDA capacity curves with and without SSI are presented as a function of the base shear,and these curves allow one to obtain the two critical points and the different limit states of the *** is observed that the SSI and GSI significantly influence the seismic response and capacity of the studied structure,particularly at higher levels of ***,the effect of the SSI reduces the damage index of the studied structure by 4%.

Solving field equations exactly in f(R,T)−gravity is a challenging *** do so,many authors have adopted different methods such as assuming both the metric functions and an equation of state(EoS)and a metric ***,such methods may not always lead to well-behaved solutions,and the solutions may even be rejected after complete ***,very recent studies on embedding class-one methods suggest that the chances of arriving at a well-behaved solution are very high,which is *** the class-one approach,one of the metric potentials is estimated and the other can be obtained using the Karmarkar *** this study,a new class-one solution is proposed that is well-behaved from all physical points of *** nature of the solution is analyzed by tuning the f(R,T)−coupling parameterχ,and it is found that the solution leads to a stiffer EoS forχ=−1 than that forχ=*** is because for small values ofχ,the velocity of sound is higher,leading to higher values of mmax in the m−R curve and the EoS parameterω.The solution satisfies the causality condition and energy conditions and remains stable and static under radial perturbations(static stability criterion)and in equilibrium(modified TOV equation).The resulting m−R diagram is well-fitted with observed values from a few compact stars such as PSR J1614-2230,Vela X-1,Cen X-3,and SAX ***,for different values ofχ,the corresponding radii and their respective moments of inertia have been predicted from the m−I curve.

The increasing architecture complexity of data converters makes it necessary to use behavioral models to simulate their electrical performance and to determine their relevant data features. For this purpose, a specific data converter simulation environment has been developed which allows designers to perform time-domain behavioral simulations of pipelined analog to digital converters （ADCs）. All the necessary blocks of this specific simulation environment have been implemented using the popular matlab simulink environment. The purpose of this paper is to present the behavioral models of these blocks taking into account most of the pipelined ADC non-idealities, such as sampling jitter, noise, and operational amplifier parameters （white noise, finite DC gain, finite bandwidth, slew rate, and saturation voltages）. Simulations, using a 10-bit pipelined ADC as a design example, show that in addition to the limits analysis and the electrical features extraction, designers can determine the specifications of the basic blocks in order to meet the given data converter requirements.

Correlation between Cancer Breast Subtypes and Age at Presentation in Egyptian Patients;Single Institution Experience

Background: Breast cancer is defined according to molecular subtypes. Each molecular subtype defines different disease behavior and requires different treatment. The different molecular subtypes have different risk factors and different distribution across age classes. Aim of the study: To detect the incidence of cancer breast subtypes by age among Egyptian patients treated at the Clinical Oncology Department, Faculty of medicine, Ain Shams University, in the period between April 2016 and December 2018. Patients and methods: Inclusion criteria: Cases with proven pathological diagnosis and underwent IHC studies for the molecular subtype while exclusion criteria were: Bilateral cases, cases with unknown molecular subtype or age at presentation, cases with multiple primaries, cases with in situ cancer, male breast cancer cases, and cases diagnosed during pregnancy. Age classes were computed in four groups: from 20 - 35, >35 - 50, >50 - 65 and those older than 65 years of age. Immunohistochemical studies were done;ER, PR and HER2 were recorded for each case, molecular subtypes were defined as follows: HR+/HER2-, HR+/HER2+, HER2 overexpressed (HER2 positive, HR-) and Triple Negative Breast Cancer;TNBC (HER2 negative, ER negative and PR negative). Results: one thousand and two cases were included in the study. The median age was 51 years and the mean age was 51.64 ± 11.74, with range from 24 to 85 years. The total number of ER positive patients was 706 patients (70.5%), the total number of PR positive patients was 667 (66.6%), and the total number of Her2 positive patients was 286 patients (28.5%). While there were no statistically significant differences in the incidence of ER and PR positivity among all age classes, Her2 over expression decreased with age and the difference was statistically significant (P-value: 0.012). Polypeptide analysis for nanopore-based protein identification

The main aim of this study is to explore the existence and salient features of spherically symmetric relativistic quark stars in the background of massive Brans-Dicke *** exact solutions to the modified Einstein field equations are derived for specific forms of coupling and scalar field functions using the equation of state relating to the strange quark matter that stimulates the phenomenological mIT-Bag model as a free Fermi gas of *** use a well-behaved function along with the Karmarkar condition for class-one embedding as well as junction conditions to determine the unknown metric *** radii of strange compact stars viz.,PSR J1416-2230,PSR J1903+327,4U 1820-30,CenX-3,and EXO1785-248,are predicted via their observed mass for different values of the massive Brans-Dicke *** explore the influences of the mass of scalar field m_(ϕ),coupling parameter ωBD,and bag constant B on state determinants and perform several tests on the viability and stability of the constructed stellar ***,we find that our stellar system is physically viable and stable as it satisfies all the energy conditions and necessary stability criteria under the influence of a gravitational scalar field.

Electrochemical Characterization of Streptavidin-HRP Immobilized on multiwall Carbon Nanotubes for Biosensor Applications

In this work, we used gold labeled multiwall carbons nanotubes for peroxidase biosensor. The gold labeling on multiwall carbon nanotubes can be achieved with Pressure vapor Deposition (PVD) technique. The obtained carbon nanotubes can be immobilized on gold electrode with the airbrushing technique. The stability and the molecular structure of the labeled multiwall carbon nanotubes were characterized with cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy and Fourrier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy (FTIR). It shows a higher conductivity and a good stability in water interface. For streptavidin-HRP immobilization, the labeled gold nanotubes were activated over night with thiol-acid (16 carbons). An activation procedure was achieved with EDC/NHS for HRP-streptavidin immobilization. The development of biosensor for H2O2 detection was observed with the impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry techniques. This method could be used to determine total H2O2 concentration in the range 4 μm - 160 μm. The results show that the biosensor response depends on the conductivity and the large surface-to-volume ratio attained with multiwall carbon nanotubes. The response of the developed biosensors was reproducible with higher stability.
