Risk factors for liver fibrosis among human immunodeficiency virus monoinfected patients using the FIB4 index in Morocco

AIM: To study the prevalence and risk factors of significant hepatic fibrosis in Moroccan human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) monoinfected ***: We conducted a cross-sectional study among HIV monoinfected patients(negative for hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibody). Clinical and laboratory data were collected from the data base of the Infectious Diseases Unit in Ibn Rochd Hospital Center [age, gender, duration of HIV infection, CD4 T lymphocyte count, HIV viral load, glycemia and current or prior use of antiretroviral and antiretroviral therapy(ART) duration]. The primary outcome was a FIB4score > 1.45. Multivariable logistic regression identifiedindependent risk factors for FIB4 > ***: A FIB4 score > 1.45 was identified in 96among 619(15.5%). HIV monoinfected patients followed up between September 1990 and September2012. Multivariate analysis showed that only a viral load > 75(OR = 2.23, 95%CI: 1.36-3.67), CD4 > 200cells/mm3(OR = 0.39, 95%CI: 0.21-0.72) and age at FIB4 index calculation(OR = 1.10, 95%CI: 1.07-1.13)were independently associated with the occurrence of FIB4 index(> 1.45). Gender, duration of HIV infection,glycemia, use of antiretroviral therapy and ART duration were not associated with significant fibrosis by ***: FIB4 score > 1.45 was found in 15.5%of Moroccan HIV monoinfected patients. Age, HIV viremia > 75 copies/mL and CD4 count > 200 cells/mm3are associated with liver fibrosis. Further studies are needed to explore mechanisms for fibrosis in HIV monoinfected patients.

Performance assessment of a power-to-gas process based on reversible solid oxide cell

Due to the foreseen growth of sustainable energy utilization in the upcoming years, storage of the excess production is becoming a rather serious matter. In this work, a promising solution to this issue is investigated using one of the most emerging technologies of electricity conversion: reversible solid oxide cells (RSOC). A detailed model was created so as to study the RSOC performance before implementing it in the global co-electrolysis Aspen Plus(TM) model. The model was compared to experimental results and showed good agreement with the available data under steady state conditions. The system was then scaled up to a 10MWco-electrolysis unit operating at 1073 K and 3 bar. The produced syngas is subsequently directed to a methanation unit to produce a synthetic natural gas (SNG) with an equivalent chemical power of 8.3 MWth. Additionally, as a result of a heat integration analysis, the methanation process provides steam and electricity to operate the rest of the units in the process. A final CO2 capture step is added to ensure the required specifications of the produced SNG for gas network injection. Lastly, the overall performance of the power-to-gas process was evaluated taking into account the energy consumption of each unit.

Analytical study of the effect of the geometrical parameters during the interaction of regular wave-horizontal plate-current

The present work is an analytical study of the influence of geometrical parameters, such as length, thickness and immersion of the plate, on the reflection coefficient of a regular wave for an immersed horizontal plate in the presence of a uniform current with the same direction as the propagation of the incident regular wave. This study was performed using the linearized potential theory with the evanescent modes while searching for complex roots to the dispersion equation that are neither pure real nor pure imaginary. The results show that the effects of the immersion and the relative length on the reflection coefficient of the plate are accentuated by the presence of the current, whereas the plate thickness practically does not have an effect if it is relatively small.

Bio-based polyurethanes(PUs)have been occurred a large attention *** was found to be an alternative to the petrochemical based materials to the fact of their weak environmental influence,availability,good price and *** addition,the nature shows several bio-derived compounds as raw materials for the synthesis of polyols,including the vegetable oils,polyphenol,terpene,and other bio-renewable *** the aim to develop a new family of biobased polyurethanes(PUs)via vegetable oils,the elaboration of new Jojoba-based PUs was performed by catalyst-free polycondensation reaction of a synthesized Jojoba diol with various diisocyanates such us toluene diisocyanate(TDI)and isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI).All the compounds were characterized by FTIR and NMR spectroscopies,and their properties were determined by gel permeation chromatography,differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric *** obtained results show renewable vegetable oils-based PUs materials can be preparing using a new environmentally ways and giving various good properties performances.

Acoustic measures of the cry characteristics of healthy newborns and newborns with pathologies

Several hypotheses have been formulated as a result of observing spectrograms of the audio signals of the newborn infant cry in numerous studies. Our study is based on a few of these hypotheses. The purpose of this article is to differentiate pathological crying from healthy crying through acoustic cry analysis based on neurophysiological parameters of newborns. The automatic estimation of the characteristics of relevant cry signals, such as phonation, hyperphonation, and dysphonation, expressed as percentages, as well as unvoiced sound and mode change percentages, have enabled us to distinguish among the pathologies selected for this study. The results obtained have helped us to make quantitative associations between cry characteristics and pathological conditions affecting newborns.

Thermal Performance Study of Three Models of Solar Air Heater Made of Concrete

An experimental study was conducted on three models of solar collectors having an absorber made of concrete designed and built in the TPL （Thermal Process Laboratory）. A sequence of tests was performed on these models for the two air circulation models （forced and natural） in order to compare their thermal performance. The results are presented in terms of useful energy, stored energy and thermal efficiency of each model.

Characterization of Pathologic Cries of Newborns Based on Fundamental Frequency Estimation

The majority of the sick babies seem in good health at birth and early diagnosis of the various pathologies that can afflict newborn is crucial. For this reason we introduce in this paper the use of the fundamental frequency and the different modes of cries as Hyper-phonation, phonation and high pitched cries to differentiate the pathological cries from the cries of the healthy babies. The automatic estimation of these characteristics enabled us to establish a quantitative characterization of healthy newborn cries and pathologic newborn cries. The results obtained agree with the spectrographic analysis carried out on the healthy and pathologic cries of the newborns.

Splitting of Gaussian Models via Adapted BML Method Pertaining to Cry-Based Diagnostic System

In this paper,we make use of the boosting method to introduce a new learning algorithm for Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) called adapted Boosted Mixture Learning (BML). The method possesses the ability to rectify the existing problems in other conventional techniques for estimating the GMM parameters, due in part to a new mixing-up strategy to increase the number of Gaussian components. The discriminative splitting idea is employed for Gaussian mixture densities followed by learning via the introduced method. Then, the GMM classifier was applied to distinguish between healthy infants and those that present a selected set of medical conditions. Each group includes both full-term and premature infants. Cry-pattern for each pathological condition is created by using the adapted BML method and 13-dimensional Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) feature vector. The test results demonstrate that the introduced method for training GMMs has a better performance than the traditional method based upon random splitting and EM-based re-estimation as a reference system in multi-pathological classification task.

Investigation of antioxidant and antihemolytic properties of Thymus satureioides collected from Tafilalet Region,south-east of Morocco

Objective:To examine the antioxidant and antihemolytic activities of the aqueous extract,total polyphenols and total flavonoids of Thymus satureioides(***).Methods:This plant was collected from Tafilalet Region of *** aqueous extract was obtained by cold maceration,and the components were obtained by Soxhlel extraction using solvents of varying *** identification and quantification of phenol(caffeic and rosmarinic acids) and llavones(luteolin 7-glycoside and hesperetin) were carried out by high performance liquid chromatography ***:Total polyphenol and flavonoids contents in the aqueous extract of *** were(456.73±6.94) mg caffeic acid equivalent/g of dry plant and(172.79±2.12) mg rutin equivalent/g of dry plant,*** extracts showed good antioxidant ***_(50)for 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil radical scavenging activity was(0.480±0.010),(0.418±0.005),(43.S91 ±2.467) and(0.510±0.010) mg/niL for the aqueous extract,total polyphenol,flavonoids and trolox,***,the extracts showed ferric reducing antioxidant power and the values were(50.79±2.02),(117.51±6.46).(7.03±0.29) and(44.33±7.55) mmol trolox/g for the aqueous extract,total polyphenol,flavonoids and *** levels of malondialdehyde was significantly decreased in comparison with the oxidized control(P<0.00l).They showed good activity against 2.2.-azobis 2-amidinopropane dihydrochloridc induced hemolysis in erythrocytes of rabbit *** addition,they ameliorate the half time of ***:Our results provide evidence that aqueous extract,total polyphenols and total flavonoids of *** exhibit marked antioxidant and antihemolytic activities,thus confirming and justifying the popular uses of this plant to relieve some pains.
