Evaluation of Antioxidants, Total Phenolics and Antimicrobial Activities of Ethyl Acetate Extracts From Fungi grown on Rice Straw

Rice straw(RS)collected from Egyptian agricultural environment(Al-masied village-Alsharqia governorate-Egypt)was used as substrate for three fungal isolates namely:4b,1Asp,Pleurotus ostreatus NRRL 3501 and mixed culture of(4b,1Asp).Isolates number 4b and 1Asp were identified using the molecular technique(18S rRNA).Isolate 4b and 1Asp,were identified as Trichoderma saturnisporum mN1-EgY and Aspergillus niger mN2-EgY,*** saturnisporum mN1-EgY extract exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity compared to the other fungal *** phenolic,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities were also determined from the ethyl acetate extract of rice straw inoculated by these *** antioxidant scavenging concentration(SC50)values of the tested samples were 88.84,91.45,94.65 and 100.0μg/ml,respectively for Pleurotus sp.,Aspergiluus niger,Aspergiluus niger+Trichoderma sp.,and Trichoderma sp.,after 15 days incubation,compared to ascorbic acid as positive control with SC50 value equal to 8.0μg/*** phenolic contents(TPCs)were maximum in Pleurotus *** and found to be the most polyphenolic enriched sample(380.64 mg gAE/g dry extract)compared to extracts of Aspergiluusniger,Aspergiluus niger+Trichoderma sp.,and Trichoderma sp.(261.89,198.52,and 119.80 mg gAE/g dry extract),*** gC-mS analysis has been also performed for the promising extracts.

The Salvadora persica(***)*** stick,usually known as miswak,is still being em-ployed as an oral hygiene agent for plaque and gingivitis *** study aims to assess the antibacterial,antibiofilm,antioxidant,and phytochemical profile of *** *** ***-sica was purchased from a local market,grinded and extracted with petroleum *** disk dif-fusion,microdilution,and micro-plate assays were performed to evaluate the antibacterial and an-tibiofilm activities of the prepared extract at different concentrations against𝛽-lactam resistance Streptococcus *** radical scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)and stable radical cationic chromophore,2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)(ABTS)methods were used to determine their antioxidant *** and spectrometric analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass(gC-mS)*** minimum inhibitory concentration(mIC)of *** extract against𝛽-lactam resistance Streptococcus species ranged from 6.25 to 12.5 mg/*** maximum suppression of biofilm formation by *** extract was observed at mIC with a percentage of 68.66%,against Streptococcus *** *** ex-tract exhibited antioxidant activity with IC 50 of 20μg/mL and 35μg/mL from DPPH and ABTS,*** phytochemical characterization showed the presence of 22 compounds with ma-jor compounds;benzyl isothiocyanate(36.21%)and n-hexadecanoic acid(27.62%).The *** extract exhibited antibacterial activity against𝛽-lactam resistant Streptococcus species,showing a promising natural alternative that could be a treatment option.

Rising concentrations of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in Nigerian foodstuffs despite global restrictions

The presence of brominated flame retardants(BFRs)in foodstuffs of African origin is poorly *** fill this gap,animal-derived food samples comprising 13 different items originally from Nigeria were obtained in 2021,and concentrations of novel brominated flame retardants(NBFRs),polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs),and hexabromocyclododecane(HBCDD)were *** mean concentrations of NBFRs,PBDEs,and HBCDD in Nigerian foodstuffs were 2.1 ng/g(18 ng/g lipid weight(lw)),1.3 ng/g(9.2 ng/g lw),and 0.42 ng/g(2.8 ng/g lw),with median concentrations of 1.7 ng/g(14 ng/g lw),1.1 ng/g(8.2 ng/g lw),andg/g(g/g lw),*** concentrations of NBFRs than of PBDEs and HBCDDs in Nigerian foodstuffs likely reflect use of NBFRs as substitutes for legacy BFRs in *** with previous dietary studies reveals rising concentrations of PBDEs in Nigerian foodstuffs in recent years with associated rises in dietary exposure,possibly due to active domestic use of PBDEs in ***,comparison of our exposure estimates with health-based limit values suggests adverse health effects of dietary intake of BFRs by Nigerians are unlikely to occur.

The energy market in Libya is expected to face substantial changes in the next few years:electrical energy consumption will increase by 50% within the next 4 ***,there is a plan to gradually increase renewable energy sources in the power network by 2030 to 30%.Solar photovoltaic(PV)plants will play a significant role in the energy transition and the mix of energy sources in *** article is a study conducted to investigate the challenges of power-flow management and power protection from integrating PV power plants into the Libyan power *** particular,a simulation model is built for the Kufra PV power plant(10 mW)with eight buses to assess the power network performance in terms of power quality such as voltage profile,power losses and ***,the impact of the PV plant on the short-circuit level and the power-protection system is presented under different operating *** fault ride-through(FRT)is operated using standard ambient temperature and a wide range of irradiation intensity,and is verified by using the Libyan grid *** results show that the integration of the PV plant into the grid has a significant impact on the short-circuit level and the FRT over the different fault levels and locations on the *** initial period of the three-phase fault shows that the PV plant will be disconnected from the grid due to a decrease in the root mean square value voltages where the reactive and active power of the grid reach 938 mVAR and 261 mW,*** results show that increasing the fault level will lead to an increase in injecting the active *** work is considered the first extensive investigation into the challenges of modern power-flow management and power protection for the power network system in Libya.

Contribution of Bone Scintigraphy in the metastatic Extension Assessment of Prostate Cancer: A Study of 288 Cases in the Nuclear medicine Department of Idrissa Pouye general Hospital, Dakar

Introduction: Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed male malignancy and the fifth leading cause of cancer death in men worldwide. Since the advent of screening methods such as Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) assay, digital rectal examination (DRE) and prostate biopsy, its incidence has increased significantly. The aim of our study was to analyse aspects of bone scintigraphy (BS) as part of the metastatic extension assessment of prostate cancer in Senegal. Patients and methods: This was a retrospective descriptive and analytical study, running from January 1er 2022 to August 31 2023. Patients with histologically confirmed prostate cancer were included. Whole-body scans (WBS) were performed using a dual-head SPECT gamma camera (mediso Nucline Tm Spirit DH-V type), 3 hours after intravenous injection of 8 mBq/kg (555 to 740 mBq) of 99mTc-HmDP. Results: A total of 288 patients with a mean age of 68.37 ± 7.79 years were included. The median total PSA level was 97.6 ng/ml, with 144 patients having a level greater than or equal to 20 ng/ml. All patients had adenocarcinoma, and the gleason score was available in 202 (70.13%) patients, 75.75% of whom had a score greater than or equal to 7. BS was contributory in 70.48% of cases, with 30.90% positive and 39.58% negative. The result was inconclusive in 85 patients (29.51%). The mean PSA for patients with a positive scan was 190.2 ng/ml and 40.6 ng/ml for those with a negative scan. multiple metastatic lesions predominated (87.35% of cases). metastatic lesions occurred preferentially in the axial skeleton, with a proportion of 68% versus 32% in the appendicular skeleton. Classification of bone metastases according to the SOLOWAY score revealed grade I (62.07%), grade II (35.63%) and grade IV (2.30%). Incident Detection Based on Differential Analysis

Internet services and web-based applications play pivotal roles in various sensitive domains, encompassing e-commerce, e-learning, e-healthcare, and e-payment. However, safeguarding these services poses a significant challenge, as the need for robust security measures becomes increasingly imperative. This paper presented an innovative method based on differential analyses to detect abrupt changes in network traffic characteristics. The core concept revolves around identifying abrupt alterations in certain characteristics such as input/output volume, the number of TCP connections, or DNS queries—within the analyzed traffic. Initially, the traffic is segmented into distinct sequences of slices, followed by quantifying specific characteristics for each slice. Subsequently, the distance between successive values of these measured characteristics is computed and clustered to detect sudden changes. To accomplish its objectives, the approach combined several techniques, including propositional logic, distance metrics (e.g., Kullback-Leibler Divergence), and clustering algorithms (e.g., K-means). When applied to two distinct datasets, the proposed approach demonstrates exceptional performance, achieving detection rates of up to 100%.
