The increasingly strict regulation of the use of phytosanitary products and the will of the populations to move towards sustainable development allow bio-sourced products and more particularly for biocontrol in the field of pesticides to progress. The study carried out here concerns the evaluation of the potency of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Bc2 and Trichoderma harzianum to fight against strawberry cultures infected with anthracnose (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.). The studies were carried out in the laboratory and in the field. The results indicate that B. amyloliquefaciens Bc2 and Trichoderma harzianum TR are effective for the biological control of anthracnose, gray mold and powdery mildew on strawberries grown in field conditions. The increase in plant size and the number of fruits produced with these control agents has also been observed.

Biological control of plant diseases makes extensive use of the antagonists. The effectiveness of the control depends on the choice of an effective antagonist strains from criteria of implying a good knowledge of biological peculiarities of the material used. In this study, the antagonistic activities of nine isolates of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and one isolate of Trichoderma harzianum were tested in vitro against seven strains of Colletotrichum acutatum, the causal agent of strawberry anthracnose. It was found that T. harzianum and B. amyloliquefaciens strains showed the ability to inhibit the mycelial growth of the pathogen by dual culture technique by more than 50 percent. The nonvolatile substances produced by the antagonists showed high inhibition percentages that are more than 99 percent, meanwhile their volatile compounds inhibited the mycelial growth of C. acutatum strains with low inhibition percentages starting from 30 percent except the substances produced by B. amyloliquefaciens Bc2 that showed a high inhibition percentage of more than 70 percent.

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Bc2 and Trichderma harzianum TR were used to evaluate their growth-promoting activity on cultivated strawberries, under laboratory and field conditions, and we have noticed that the percentage of achene germination is important for ones treated with TR (=97%) followed by those treated with Bc2 strain (=90%) and the control (=84%). Inoculations on field showed that on untreated soil with insecticide, TR is effective and allows the development of plants and extends the duration of flowering and fruiting. On treated soil, Bc2 clearly promotes the growth and development of strawberry seedlings and its role as plant growth promoting microorganisms has been proved.

Aim:Scar prevention and reduction is an area of therapeutic opportunity and unmet medical *** no current effective scar therapy,patients are often disappointed in their appearance post surgery and re-present to surgeons,only to be turned *** purpose of this study was to develop and test a device that produces intermittent parallel stretch on new scars and to analyze its potential to reduce ***:Mice were randomized into 5 scar stretch treatment groups:1 control,1 sham,and 3 stretch models(0.5×,1×,or 2×device strength)and treated for 10 *** were scored using the Vancouver Scar *** tissue samples were compared by histology and transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF-β1)expression between control and treatment ***:Scar scores of 0.5×and 1×groups were significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05).Scar scores from the 1×treatment group were also significantly lower than the 0.5×group(P<0.05).Sham,control scar and 2×groups showed more collagen deposition and a thicker dermal scar than the 0.5×and 1×*** scars had fewer fibroblasts with more collagen deposition than the 0.5×and 2×***-β1 levels were significantly lower in the 0.5×(342.1±9.2)and 1×(254.1±3.1)groups than in the control group(P<0.05).TGF-β1 levels in the 1×treatment group were also significantly lower than the 0.5×treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Intermittent cutaneous tissue stretch parallel to scars during the proliferative phase of wound healing decreases fibrosis on a macroscopic,microscopic and biochemical level.

Dental Plaque Streptococci and Their Amoxicillin Resistance in Children with Congenital Heart Anomalies: Results of a Prospective Study

Children with congenital heart diseases (CHD) are considered to be at higher risk of development of a Bacterial Endocarditic (BE) from infectious diseases of the oral cavity and following dental treatments. They represent the largest group of patients with special medical needs who appear in the daily dental practice. Maintenance of oral health and oral hygiene is suitable to reduce the incidence of bacteremia. Oral hygiene is more important in reducing the risk of BE than the administration of antibiotic-prophylaxis before dental procedures. The purpose of this study was to identify the strains of streptococci viridians group from dental plaque and their amoxicillin resistance at children with congenital heart disease. The study was carried out in University Dentistry Clinical Center of Kosova, Department of Pediatric Dentistry in cooperation with the Micro-biologic Department. Participants in this study (n = 90) were children between 6 - 15 years old, divided in the control group of healthy children (n = 30), and two study groups, first group, children with CHD who have not taken antibiotics within last three months (n = 30) and second group, children with CHD who have taken antibiotics within three months (n = 30). The gram positive cocci were identified using the automated system, VITEK 2 (BioMerux), while for determining amoxicillin resistance cocci the disc diffusion method was used. By analyzing the three groups of children regarding isolated dental plaque streptococci, in general the Viridans group of streptococci (VGS) has dominated our results, with a higher percentage of streptococcus Mitis group (37.2%). The highest resistance of VGS against amoxicilin was in the group of children with CHD, which have been using antibiotics within 3 months (23.3%). In the other two groups the resistance against amoxicillin was found in a lower percentage (3.3%). Introduction: Primary embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of prostate (ERMP) is an extremely rare pathological and clinical entity in adults. It’s characterized by extensive loco-regional spread and a tendency to metastasize by blood stream and regional lymphatics. In adult patients, data available on the management of ERMP are limited and mostly derived from the pediatric clinical trials on rhabdomyosarcoma. Case Report: We report a case of group III ERMP approached by initial surgery followed by the administration of three courses of vincristine, doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide regimen. The patient succumbed to disease complications three months after the original diagnosis. Conclusion: The most appropriate therapeutic approach for adults with ERMP remains questionable. Further studies are needed to improve the understanding of biological behavior of ERMP in adults and to define the best therapeutic strategy in locally advanced disease.

Micropropagation from shoot tips and nodal segments was carried out for the conservation and domestication of spontaneous Moroccan thyme, Thymus broussonetii Boiss. subsp. broussonetii (endemic threatened). The mineral composition of the culture medium, as well as the succession of different growth regulators, influenced the in vitro growth of this species. Sterilized achenes of T. broussonetii were able to germinate on an agar medium containing Gautheret macronutrients with a rate of 25% and a degree of contamination of less than 4%. Shoot apices of 15-day seedlings (two cotyledon leaves) were cultivated on SD + 0.46 μM Kin medium and the explants obtained were transplanted every month. Six macronutrients (MS, B5, SH, SD, MSm and N30K) were tested and N30K was chosen for the following experiments. Seven cytokinins (Kin, BAP, 2iP, DPU, adenine, Zeat and TDZ) at 0.46, 0.93 and 2.32 μM/l were evaluated and the addition of 0.93 μM adenine to N30K medium favored significantly the induction of buds and the elongation of explants. Primary Ewing sarcoma (ES) and primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) are considered as Ewing sarcoma family of tumors (ESFT), characterized by chromosomal translocation t(11;22) (q24;q12) leading to a chimeric transcript EWS-FLI1 in 85% of cases. It typically involves the soft tissues of the chest wall, pelvis, paravertebral region, abdominal wall, retroperitoneal region and extremities in children, adolescents and young adults. It rarely occurs in the female genital tract. We report an extremely rare case of advanced vulvar Ewing sarcoma/PNET of the vulva confirmed by Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) in a 30-year-old woman. The patient was treated by 6 cycles of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy with favourable outcome.

Chronic permanent hypoxemia predisposes to mild elevation of liver stiffness

AIM:To evaluate the impact of long term permanent hypoxemia noticed in patients with non operated congenital cyanogenic cyanotic cardiopathy on liver ***:We included ten adult patients with non operated inoperate cyanotic cardiopathy and ten matched patients for age and gender admitted to the gastroenterology department for proctologic diseases;Clinical and laboratory data were collected[age,gender,body mass index,oxygen saturation,glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase(GOT),glutamate pyruvate transaminase(GPT),glycemia and cholesterol].Measurement of hepatic stiffness by transient elastography was carried out in all patients using the Fibroscan *** patients underwent an echocardiography to eliminate congestive heart ***:Among the patients with cyanotic cardiopathy,median liver stiffness 5.9±1.3 kPa was greater than control group(4.7±0.4 kPa)(P=0.008).Median levels of GOT,GPT,gamma-glutamyltransferase,glycemia and cholesterol were comparable in cardiopathy and control *** regression analysis including age,gender,body mass index,oxygen saturation,GOT,GPT,glycemia,cholesterol showed that only oxygen saturation was related to liver stiffness(r=-0.63 P=0.002).CONCLUSION:Chronic permanent hypoxemia can induce mild increase of liver stiffness,but further studies are needed to explore the histological aspects of liver injury induced by chronic permanent hypoxemia.
