Oesophageal cancer affects more than 450000 people worldwide and despite continued medical advancements the incidence of oesophageal cancer is increasing. Oesophageal cancer has a 5 year survival of 15%-25% and now globally attempts are made to more aggressively diagnose and treat Barrett's oesophagus the known precursor to invasive disease. Currently diagnosis the of Barrett's oesophagus is predominantly made after endoscopic visualisation and histopathological confirmation. Minimally invasive techniques are being developed to improve the viability of screening programs. The management of Barrett's oesophagus can vary greatly dependent on the presence and severity of dysplasia. There is no consensus between the major international medical societies to determine and agreed surveillance and intervention pathway. In this review we analysed the current literature to demonstrate the evolving management of metaplasia and dysplasia in Barrett's epithelium.

Objective: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC) is the most common primary malignancy of the salivary glands. Insulin-like growth factor-II m RNA-binding protein-3(IMP3) is an important prognostic factor in some cancers and a tool that differentiates between benign and malignant pancreatic lesions. This study aimed to identify a relationship between the expression of IMP3 and the outcome of salivary gland MEC, as well as to differentiate MEC from pleomorphic adenoma(PA).Methods: Tissue specimens from 70 cases of salivary gland MEC, 40 cases of PA, and 10 cases with normal salivary gland were examined immunohistochemically for IMP3. The association among the expression of IMP3, clinicopathological characteristics and patient's survival was ***: IMP3 was present in 51.4% of MEC but absent in PA and normal salivary gland tissues. IMP3 expression was associated with age > 60 years, submandibular gland tumors, tumor size > 4 cm, high-grade tumors, lymph node metastasis, involvement of surgical margins, perineural invasion, distant metastasis, advanced TNM stage, tumor relapse, and death(P<0.05). Increased expression of IMP3, tumors of the submandibular gland, and lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors of disease-free survival(DFS). In addition, IMP3 was a strong predictor of overall survival(OS) together with distant metastasis and intermediate and high-grade ***: IMP3 expression is highly important in evaluating the outcome of MEC. IMP3 can be used to differentiate MEC from PA of salivary glands.

This study aims to consolidate the surface of gray cast iron with aluminum deposition by developing a method that combines the preparation and surface treatment in a single operation. The effect of the wall thickness of the castings on the microstructure of the formed layers was studied, and two thicknesses, 8 mm and 25 mm, were studied. The formation of a continuous and homogeneous rich aluminum layer on the surface of the cast iron was observed. The formed layer is composed of two successive zones identified as two proeutectoid phases FeAl+FeAl/FeAl2 and single-phase FeAl, which significantly increases the surface hardness. Furthermore, this change in surface composition makes it possible to reduce the mass of the immersed samples in a 1 M hydrochloric acid solution during different exposure times(1 to 4 days). Consequently, a clear improvement in the corrosion resistance of the treated layers is highlighted.

A Survey of Bitmap Index Compression Algorithms for Big Data

With the growing popularity of Internet applications and the widespread use of mobile Internet, Internet traffic has maintained rapid growth over the past two decades. Internet Traffic Archival Systems（ITAS） for packets or flow records have become more and more widely used in network monitoring, network troubleshooting, and user behavior and experience analysis. Among the three key technologies in ITAS, we focus on bitmap index compression algorithm and give a detailed survey in this paper. The current state-of-the-art bitmap index encoding schemes include： BBC, WAH, PLWAH, EWAH, PWAH, CONCISE, COMPAX, VLC, DF-WAH, and VAL-WAH. Based on differences in segmentation, chunking, merge compress, and Near Identical（NI） features, we provide a thorough categorization of the state-of-the-art bitmap index compression algorithms. We also propose some new bitmap index encoding algorithms, such as SECOMPAX, ICX, MASC, and PLWAH＋, and present the state diagrams for their encoding algorithms. We then evaluate their CPU and GPU implementations with a real Internet trace from CAIDA. Finally, we summarize and discuss the future direction of bitmap index compression algorithms. Beyond the application in network security and network forensic, bitmap index compression with faster bitwise-logical operations and reduced search space is widely used in analysis in genome data, geographical information system, graph databases, image retrieval, Internet of things, etc. It is expected that bitmap index compression will thrive and be prosperous again in Big Data era since 1980s.

Objective: To study the antimicrobial activity of actinomycetes isolated from sabkha of Kenadsa and identification of the isolate interesting. Methods: Eighteen strains were isolated, using four culture media from sebkha of Kenadsa(Bechar, Southwestern Algeria). Screening of antimicrobial activity consisted of two steps: in primary screening, antibacterial activity was determined by using the agar plug method against test strains; in secondary screening, better isolate which showed a good activity in the first screening was selected to extract antimicrobial substances. The antimicrobial activities of extracts were evaluated by using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. Partial characterization of antimicrobial products was performed on the basis of chemical revelations, UV-vis spectrometry and infrared spectroscopy. The identification of isolate interesting was performed through morphological, chemical, biochemical and physiological characteristics. Results: All isolates showed antimicrobial activity against at least one microorganism test. One isolate, LAM143 cG 3, was selected for its broad spectrum and high antimicrobial activity. The isolate LAM143 c G3 was identified as Spirillospora sp. The comparison between the species of this genus(Spirillospora rubra and Spirillospora albida) and our isolate indicated the existence of several physiological and biochemical differences which led us to suppose that this was a new member of this genus. Primary characterization of antimicrobial substances produced by the isolate LAM143 c G3 indicated the presence of amines and phenols. The UV–vis spectrum suggested a non-polyenic nature of substances secreted by our isolate, while infrared confirmed the presence of amine ***: The result of the present study revealed that sebkha of Kenadsa was rich in rare actinomycetes, that secreted interesting antimicrobial substance.

AIM:To investigate the prevalence of,and risk factors for,diabetes mellitus(DM) in Algerian patients with chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection and in a control ***:A cross-sectional study was undertaken.A total of 416 consecutive patients with viral chronic hepatitis attending the Internal Medicine Department of the University Hospital Center Touhami Benflis in Batna [290 HCV-infected and 126 hepatitis B virus(HBV)-infected patients] were prospectively ***:The prevalence of DM was higher in HCV-infected patients in comparison with HBV-infected patients(39.1% vs 5%,P < 0.0001).Among patients without cirrhosis,diabetes was more prevalent in HCV-infected patients than in HBV-infected patients(33.5% vs 4.3%,P < 0.0001).Among patients with cirrhosis,diabetes was more prevalent in HCV-infected patients,but the difference was not significant(67.4% vs 20%,P = 0.058).The logistic regression analysis showed that HCV infection [odds ratio(OR) 4.73,95% CI:1.7-13.2],metabolic syndrome(OR 12.35,95% CI:6.18-24.67),family history of diabetes(OR 3.2,95% CI:1.67-6.13) and increased hepatic enzymes(OR 2.22,95% CI:1.1-4.5) were independently related to DM in these ***:The high prevalence of diabetes in HCV-infected patients,and its occurrence at early stages of hepatic disease,suggest that screening for glucose abnormalities should be indicated in these patients.

Pancreatitis represents nearly 3% of acute admissions to general surgery in United Kingdom hospitals and has a mortality of around 1%-7% which increases to around 10%-18% in patients with severe pancreatitis. Patients at greatest risk were those identified to have infected pancreatic necrosis and/or organ failure. This review seeks to highlight the potential vascular complications associated with pancreatitis that despite being relatively uncommon are associated with mortality in the region of 34%-52%. We examine the current evidence base to determine the most appropriate method by which to image and treat pseudo-aneurysms that arise as the result of acute and chronic inflammation of pancreas. We identify how early recognition of the presence of a pseudo-aneurysm can facilitate expedited care in an expert centre of a complex pathology that may require angiographic, percutaneous, endoscopic or surgical intervention to prevent catastrophic haemorrhage.

In this work,we for the first time developed a novel lithium-containing crosslinked polymeric material,a lithicone that enables excellent protection effects over lithium(Li)metal *** new lithicone was synthesized via an accurately controllable molecular layer deposition(MLD)process,in which lithium tert-butoxide(LTB)and glycerol(GL)were used as *** resultant LiGL lithicone was analyzed using a suite of ***,we found that the LiGL thichicone could serve as an exceptional polymeric protection film over Li metal *** experimental data revealed that the Li electrodes coated by this LiGL lithicone can achieve a superior cycling stability,accounting for an extremely long cyclability of>13,600 Listripping/plating cycles and having no failures so far in Li/Li symmetric cells at a current density of 5 mA/cm^(2)and an areal capacity of 1 mAh/cm^(2).We found that,with a sufficient protection by this LiGL coating,Li electrodes could realize long-term stable cyclability with little formation of Li dendrites and solid electrolyte *** novel LiGL represents a facile and effective solution to the existing issues of Li anodes and potentially paves a technically feasible route for lithium metal batteries.
