Backgrounds: The treatment of choice has been drainage and definitive surgical treatment after an interval for acute pilonidal sinus abscess till now. Because of the high incidence of chronic pilonidal sinus disease following drainage and aiming the cure in one step, synchronous treatment choices to drainage have been attempted recently. We analyzed retrospectively 20 patients with pilonidal sinus abscess on whom we carried out drainage+ marsupialization as singlestep treatment. Methods: Drainage+ synchronous marsupialization results of 20 patients (17 male, 3 female) between 20 to 37 years of age (mean 28) were analyzed retrospectively on the parameters of operation time, recovery period, time to workreturn and recurrence ratios. Results Operation times were between 15 to 25 minutes. Mean recovery period was 45 days (3050 days), the mean period from operation to workreturn was 24 (2230) days. There were full recovery in 18 patients (90%) and recurrence in 2 patients (10%). Silver nitrate ablation treatment achieved cure in recurrences. Conclusion: Drainage+ Marsupialization is an applicable and successful combined choice in the treatment of Pilonidal sinus abscess.

Prevalence and Predictive Factors of Severe Coronary Lesions in Algerian Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography

Background: The severity of coronary lesions in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) has important prognostic and therapeutic consequences. Clinical symptoms not always reflect the disease severity and this study aimed to evaluate coronary lesions in the Algerian population where these data are scarce. Methods: It was a prospective cross-sectional study conducted in consecutive patients with an age ≥20 years who underwent clinically-indicated coronary angiography in our center. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of severe coronary lesions assessed with the Gensini score. The predictive factors of severity were evaluated in a multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 507 patients were included (male, 79.7%;mean age, 58.8 years). Coronary angiography was prescribed most frequently for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STMI) (46.9%) and non-STMI (38.1%). The prevalence of severe coronary lesions was 69.6% (95% CI 65.5 - 73.5). In multivariate analysis, the independent predictive factors of severe coronary lesions were male sex (odds ratio [OR] 2.00;p = 0.0141), diabetes (OR 1.92;p = 0.0070), left ventricular dysfunction (OR 1.81;p = 0.0059), age (OR 1.72;p = 0.0297) and no lipid-lowering treatment (OR, 0.47;p = 0.0388). Conclusions: Severe coronary lesions were present in two out three patients in this cohort of Algerian patients undergoing coronary angiography. Independent predictive factors of severe coronary lesions were male sex, diabetes, age, left ventricular dysfunction and no lipid-lowering treatment. It is important to identify these at-risk patients, as they should be explored at an asymptomatic stage before a cardiovascular event and receive prompt treatment with angioplasty or surgery.

This paper proposes numerical investigations carried out on a small scale tunnel model airing to study the fire-induced smoke control by longitudinal and longitudinal-natural ventilation systems. We studied the effect of two ventilation systems on the temperature distribution and stratification of the pollutant to estimate the efficiency of ventilation systems. The flow is characterized by the temperature fields, temperature profiles and the Froude number. The numerical tool used is FDS (version 4.0). This numerical study requires validation with an experience of literature. Good agreement with experimental results confirms the possibility of using this code in the problem.

We present recent advances in the modeling of coupled self-diffusion and mechanics in polycrystalline solids. This work is based upon a coupled, atomically-based continuum formulation [1] that was applied to problems such as diffusional creep, hillock formation and electromigration. The formulation was extended to consider void formation [2]. In this paper we discuss models for the evolution of grain boundaries, voids and free surfaces. The treatment of interfaces and free surfaces is based on the Level Set Method. It has been enhanced with velocity projection techniques, re-initializing algorithms and stabilization methods. The latter allow the application of the finite element method to the level set equation. Since the finite element method is already the method of choice for diffusion and mechanics, this affords a particularly straightforward implementation of the coupled problem. A notable feature is that the fully coupled physics of self-diffusion and mechanics is accounted for in the presence of evolving interfaces. The nonlinearities inherent in the problem due to coupling will be highlighted. Additionally, the staggered algorithms used to solve the coupled equations and finite element methods to accurately and robustly treat interfaces will be discussed.

We have measured the electric dipole moment of several Scn-C60 molecules (n = 1 - 6) in gaseous phase, by coupling a matrix-assisted laser desorption source to an electric beam deflection setup which is an electric equivalent of the famous Stern Gerlach [1] one. Experimental results are compared to a qualitative charge transfer that occurs between Sc and fullerene.

Cellulose triacetate membranes doped with organo-phosphoric carriers (2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid noted (D2EHPA) or trioctyl phosphine oxide noted (TOPO) as fixed carriers and 2-nitro phenyl octyl ether noted (NPOE) or tris ethylhexyl phosphate noted (TEHP) as a plasticizers have been prepared and applied for investigation to the facilitated transport of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions from aqueous nitrate source phase. The membranes Polymer-Plasticizer- Carrier were characterised using chemical techniques as well as Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A study of the transport across a polymer inclusion membrane has shown that the lead or cadmium transport efficiency was increased using D2EHPA as carrier at pH 1-2.

Purpose: To highlight the role of multi-detector computed tomography in evaluation of small intestinal neoplastic lesions. Patient and Methods: Thirty patients suspected to have small bowel neaoplasms were examined with 64 MDCT and underwent surgical exploration. Result: Contrast enhanced MDCT enterography easily diagnosed twenty patients with small intestinal neoplasms which were confirmed with surgical exploration and histopathological results. Conclusions: Our study has been proved that MDCT can be used as a front-line imaging modality for detection of small bowel neoplasms, regarding its ability to show intraluminal, mural and extraintestinal lesions with their characteristic density and features to successfully differentiate between the different neoplasms and sometimes stage them. However, operative exploration with curative resection or biopsy is still the confirmatory diagnostic method.

The gravity method may be used in the exploration of deep sedimentary basins. It allows the structuring and the lateral and vertical extent of sedimentary fill to be determined. This study has concerned a qualitative and quantitative gravity analysis of Sidi Bouzid Basin in Central Tunisia. Bouguer anomaly analysis and Gravity data filtering allows us to emphasize the structures affecting the basin. The Automatic Lineament Tracing method helps to quantify the different gravity responses of faults located in the shallow and deep sedimentary sections and in the basement. The elaborated structural map of the study area constitutes a useful document for rationalizing the future groundwater exploration in the arid area of central Tunisia since it shows faults dipping and deep hydrogeologic sub-basin delineation.

In this paper, a cascade Sigma-Delta (ΣΔ) Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) for multistandard radio receiver was presented. This converter is supposed to be able to support GSM, UMTS, Wifi and WiMAX communication standards. The Sigma-Delta modulator makes use of 4 bit quantizer and Data-Weighted-Averaging (DWA) technique to attain high linearity over a wide bandwidth. A top-down design methodology was adopted to provide a reliable tool for the design of reconfigurable high-speed ΣΔMs. VHDL-AMS language was used to model the analog and mixed parts of the selected 2-1-1 cascade ΣΔ converter and to verify their reconfiguration parameters based on behavioural simulation. This multistandard architecture was high level sized to adapt the modulator performance to the different standards requirements. The effects of circuit non-idealities on the modulator performance were modeled and analyzed in VHDLAMS to extract the required circuit parameters.

Regenerative medicine is the field concerned with the repair and restoration of the integrity of damaged human tissues as well as whole *** the inception of the field several decades ago,regenerative medicine therapies,namely stem cells,have received significant attention in preclinical studies and clinical *** from their known potential for differentiation into the various body cells,stem cells enhance the organ's intrinsic regenerative capacity by altering its environment,whether by exogenous injection or introducing their products that modulate endogenous stem cell function and fate for the sake of ***,research in cardiology has highlighted the evidence for the existence of cardiac stem and progenitor cells(CSCs/CPCs).The global burden of cardiovascular diseases’morbidity and mortality has demanded an in-depth understanding of the biology of CSCs/CPCs aiming at improving the outcome for an innovative therapeutic *** review will discuss the nature of each of the CSCs/CPCs,their environment,their interplay with other cells,and their *** addition,important issues are tackled concerning the potency of CSCs/CPCs in relation to their secretome for mediating the ability to influence other ***,the review will throw the light on the clinical trials and the preclinical studies using CSCs/CPCs and combined therapy for cardiac ***,the novel role of nanotechnology in cardiac regeneration will be explored.
