In this study,a bald eagle optimizer(BEO)is used to get optimal parameters of the fractional-order proportional-integral-derivative(FOPID)controller for load frequency control(LFC).SinceBEOtakes only a very short time in finding the optimal solution,it is selected for designing the FOPID controller that improves the system stability and maintains the frequency within a satisfactory range at different *** and demonstrations are carried out using *** performance of the BEOFOPID controller is evaluated using a two-zone interlinked power system at different loads and under uncertainty of wind and solar *** robustness of the BEO-FOPID controller is examined by testing its performance under varying system time *** results obtained by the BEOFOPID controller are compared with those obtained by BEO-PID and PID controllers based on recent metaheuristics optimization algorithms,namely the sine-cosine approach,Jaya approach,grey wolf optimizer,genetic algorithm,bacteria foraging optimizer,and equilibrium optimization *** results confirm that the BEO-FOPID controller obtains the finest result,with the lowest frequency *** results also confirm that the BEOFOPID controller is stable and robust at different loads,under varying system time constants,and under uncertainty of wind and solar energies.

Two fast-growing Indian species, melia composita Benth. and Eucalyptus tereticornis Sm., which have different sets of physical properties, were dried together in a vacuum press dryer(VPD) under two drying conditions,i.e., above boiling point(ABP) and below boiling point(BBP). The ABP and BBP conditions were maintained by keeping the temperature constant at 75 ℃ and maintaining two pressure levels: 300 mm of Hg(ABP) and 450 mm of Hg(BBP). In order to understand pressure conditions at the core during vacuum drying, a cylindrical brass pipe was inserted in both wood cores and attached with pressure gauges placed outside of the VPD. The results indicate that the melia wood core attained equilibrium pressure immediately with the pressure of VPD, while Eucalyptus attained it very slowly, reaching equilibrium at later stages of drying when cracks and checks advanced to the *** drying rate was higher for melia than Eucalyptus under both drying conditions. The drying rate of melia(ABP) was higher than melia(BBP), however, the drying rate for Eucalyptus(ABP) was not significantly different from the BBP drying rate.

The effect of the partial substitution of Ca2+ by Ho3+ ions on the electrical and mechanical properties of the superconducting phase (Bi,Pb)-2223 was studied. Superconducting samples of the type (Bi1.8Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2.1?x Ho xCu3.1O10+δ were prepared by solid-state reaction technique under ambient pressure, and characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEm). The superconducting transition temperature T c and pseudogap temperature T* were estimated from.electrical resistivity measurements, while the critical current density J c was determined from I-V curves. The electrical resistivity data were discussed according to bipolaron model in the absence of thermally excited individual polarons. The sample with x = 0.025 showed the highest phase volume fraction, T c, and J c. Room temperature Vickers microhardness measurements were carried out at different applied loads (0.25-5 N) in order to investigate the performance of the mechanical properties of (Bi1.8Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2.1?x Ho xCu3.1O10+δ phase. It was found that all the samples exhibit normal indentation size effect (ISE). The Vickers microhardness number H V increased as x increased from 0 to 0.025. The experimental results were discussed in view of meyer’s law, Hays-Kendall (HK) approach, elastic/plastic deformation (EPD) model, and proportional specimen resistance (PSR) model. The load independent (true) microhardness of (Bi1.8Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2.1?x Ho xCu3.1O10+δ superconducting samples showed identical behavior to that of the PSR model.

The developments in the field of construction raise the need for concrete with less weight. This is beneficial for different applications starting from the less load applied to foundations and soil till the reduction of carnage capacity required for lifting precast units. In this paper, the production of light weight concrete from light local weight aggregate is investigated. Three candidate materials are used: crushed fired brick, vermiculite and light exfoliated clay aggregate (LECA). The first is available as the by-product of brick industry and the later two types are produced locally for different applications. Nine concrete mixes were made with same proportions and different aggregate materials. Physical and mechanical properties were measured for concrete in fresh and hardened states. Among these measured ones are unit weight, slump, compressive and tensile strength, and impact resistance. Also, the performance under elevated temperature was measured. Results show that reduction of unit weight up to 45%, of traditional concrete, can be achieved with 50% reduction in compressive strength. This makes it possible to get structural light weight concrete with compressive strength of 130 kg/cm2. Light weight concrete proved also to be more impact and fire resistant. However, as expected, it needs separate calibration curves for non-destructive evaluation. Following this experimental effort, the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technique was applied for simulating and predicting the physical and mechanical properties of light weight aggregate concrete in fresh and hardened states. The current paper introduced the (ANN) technique to investigate the effect of light local weight aggregate on the performance of the produced light weight concrete. The results of this study showed that the ANN method with less effort was very efficiently capable of simulating the effect of different aggregate materials on the performance of light weight concrete.

Quality of cement is evaluated via group of tests. The most important, and close to understanding, is the compressive strength test. Recently, Egyptian standards adopted the European standards EN-196 and EN-197 for specifying and evaluating quality of cements. This was motivated by the large European investments in the local production of cement. The current study represents a comparative investigation, experimental and numerical, of the effect of different parameters on evaluation of compressive strength. main parameters are shape of specimens and type of sand used for producing tested mortars. Three sets of specimens were made for ten types of cements. First set were 70.6 mm cubes molded according to old standards using single sized sand. Second group were prisms molded from standard sand (CEN sand) according to the recent standards. Third group were prisms molded from local sand sieved and regenerated to simulate same grading of CEN sand. All specimens were cured according to relevant standards and tested at different ages (2,3,7,10 and 28 days). Results show that CEm-I Type of cement does not fulfill, in all of its grades, the strength requirements of Ordinary Portland cement OPC specified in old standards. Also, the use of simulated CEN sand from local source gives strengths lower than those obtained using standard certified CEN sand. A limited number of tests were made on concrete specimens from two most common CEm-I types to investigate effect on concrete strength and results were also reported. Numerical investigation of the effect of specimen shape and type of sand on evaluation of compressive strength of mortar specimens, presented in the current study, applies one of the artificial intelligence techniques to simulate and predict the strength behavior at different ages. Yield and Quality Response of Ryegrass, Egyptian Clover and Their mixtures to Different Sources of Fertilizers

Two field experiments were conducted during two successive winter seasons of 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 to investigate the potentialities of mixing Egyptian clover with ryegrass under bio, organic and mineral fertilization treatments and their combination to increase forage yield and quality grown under sandy soil conditions. The experiment included the combination of five mixing ratios (Egyptian clover alone, ryegrass alone, 75% Egyptian clover: 25% ryegrass, 50% Egyptian clover: 50% ryegrass and 25% Egyptian clover: 75% ryegrass) and eight fertilizer sources, which include control, organic fertilization, bio fertilization, chemical fertilizer, organic + bio fertilizer, organic + chemical fertilizer, bio + chemical fertilizer and combination of organic and chemical and bio fertilizers. The obtained results indicate the superiority of 75% E. clover: 25% ryegrass mixture fertilizedby Bio + O + N in fresh and dry forage production. On the other hand, it reported the lowest dry weight of weeds g/m2. Chemical analysis of forage plants showed that the mixture of ?75% E. clover: 25% ryegrass surpassed that of other treatments yield for crude protein, ether extract and ash. The results also revealed that the highest record of DCP, crude fiber and TDNY was obtained by forage mixture of 75% E. clover: 25% ryegrass fertilized with Bio + O + N. Such higher yield of these characters hassecured a balanced ratio which is really needed for ruminants ration.

Evaluation of Preoperative Fine Needle Aspiration Accuracy in Diagnosis of malignant Parotid Tumors

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of fine needle aspiration (FNA) in detecting malignant parotid tumors. Design: A retrospective study of cases series. Setting: Salmaniya medical Complex, Otorhinolaryngology Department, Kingdom of Bahrain. methods: A retrospective study was carried out, between January 2009 and December 2018, for all patients diagnosed with parotid tumors at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Salmaniya medical Complex, manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. Data collection was made from medical records, I-seha and laboratory information system (LIS). 87 patients underwent parotidectomy, of which 30 were excluded due to unsatisfactory diagnoses or missing data. The results of fine needle aspirations were analyzed and compared with the corresponding histopathologic diagnosis. Estimation of sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value and accuracy of FNA were calculated. Results: Among the 57 evaluated cases, four cases were further excluded from the final analysis due to unsatisfactory FNA results, therefore only 53 cases remained. The mean age of patients was 48.6 ± 17.2 years. A concordance with histopathology results was observed. 47 cases were diagnosed as benign and five cases were malignant, however, 1 case was diagnosed as malignant by FNA, but not in histopathology. The overall diagnostic accuracy was 98.1% and the prevalence of parotid malignancy was 9.4%. Sensitivity and specificity were 100% and 97.9%, respectively. Positive predictive value was 83.3% while negative predictive value was 100%. Conclusion: Fine needle aspiration is a highly sensitive and specific test in evaluating malignant parotid gland tumors. It is useful and accurate, especially when used hand by hand with the clinical assessment and radiological findings.
