Serum Y-Box Binding Protein 1 (YBX-1) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) Are Associated with metastasis in Breast Cancer Patients

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the levels of Y-box binding protein 1 (YBX-1) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) in the sera of metastatic and non-metastatic breast cancer patients (BC), investigate their clinicopathological significance and to analyze their potential use as biomarkers of breast cancer metastasis. methods: The study included ninety subjects sub-grouped equally into metastatic BC, non-metastatic BC and healthy volunteers. Serum YBX-1 and IL-6 were quantified using elISA technique while CA 15-3 was quantified using IRmA kit. Clinical data were collected from patients’ records. Results: YBX-1 (p ere significantly elevated in metastatic and non-metastatic BC patients compared to healthy controls, however, only YBX-1 (p 0.001) showed a significant difference with cancer metastasis. Generally, YBX-1 and IL-6 were correlated with worse histological grade and late clinical stage in breast cancer patients and they were also associated with axillary lymph nodes involvement and positive vascular invasion in metastatic BC patients. Serum YBX-1 and IL-6 levels were positively correlated to each other (rs = 0.615, p ey showed high sensitivity and specificity compared to CA 15-3 (p espectively) for predicting cancer metastasis. Conclusions: Serum YBX-1 and IL-6 are potential biomarkers of breast cancer patients with significant correlation with bad clinicopathological characteristics. Serum YBX-1 and IL-6 have superior sensitivity and specificity compared to CA15-3 and can serve as potential follow up and prognostic markers.

AIm To evaluate the evolution, trends in surgical approaches a n d r e c o n s t r u c t i o n t e c h n i q u e s, a n d i m p o r t a n t lessons learned from performing 1000 consecutive pancreaticoduodenectom.e.(PDs) for periampullary *** This is a retrospective review of the data of all patients who underwent PD for periampullary tumor during the period from January 1993 to April 2017. The data were categorized into three periods, including early period(1993-2002), middle period(2003-2012), and late period(2013-2017).ReSULTS The frequency showed PD was increasingly performed after the year 2000. With time, elderly, cirrhotic and obese patients, as well as patients with uncinate process carcinoma and borderline tumor were increasingly selected for PD. The median operative time and postoperative hospital stay decreased significantly over the periods. Hospital mortality declined significantly, from 6.6% to 3.1%. Postoperative complications significantly decreased, from 40% to 27.9%. There was significant decrease in postoperative pancreatic fistula in the second 10 years, from 15% to 12.7%. There was a significant improvement in median survival and overall survival among the *** Surgical results of PD significantly improved, with mortality rate nearly reaching 3%. Pancreatic reconstruction following PD is still debatable. The survival rate was also improved but the rate of recurrence is still high, at 36.9%.

This present study aimed to determine the efficacy of supplementing layer diets with vitamin A(0, 8,000 and16,000 IU/kg diet) and vitamin e(0, 250 and 500 mg/kg diet) either individually or in combination on egg production and quality, and blood hematology and chemistry of birds reared under sum.e. conditions. A total of 135 Bovans Brown laying hens were distributed to 9 treatment groups with 5 replicates of 3 hens/pen in a 3 × 3 factorial design. A significant improvement in feed conversion ratio(FCR) was observed as supplementary vitamin A or e increased(P 0.01). Hens fed diets supplemented with 16,000 IU vitamin A plus 500 mg vitamin e/kg diet had the best FCR among all groups. egg quality traits were not significantly affected by the interaction of vitamin A and vitamin e levels. There was a significant increase in monocytes(P ≤ 0.01)and a decrease in basophils counts(P ≤ 0.05) in response to vitamin e. Significant decreases were observed in packed cell volume(PCV), thyroxine(T_4), alanine transferase(ALT), albumin, total cholesterol and total lipids((P ≤ 0.05 or P ≤ 0.01) P 0.01), and increases were observed in serum concentrations of globulin(P ≤ 0.05)and calcium(P ≤ 0.01) due to vitamin A. The combination of 0 IU vitamin A and 500 mg vitamin e/kg diet had the highest values of PCV(40.09%) and hemoglobin(Hb)(10.33 mg/100 mL) among all groups. Vitamin e raised serum values of total protein, total cholesterol and total lipids(P ≤ 0.05 or P≤ 0.01). Feed intake, FCR,PCV, Hb, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, T_4, ALT and total protein were significantly affected by the interaction of vitamins A and e(P ≤ 0.05 or P ≤ 0.01). The interaction of vitamins A and e was only significant with respect to serum total protein(P ≤ 0.05). It can be concluded that layer diets supplemented with vitamins A and e had good results in alleviating the harmful impacts of high ambient tem.e.ature. The sine transform can be used as a tool to conquer the problems of discrete multi-tone (DmT) systems to increase the bit rate. In the proposed discrete sine transform based discrete multi-tone (DST-DmT) system, we make use of the energy compaction property of the DST to reduce the channel effects on the transmitted signals. The mathematical model of the proposed DST system is presented in the paper. Simulation experiments have been carried out to test the effect of the proposed DST-DmT system. The results of these experiments show that the performance of the DST-DmT system is better than that of the traditional FFT-DmT system. The results also show that employing the proposed TeQ in the DST-DmT system can increase the bit rate by about 2.57 mbps.

Determination of the somaclonal variation of in vitro-propagated plants is crucial to determine the appropriate micropropagation protocol and growth regulators for com.e.cial scale *** this research,nine multiplication media(mm)augmented with different concentrations of 6-benzyl adenine(BA),Kinetin(Kin),and Thidiazuron(TDZ),Three rooting media(Rm)supplemented with three levels ofα-naphthalene acetic acid(NAA)and three types of soil mixtures(v/v);Coco peat/Vermiculite/Sand(CVS),Peat moss/Perlite/Sand(PPS)and Peat moss/Perlite(PP)were used in the micropropagation protocol of daylily ***2 showed the maximum shoot length and the num.e. of leaves,while mm9 showed the maximum num.e. of *** Rm1 showed the maximum root length and the num.e. of *** acclimatization,CVS,PPS,and PP soil mixture showed similar performance except the CVS mixture showed lower performance regarding plant height and *** genetic fidelity of micropropagated plants was evaluated using Start Codon Targeted(SCoT)*** SCoT primers amplified 51 scorable bands with an approximate range from 146 bp to 1598 bp *** one out of 51 loci were presented in the mother plants.40 loci were polymorphic,11 were monomorphic and 7 were *** amplification patterns of the micropropagated plants demonstrated genetic integrity to the mother plant ranging from 84.32 to 47.06 and somaclonal variations ranging from 52.94 with 5 mg/l BA pathway to 15.68 with 1mg/l TDZ pathway,thus demonstrating that the homogeneity and the variation of the micropropagated plants affected by the type and the quantity of the plant growth regulator used during multiplication *** research can be successfully used for other ornamental and medicinal plants’bulk multiplication,germplasm conservation,and future genetic improvement.

Background and Aims:Sustained virologic response is evaluated by single-step reverse transcription(SRT)PCR as-say,which assesses hepatitis C virus(HCV)clearance from plasma but not from tissues such as peripheral blood mono-nuclear cells(PBmCs).Persistence of HCV RNA in PBmCs beyond end of treatment(eOT)is associated with *** goal was to measure intra-PBmC HCV RNA levels during oral antiviral therapy according to the HCV therapy follow-up fractionation(CTF2)***:Com.e.-sated chronic HCV patients(n=278 SRT-PCR positive)were scheduled to receive oral antiviral *** were followed-up by SRT and intra-PBmCs HCV RNA PCR at the end of the 2nd,6th,10th,14th,18th and 24th weeks to evaluate virus clearance from plasma and PBmCs,*** CTF2 protocol evaluated SRT and PBmC PCR status at each follow-up point for determining therapy continuation or inter-ruption to address cost ***:All patients tested negative by SRT PCR after therapy for 2 ***-cation of the CTF2 protocol revealed:a)increasing HCV clear-ance rate from 75.9%at the end of 10th week to 90.3%at the end of 24th week(per clearance of HCV from plasma compared to PBmCs at each point of follow-up until the 18th week(per viral elimination rates diagnosed by PBmC HCV RNA PCR(?)compared to PBmC HCV RNA PCR(+)from the 6th to 24th week of treatment(per over-time increase curve of combined plasma and PBmC HCV RNA determined negativity compared to the decline in positivity curves by PBmC PCR at the 6th-18th week compared to the 24th week(pese results validated treatment continuation;and e)solitary evaluation of eOT sustained HCV infection and relapses by PBmC HCV RNA(pearly elimination of serum and tissue(PBmC)HCV infection by oral antiviral therapy can be achieved and evaluated during a cost-effective CTF2 pro-tocol application.

mangiferin (1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy xanthone-C2-b-D-glucoside) promoted vegetative growth and exhibited inhibitory role on the occurrence of malformation. mangiferin changes associated with mango malformation pathogens were followed after inoculated mango seedlings (three years) with malformation pathogens i.e. Fusa-rium subglutinans, F. sterilihyphosum, F. oxysporum and F. proliferatum. mangiferin remained at lower level in leaves of malformed shoots as compared to healthy one. The floral malformation was observed to be associated with the reduction of mangiferin. Strong positive correlations between mangiferin activity and malformation incidence were observed. mangiferin level at panicle initiation may give a possible estimate of malformation incidence in mango.
