The current study wa. performed to eva.ua.e the liver function sta.us a. well a. molecula. cha.a.teriza.ion of the recovered worms in ra.s experimenta.ly infected with F. hepa.ica. Sixteen ma.e Wister ra.s a.ed 30 da.s were ra.domly a.loca.ed into two groups (n = 8). The first group wa. infected ora.ly with 15 viable encysted meta.erca.ia.of F. hepa.ica.per a.ima.. The other group wa. kept non-infected (control group). a. zero time (before infection), the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th a.d 14th weeks post-infection (WPI), blood a.d serum sa.ples were collected via.puncture of retro-orbita. plexus of veins from ea.h ra.. Serum enzyme level (a.T a.d a.T) a.d tota. protein were mea.ured, a.d the serum protein profile wa. ca.ried out using a.a.ose gel electrophoresis. During the period of the experiment, serum a.T a.d a.T a.tivities a.d serum tota. globulins significa.tly increa.ed while serum tota. proteins a.d a.bumin ma.kedly decrea.ed in the infected group. On the 14th WPI, the da.a.of the electropherogra. showed tha. globulin fra.tions (α1-, β- a.d γ-globulin) levels were significa.tly increa.ed while α2-globulin wa. ma.kedly decrea.ed in the infected group. The molecula. a.a.ysis confirmed the a.plifica.ion of the ITS1, ITS2 a.d NDI genes of F. hepa.ica.recovered from the infected liver of ra.s with a.plicon sizes of 630, 510 a.d 560 bp, respectively. Sequencing of the a.plified ITS gene resulted in the determina.ion of 3 stra.ns (PP108836, PP108837, a.d PP108838). a.so, a.a.ysis of the ITS2 gene resulted in obta.ning 3 isola.es under the a.cession numbers (PP109065, PP109066, a.d PP109067). Ba.kground: In Sub-Sa.a.a. a.rica. pre-ecla.psia.rema.ns a.ma.or hea.th problem contributing to high ra.es of ma.erna. morta.ity. Despite this condition ha.ing a.verse effects on ma.erna. a.d child hea.th, its preva.ence a.d a.socia.ed risk fa.tors a.e still significa.t, especia.ly in developing countries including Gha.a. This study a.med to a.sess the preva.ence a.d demogra.hic distributions a.socia.ed with pre-ecla.psia.a.ong pregna.t women a. the Ho Tea.hing Hospita.. Methods: a.fa.ility-ba.ed retrospective study wa. conducted by reviewing a.a.lable da.a.or hospita. records of pregna.t mothers a.mitted to the labor a.d ma.ernity wa.ds from Ja.ua.y 2018 to December 2020. a.l pregna.t women who were dia.nosed with pre-ecla.psia.within this period were included in the study. The da.a.were collected using a.structured checklist. Results: 5609 da.a.on pregna.t women from 2018 to 2020 were recorded. Out of the 5609 da.a.recorded, 314 pre-ecla.psia.ca.es were recorded giving a. overa.l preva.ence of 5.6%. The yea.ly preva.ence for 2018, 2019, a.d 2020 were 4.6%, 5.6%, a.d 6.6%, respectively. The most recorded pre-ecla.psia.ca.es were seen a.ong women within the a.e group of 18 - 24 yea.s. The da.a.showed tha. 112 (35.7%) of the pregna.t women who ha. pre-ecla.psia.were nullipa.ous. Pre-ecla.psia.a.socia.ed ma.erna. a.d feta. complica.ions were;preterm delivery 221 (70.4%), intra.terine feta. dea.h 62 (19.7%), ecla.psia.9 (2.9%), HELLP syndrome 5 (1.6%) a.d ma.erna. dea.h 17 (5.4%). a.socia.ed fa.tors of pre-ecla.psia.were pa.ity, level of educa.ion, a.d occupa.ion (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study showed a.rising trend in the incidence of pre-ecla.psia.over the yea.s a. the Ho Tea.hing Hospita.. Pa.ity, level of educa.ion, a.d occupa.ion were found to be a.socia.ed with developing pre-ecla.psia.

The ca.echin Epiga.loca.echin-3-O-Ga.la.e (EGCG) which is found in of Green Tea.extra.ts (GTE), displa.s a.va.iety of microbicida. properties. It is la.gely believed tha. EGCG inhibits the growth of ca.iogenic a.d periodontopa.hic ba.teria. Objective: In this pa.er we compa.ed the inhibitory a.tivity of EGCG a.d a.commercia. GTE on the growth of Veillonella.pa.vula. Chlorhexidine wa. used a. positive control. Methodology: V. pa.vula.a.CC 10790 a.d a.clinica. isola.e obta.ned from a.periodonta. disea.e pa.ient were cultured in the presence of EGCG or a.commercia. GTE, a.d the mea.urements of ba.teria. growth inhibition were compa.ed to the va.ues obta.ned with 0.12 a.d 0.2% chlorhexidine. Results: Chlorhexidine inhibited ba.teria. growth, however in contra.t to a.previous report, neither EGCG nor the GTE showed a.y effect on ba.teria. growth. Conclusions: The da.a.show a.d confirm tha. chlorhexidine is a.growth inhibitor of V. pa.vula.while EGCG a.d GTE do not displa. such effect.

The Fa. North Region of Ca.eroon is home to a.grea. diversity of bird species, which unfortuna.ely rema.ns very little explored. This work wa. initia.ed to establish a. inventory of birds a.d the fa.tors a.fecting their diversity a.d distribution for susta.nable ma.a.ement in the Ka.fou Forest Reserve (KFR) a.d its periphery. Two methods were used for sa.pling, linea. strip tra.sects from which direct counts a.d indirect observa.ions were ma.e a.d the mist netting to complement the first. In tota., 2525 birds were observed, including 149 species, belonging to 20 orders a.d 55 fa.ilies. a.cipitrida. ha. the grea.est number of species (11). The species richness wa. grea.er in the KFR (117 species) compa.ed to the periphery (95 species). The specific richness wa. higher in wooded sa.a.na. compa.ed to other habita.s. Sha.non index wa. significa.tly higher in the KFR (3.99) compa.ed to tha. obta.ned in the periphery (3.80). The va.ue of the Simpson index wa. higher on the outskirts of the KFR tha. on the periphery. The indices of species diversity were grea.er in the wooded sa.a.na. compa.ed to other vegeta.ion types. The sea.ons ha. no influence on bird diversity. a.ong the huma. a.tivities encountered, the pressure indices were more importa.t for gra.ing (7.3 conta.ts/km). Huma. a.tivities ha.e resulted in a.significa.t decrea.e in specific richness. Six enda.gered species were encountered, four belonging to the a.cipitrida. fa.ily. The grea.er bird diversity in the reserve compa.ed to the periphery shows tha. protected a.ea. a.e a.long-term solution for biodiversity conserva.ion.

The a.m of our study wa. to ma.e a.descriptive a.a.ysis of the ma.a.ement of a.ute intestina. obstructions a. the level of hospita. establishments in Ziguinchor. Ma.eria.s a.d Methods: This wa. a.retrospective, descriptive, multicenter study from the period of Ja.ua.y 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021. Pa.ients over 15 yea.s of a.e a.mitted for occlusive syndrome in the two surgica. depa.tments of the Ziguinchor regiona. hospita.s were included in the study. Epidemiologica., dia.nostic, thera.eutic a.d evolutiona.y da.a.were studied. Results: a.ute intestina. occlusions a.counted for 8.3% of a.missions. a.tota. of 163 pa.ients were enrolled, 61.9% were men, sex ra.io of 1.6. The mea. a.e wa. 48.7 yea.s. The a.era.e consulta.ion time wa. 74.8 hours (3.12 da.s). The tota. occlusive syndrome wa. in 48.5% of the ca.es. abdomina. pa.n wa. present in 87.1%, vomiting in 74.2%, cessa.ion of ma.ter a.d ga. in 60.7% a.d meteorism in 36.2%. Biologica. lab tests reported hyperleukocytosis in 28.1% of the ca.es. abdomina. CT sca.s were performed in 71.2%, confirming the dia.nosis in 90.5% a.d determining the etiology in 93.1%. The zone of the obstruction in the sma.l bowel wa. 62.7%, a.d in the colon in 37.3%. Functiona. occlusions a.counted for 22.7% of ca.es a.d mecha.ica. for 77.3%, including 120 ca.es of stra.gula.ion occlusion (95.2%) a.d 6 ca.es of obstruction. Etiologies were domina.ed by a.hesions a.d/or fibrous ba.ds (61.2%). Medica. trea.ment resolved the occlusive syndrome in 9.2% of ca.es, instrumenta. trea.ment in 17.1% a.d surgica. trea.ment in 77.3%. a.hesiolysis/section of fibrous ba.ds (55.7%), detorsion (14.3%) a.d resection a.a.tomosis (11.9%) were the most common surgica. procedures. Leishma.ia.is, a.tropica. disea.e ca.sed by the Leishma.ia.protozoa. pa.a.ite. The study reported here is to investiga.e if Streptomycin, a. a.inoglycoside, a.d a.photericin B, the second-line trea.ment drug, exhibit a.tileishma.ia. a.tivity through a.simila. mecha.ism. By using MOE (Molecula. Opera.ing Environment), we performed molecula. docking studies on these drugs binding to a.ra.ge of ta.gets including ribosome ta.gets in Leishma.ia.a.d H. sa.iens. Our study shows tha. the two drugs do not bind to the sa.e pockets in Leishma.ia.ta.gets but to the sa.e pockets in the huma. ribosome, with some differences in intera.tions. Moreover, our 2D ma.s indica.ed tha. a.photericin B binds to the a.site in the huma. cytopla.mic ribosome, wherea. streptomycin does not.

Proa.tive Sema.tic Interference (PSI) a.d fa.lure to recover from PSI (frPSI), a.e novel constructs a.sessed by the La.SI-L. Temporoma.dibula. disorders (TMD) nega.ively a.fect qua.ity of life, ca.sing pa.n a.d restricted ja. movements. This study eva.ua.es the effectiveness of Tra.scuta.eous Electrica. Nerve Stimula.ion (TENS) on TMD pa.ients before orthodontic trea.ment a. the Jua.ez a.tonomous University of Taba.co. a.qua.tita.ive, qua.i-experimenta. study wa. conducted with 30 pa.ients who met the inclusion criteria. a.ed 18 to 65 yea.s, with TMJ pa.n symptoms, dia.nosed with temporoma.dibula. disorders using the Helkimo index, a.d who ha. provided informed consent for the study. The ra.ge of ma.dibula. movement a.d the Visua. a.a.og Sca.e (Va.) were mea.ured to record va.ues before thera.y. The electrodes of the TENS thera.y were positioned on both sides of the ja. in the prea.ricula. a.ea.a.d the ma.seter muscle, the thera.y wa. a.ministered for 40 minutes, utilizing a.frequency of 2 - 4 Hz a.d a.pulse dura.ion of 300 microseconds. Following this, the ra.ge of ma.dibula. movement a.d the Va. were rea.sessed to eva.ua.e the outcomes., significa.tly improved ma.imum mouth opening (37.7 ± 6.4 mm to 44.6 ± 5.88 mm), right la.era.ity (3.86 ± 1.57 mm to 5.43 ± 1.21 mm), left la.era.ity (3.13 ± 1.63 mm to 4.53 ± 1.61 mm), protrusion (4.01 ± 1.7 mm to 5.36 ± 1.32 mm), a.d pa.n perception (4.56 ± 2.045 to 2.03 ± 1.5) (P a.y enha.ces ma.dibula. movement a.d reduces pa.n, ma.ing it a.well-tolera.ed, non-inva.ive complementa.y trea.ment for TMD.
