Surfactant proteins A(SP-A)and D(SP-D),both members of the collectin family,play a well established role in apoptotic cell recognition and *** in vitro data show that SP-A and SP-D interact with apoptotic neutrophils in a distinct ***-A and SP-D bind in a Ca^(2+)-dependent manner to viable and early apoptotic neutrophils whereas the much greater interaction with late apoptotic neutrophils is Ca^(2+)-*** surface molecules on the apoptotic target cells responsible for these interactions had not been identified and this study was done to find candidate target ***(MPO),a specific intracellular defense molecule of neutrophils that becomes exposed on the outside of the cell upon apoptosis,was identified by affinity purification,mass-spectrometry and western blotting as a novel binding molecule for SP-A and *** confirm its role in recognition,it was shown that purified immobilised MPO binds SP-A and SP-D,and that MPO is surface-exposed on late apoptotic ***-A and SP-D inhibit binding of an anti-MPO monoclonal ab to late apoptotic *** microscopy confirmed that anti-MPO mab and SP-A/SP-D colocalise on late apoptotic *** was identified as a further potential ligand for SP-A,and neutrophil defensin as a target for both proteins.

bACKGROUND Over 400000 Americans annually undergo spinal fusion surgeries, yet up to 40%of these procedures result in pseudoarthrosis even with iliac crest autograft, the current "gold standard" treatment. Tissue engineering has the potential to solve this problem via the creation of bone grafts involving bone-promoting growth factors(e.g., bone morphogenetic protein 2). A broad assessment of experimental growth factors is important to inform future work and clinical potential in this area. To date, however, no study has systematically reviewed the investigational growth factors utilized in preclinical animal models of spinal *** To review all published studies assessing investigational growth factors for spinal fusion in animal models and identify promising agents for *** We conducted a systematic review of the literature using PubMed, Embase,Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases with searches run on May 29 th,2018. The search query was designed to include all non-human, preclinical animal models of spinal fusion reported in the literature without a timespan limit. Extracted data for each model included surgical approach, level of fusion,animal species and breed, animal age and sex, and any other relevant characteristics. The dosages/sizes of all implant materials, spinal fusion rates,and follow-up time points were recorded. The data were analyzed and the results reported in tables and text. We study the binding of molecular oxygen to a （5, 0） single walled SiC nanotube, by means of density functional calculations. The center of a hexagon of silicon and carbon atoms in sites on SiCNT surfaces is the most stable adsorption site for 02 molecule, with a binding energy of -38.22 eV and an average Si-O binding distance of 1.698 A. We have also tested the stability of the 02-adsorbed SiCNT/CNT with ab initio molecular dynamics simulation which have been carried out at room temperature. Furthermore, the adsorption of 02 on the single walled carbon nanotubes has been investigated. Our first-principles calculations predict that the 02 adsorptive capability of silicon carbide nanotubes is much better than that of carbon nanotubes. This might have potential for gas detection and energy storage.

We performed ab initio calculations of electronic structure and equilibrium properties for the rare earth superstoichiometric dihydride GdH2.25 （with the space group Pm-3m （No. 221）） using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method （FP-LAPW） approach within the density functional theory （DFT） in the generalized gradient approximation （GGA） and local density approximation （ldA） as implemented in the WIEN2k simulation code at 0 K. The equilibrium properties were determined, the density of states, electronic density and the energy band structures were studied in details. It was concluded that the GGA optimized lattice parameter agreed much better with the experimental findings than the ldA one, The non negligible electronic density of states at the Fermi level confirmed that the GdH2.25 had a metallic character. The Fermi energy EF fell at a level where most of the states were rare-earth 5d-eg conduction states while negligible contributions of both interstitial （tetrahedral and octahedral） H s-states were observed near EF, From electronic density, the bonding between Gd and tetrahedral H atoms was of prominent covalency, while was ionic between Gd and octahedral H atoms.

background:To study the characteristics of HDL subclasses distribution profile according to the levels of apoCⅢ along with change in apoCⅢ-CⅡ,apoCⅢ-A-I levels simultaneously. Methods:apoAI contents of plasma HDL subclasses were quantitated by two-dimensional gel electrophore- sis coupled with immunodetection in 511 subjects. Results:Comparing with the lowest tertile of apoCⅢ group,a significance increase in preβ1-HDL, HDL3 (HDL3c,HDL3b,and HDL3a) whereas a significance reduction in HDL2a,HDL2b are observed for subjects with middle and the highest tertile of apoCⅢ *** the elevation of apoCⅢ together with apoC- Ⅱ,the contents of small-sized preβ1-HDL increased successively and significantly,but those of large-sized HDL2b contents reduced successively and *** a rise in apoCⅢ and apoA Ⅰ,those of preβ1-HDL increased ***,a considerable increase for HDL2b occurred in the higher apoA Ⅰ levels group,to contrary,there was significant decrease for it in the lower apoA Ⅰ levels group with the increase of apoCⅢ levels. Conclusions:The particle size of HDL shifted towards smaller sizes with the increase of plasma apoCⅢ levels,especially in apoCHI-apoCⅡ levels simultaneous,which,in turn,the efficiency of reverse cholesterol transport was weakened and the maturation of HDL was *** higher apoA Ⅰ concentrations could modi- fy the effect of apoCⅢ on HDL subclasses distribution profile.

We use density functional perturbation theory based on the pseudo-potential to calculate the phonon spectrum, phonon density of states, specific heat capacity and mechanical properties of pristine and cobalt doped （5,0） single wall carbon nanotube （CNT）. In the calculations, we consider one Co atom in the center of the unit cell of the tube and it is shown that the pristine （5~0） CNT is nonmagnetic while the Co-doped tube becomes magnetic. Young＇s modulus for both systems is about 1 TPa （＇after Co-doping it goes slightly higher） and the Poisson ratio for the pristine tube becomes quite a bit larger than the doped one. On the other hand, the calculated value of radial breath mode for the pristine CNT is in good agreement with the experimental reports while after Co-doping it is increased. In addition, heat capacity of the doped CNT is reduced, which leads to some important empirical applications.
