Nanoprodrugs that are directly assembled by prodrugs attract considerable attention with high anticancer ***,their stability and efficiency of tumor-targeted delivery remain a major challenge in practical biomedical ***,we report a new deep tumor-penetrating nano-delivery strategy to achieve enhanced anti-cancer performance by systematic optimization of a porphyrin-doxorubicin-based nanoprodrug using various PEGylations/crosslinks and co-administration of targeting peptide *** glycols(PEGs)with different molecular weights and grafts are employed to crosslink the nanoprodrug and optimize size,charge,tumor accumulation and penetration,and anti-cancer efficiency,*** tumor penetration was validated in syngeneic oral cancer mouse models,patient-derived xenograft(PDX)models,and oral cancer tissue from *** optimized nanoprodrug co-administrated with irGD remarkably enhances the accumulation and penetration both in tumor vascular and PDX tumor *** is effective and safe to improve in vivo therapeutic efficacy via the passive tumor targeting dependent and independent *** tumor-penetrating nano-delivery strategy is promising to strengthen the nanoprodrugs in clinical implementation.

Application of rare earths in fluid catalytic cracking： A review

The need for more active and hydrothermally stable fluid catalytic cracking（FCC）catalysts to combat the effect of metal contaminants has led to an increase in demand for rare earth *** earth oxides enhance catalyst activity and prevent the loss of acid sites during the FCC unit operation,especially when heavy residue with high metal content is used as *** this paper,a review was carried out to show the effects of rare earth elements on the structure,activity,and stability of FCC ***,the use of rare earth elements as vanadium traps was analyzed in conjunction with the mechanism of catalyst deactivation by *** objective was to elucidate the interaction of vanadium species with the zeolite component of the FCC catalysts and the role of rare earth elements in countering the deleterious effects of vanadium on the FCC catalysts.

Examining approaches for modeling individual tree growth response to thinning in Norway spruce

Using periodic measurements from permanent plots in non-thinned and thinned Norway spruce(Picea abies(L.)***.)stands in Norway,individual-tree growth models were developed to predict annual diameter increment,height increment,and height to crown base *** on long-term data across a range of thinning regimes and stand conditions,alternative approaches for modeling response to treatment were *** thinning response functions in the form of multiplicative modifiers that predict no effect at the time of thinning,a rapid increase followed by an early maximum before the effect gradually declines to zero could not be fitted to initially derived baseline models without thinning related ***,alternative approaches were used and found to perform ***,indicator variables representing varying time periods after thinning were statistically significant and behaved in a robust manner as well as consistent with general *** addition,they improved overall prediction accuracy when incorporated as fixed effects into the baseline models for diameter and height to crown base ***,more simply,including exponentially decreasing multiplicative thinning response functions improved prediction accuracy for height increment and height to crown base *** of studied attribute and modelling approach,improvement in performance of these extended models was relatively limited when compared to the corresponding baseline models and more pronounced in trees from thinned *** conclude that the largely varying and often multi-year measurement intervals of the periodic data used in this study likely prevented the development of more sophisticated thinning response ***,based on the evaluation of the final models’overall performance such complex response functions may not to be necessary to reliably predict individual tree growth after thinning for certain conditions or species,which should be f

Anti-bat tiger moth sounds:Form and function

The night sky is the venue of an ancient acoustic battle between echolocating bats and their insect prey. Many tiger moths （Lepidoptera： Arctiidae） answer the attack calls of bats with a barrage of high frequency clicks. Some moth species use these clicks for acoustic aposematism and mimicry, and others for sonar jamming, however, most of the work on these defensive functions has been done on individual moth species. We here analyze the diversity of structure in tiger moth sounds liom 26 spe- cies collected at three locations in North and South America. A principal components analysis of the anti-bat tiger moth sounds reveals that they vary markedly along three axes：（1） frequency, （2） duty cycle （sound production per unit time） and frequency modulation, and （3） modulation cycle （clicks produced during flexion and relaxation of the sound producing tymbal） structure. Tiger moth species appear to cluster into two distinct groups： one with low duty cycle and few clicks per modulation cycle that supports an acoustic aposematism function, and a second with high duty cycle and many clicks per modulation cycle that is con- sistent with a sonar jamming function. This is the first evidence from a community-level analysis to support multiple functions for tiger moth sounds. We also provide evidence supporting an evolutionary history for the development of these strategies. Further- more, cross-correlation and spectrogram correlation measurements failed to support a ＂phantom echo＂ mechanism underlying sonar jamming, and instead point towards echo interference [Current Zoology 56 （3）： 358-369, 2010].

Comparison of three regionalization techniques for predicting streamflow in ungaged watersheds in Nebraska,USA using SWAT model

This study compared three approaches,regional averaging,nearest neighbor,and donor techniques,to regionalize parameters in the Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT)on eleven watersheds located in the Dissected Plains,Plains,and rolling Hills Landforms in the eastern portion of the State of Nebraska,*** the rolling Hills Landform,three watersheds were randomly selected as calibration watersheds while two were randomly selected as validation *** watersheds were randomly selected as calibration watersheds while one was randomly selected as a validation watershed within each of the Dissected Plains and Plains *** seven calibration watersheds were used to provide the necessary calibrated parameter sets to execute each of the regional approaches,while the four validation watersheds were used to assess the impact of applying each of these approaches to an uncalibrated *** Bias(PBIAS)and the Nash Sutcliffe Coefficient of Efficiency(NSE)were used to assess model *** results of this study show that all three methods performed poorly,since the majority of watersheds among each method tested exhibited PBIAS values greater than ±25% and/or NSE values less than 0.50,which were considered to be unsatisfactory in terms of model *** average regionalization,nearest neighbor and donor methods resulted in only four(two calibration and two validation),zero and one satisfactory set of simulated watershed results,*** findings from this study indicate that although each watershed was successfully calibrated with NSE values ranging from 0.51 to 0.84,none of the three regionalization methods provided suitable calibration data sets to define parameter values for performing satisfactory simulations on ungaged watersheds across the eastern Nebraska landscape.

Closed-loop drip irrigation control using a hybrid wireless sensor and actuator network

In this research, a closed-loop drip irrigation control hybrid wireless sensor and actuator network (HWSAN) prototype were developed and deployed in a crop field for soil property precise measurement and precision irrigation in accordance with the measured soil property. The HWSAN was composed of a wireless sensor and actuator network (WSAN) used for in-field soil property monitoring and irrigation control and a laboratory supervising system. The WSAN included ten sensor nodes, five irrigation control nodes, a central node, a gateway and a cellular modem. The laboratory supervising system was formed by a web-server. The system could automatically sample soil properties including soil moisture, electrical conductivity, and nearsurface temperature at four different depths underground and transmit field data through cellular network to the web-server. Closed-loop control was achieved through the control nodes listening uploading packets from its paired sensor nodes to control drip irrigation. results from the quality of service (QoS) evaluation included: the data packet transmission rate was 84.76%, data accuracy rate was greater than 97% and no in-field data transmission errors.

The kinetics of static recovery by dislocation climb

The initial microstructure of a wide range of structural materials is conditioned by thermo-mechanical treatments such as hot-working,tempering,or solution *** the elevated temperatures associated with these treatments the dislocation microstructure evolves,usually decreasing in density through a process known as static *** its technological relevance,static recovery is not fully characterized from a theoretical standpoint,with even the controlling mechanisms subject to *** this study,a climb-enabled discrete dislocation dynamics(DDD)capability is leveraged to explore the kinetics of static recovery in pure Fe when controlled by dislocation *** data from these simulations is used to develop a revised static recovery law,and provides the parameters appropriate for predictive microstructure models in *** law differs from previous analytical derivations invoking climb of dislocations,following the logarithmic trends typical of experimental observations where prior work did *** comparison between the recovery law derived from DDD to experimental recovery data in alpha Fe shows strong agreement across a range of temperatures,and suggests that climb is the controlling mechanism for static recovery in pure metals.

A Grid-friendly Neighborhood Energy Trading Mechanism

More customers are tending to install batteries with photovoltaic(PV), so they can better control their electricity bills. In this context, customers may be tempted to go offgrid at a substantial up-front cost, leading electricity companies into a death spiral, thereby raising electricity price further on those remaining on grid. Neighborhood energy markets can promote the sharing of locally generated renewable energy and encourage prosumers to stay on grid with financial incentives. A novel neighborhood energy trading(NET) mechanism is developed using the topology of existing radial distribution network to encourage sustainable energy sharing in neighborhood and encourage prosumers to stay on grid. This mechanism considers loss, congestion management, and voltage regulation, and it is scalable with low computation and communication *** IEEE test system is used to validate the NET *** simulation shows that the price and flow results are obtained with fast computation speed(within 10 iterations) and with loss reflected, flow limit reinforced, and voltage *** study proves that the economic demand-supply-based pricing mechanism can be applied effectively in distribution networks to help encourage more renewable energy sharing in sustainable neighborhood and avoid energy network death spiral.
