Supplementation with sodium butyrate improves growth and antioxidant function in dairy calves before weaning

Background: There is increasing research interest in using short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs) including butyrate as potential alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in animal production. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB) in liquid feeds(milk, milk replacer, and the mixture of both)on the growth performance, rumen fermentation, and serum antioxidant capacity and immunoglobins in dairy calves before weaning. Forty healthy female Holstein calves(4-day-old, 40 ± 5 kg of body weight) were housed in individual hutches and randomly allocated to 1 of 4 treatment groups(n = 10 per group) using the RAND function in Excel. The control group was fed no SB(SB0), while the other three groups were supplemented with 15(SB15),30(SB30), or 45(SB45) g/d of SB mixed into liquid feeds offered. The calves were initially fed milk only(days 2 to 20), then a mixture of milk and milk replacer(days 21 to 23), and finally milk replacer only(days 24 to 60).Results: The SB supplementation enhanced growth and improved feed conversion into body weight gain compared with the SB0 group, and the average daily gain increased quadratically with increasing SB supplementation. No significant effect on rumen pH;concentrations of NH_3-N, individual and total VFAs;or acetate:propionate(A:P) ratio was found during the whole experimental period. Serum glutathione peroxidase activity increased linearly with the increased SB supplementation, while the serum concentration of maleic dialdehyde linearly decreased. Serum concentrations of immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G, or immunoglobulin M were not affected by the SB supplementation during the whole experimental ***: Under the conditions of this study, SB supplementation improved growth performance and antioxidant function in pre-weaned dairy calves. Enzymatically prepared alginate oligosaccharides improve broiler chicken growth performance by modulating the gut microbiota and growth hormone signals

As a primary defense technique, intrusion detection becomes more and more significant since the security of the networks is one of the most critical issues in the world. We present an adaptive collaboration intrusion detection method to improve the safety of a network. A self-adaptive and collaborative intrusion detection model is built by applying the Environmentsclasses, agents, roles, groups, and objects(E-CARGO) model. The objects, roles, agents, and groups are designed by using decision trees(DTs) and support vector machines(SVMs), and adaptive scheduling mechanisms are set up. The KDD CUP 1999 data set is used to verify the effectiveness of the method. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed collaborative and adaptive intrusion detection method. Also, the proposed method is shown to be more predominant than the methods that use a set of single type support vector machine(SVM) in terms of detection precision rate and recall rate.

Solid state recycling of Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr alloy chips by spark plasma

Time-Dependent Tsunami Source Following the 2018 Anak Krakatau Volcano Eruption Inferred from Nearby Tsunami Recordings

The eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano,Indonesia,on 22 December 2018 induced a destructive tsunami(the Sunda Strait tsunami),which was recorded by four nearby tidal *** this study we invert the tsunami records and recover the tsunami generation *** tsunami sources are obtained,a static one of instant initial water elevation and a time-dependent one accounting for the continuous evolution of water *** time-dependent results are found to reproduce the tsunami recordings more *** complete tsunami generation process lasts approximately 9 min and features a two-stage evolution with similar *** stage lasts about 3.5 min and elevates a water volume of about 0.13 *** time,duration and volume of the volcano eruption in general agree with seismic records and geomorphological *** also test different sizes of the potential source region,which lead to different maximum wave height in the source area,but all the results of time-dependent tsunami sources show the robust feature of two stages of wave *** results imply a time-dependent and complex process of tsunami generation during the volcano eruption.

Investigation on Bodily Fault in Doped W Wire by Electronic Miscroscope

The forming process of the bodil y fault in doped W wire was observed by SEM and TEM. The forming kinetics was de scibed by the perturbing theory. The interaction among the bodily fault and the dislocation or the grain boundary was also observed. The strengthen effect cause d by the interaction is counted initially by each submitted probable models. The results show that the strengthening mechanism at middle and high temperature is different.

Study on Match Relationship between Rail and Wheel

Global Optimization Method Using SLE and Adaptive RBF Based on Fuzzy Clustering

High fidelity analysis models,which are beneficial to improving the design quality,have been more and more widely utilized in the modern engineering design optimization ***,the high fidelity analysis models are so computationally expensive that the time required in design optimization is usually *** order to improve the efficiency of optimization involving high fidelity analysis models,the optimization efficiency can be upgraded through applying surrogates to approximate the computationally expensive models,which can greately reduce the computation *** efficient heuristic global optimization method using adaptive radial basis function（RBF） based on fuzzy clustering（ARFC） is *** this method,a novel algorithm of maximin latin hypercube design using successive local enumeration（SLE） is employed to obtain sample points with good performance in both space-filling and projective uniformity properties,which does a great deal of good to metamodels *** method is adopted for constructing the metamodels,and with the increasing the number of sample points the approximation accuracy of RBF is gradually *** fuzzy c-means clustering method is applied to identify the reduced attractive regions in the original design *** numerical benchmark examples are used for validating the performance of *** results demonstrates that for most application examples the global optima are effectively obtained and comparison with adaptive response surface method（ARSM） proves that the proposed method can intuitively capture promising design regions and can efficiently identify the global or near-global design *** method improves the efficiency and global convergence of the optimization problems,and gives a new optimization strategy for engineering design optimization problems involving computationally expensive models.
