Low phase noise K-band signal generation using polarization diverse single-soliton integrated microcombs

Frequency microcombs with microwave and millimeter-wave repetition rates provide a compact solution for coherent communication and information *** implementation of these microcombs using a CMOS-compatible platform further paves the way for large-scale photonic integration and ***,we demonstrate free-running soliton microcombs with K-band repetition rates with very low phase noise over a 4 GHz pump detuning range reaching−117(−123)dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset for a 19.7(10)GHz carrier without active pump stabilization,exceeding commercial electronic microwave oscillators at frequency offsets above 40 *** minimum laser noise to soliton microwave signal transduction factor observed is−*** noise performance is achieved using a hybridized dual-mode for soliton generation to achieve passive thermal stabilization and minimal soliton spectrum shift from prior Raman scattering and dispersive wave *** further examine the locking of the repetition rate to an external ultrastable photonic oscillator to illustrate the feasibility of phase noise suppression below the thermorefractive noise limits of microresonator frequency combs.

Assessing the Impact of Regulations on Radiation Safety Culture and Practices in Radiology Departments

Background: The need to establish a strong culture around radiation safety is derived from the assertion that medical practitioners, patients, and third parties should not be exposed to unnecessary radiation. Authorities have endeavored to enact policies to protect all employers and patients in radiology departments. Objectives: To assess the impact of radiation safety practices and regulations on the ongoing improvements in radiation safety culture and practices in radiology departments. This will be achieved through a subjective assessment of national and international rules and regulations by healthcare professionals. Materials and Methods: We conducted a questionnaire survey in the radiology departments of three JCI-accredited hospitals in the Riyadh region to identify and assess the impact of national radiation regulations and the accompanying processes on the improvement of radiation safety culture and practices in radiology departments. Results: There were statistically significant differences in the grading system results among various groups of respondents, based on their educational level. Also, there are statistically significant differences between the assessments of safety level results in the answers provided by various groups of respondents according to education level in favor of the master’s degree. Conclusion: The study concludes that technicians with a diploma degree require stricter regulation. Furthermore, the results of this study suggest that an exposure tracking system and a regulatory action supporting it may be useful in the ongoing task of improving patients’ radiation safety.

目的本研究旨在调查沙特阿拉伯女性护生在临床实践中的压力水平、压力源和应对策略现状。方法采用横断面调查法。于2022年1-5月,采用便利抽样法选取沙特阿拉伯1所大学中分别在利雅得、吉达和阿拉尔莎参加临床课程的护理学院女生为研究对象,应用一般资料调查表、感知压力量表(the Percei-ved Stress Scale,PSS)和应对行为量表(the Coping Behavior Inventory,CBI)进行资料收集。结果共有322名护生参与此研究,PSS得分为3~99(54.77±0.95)。学业和工作量是护生最常见的压力源类型(2.61±0.94),其次是来自环境的压力(1.18±0.47)。同时,保持乐观为学生最常采用的应对策略(2.38±0.95),其次是转移(2.36±0.71)和问题解决策略(2.35±1.01)。回避应对策略与所有压力源类型呈正相关(P<0.01)。问题解决策略与来自同学和日常生活的压力呈负相关(r=-0.126,P<0.05)。转移与来自学业和工作量的压力(r=0.121,P<0.05)以及来自教师和护理人员的压力(r=0.156,P<0.01)呈正相关。保持乐观策略与护理患者的压力(r=-0.149,P<0.01)以及缺乏专业知识和技能的压力(r=-0.245,P<0.01)呈负相关。结论这些研究结果对于护理教育者确定护理专业女生的主要压力源和使用的应对策略具有重要意义。应采取有效措施减轻学生实习期间的压力水平及改善学生的应对策略。

Seroprevalence of celiac disease among healthy adolescents in Saudi Arabia

AIM: To identify the seroprevalence of celiac disease among healthy Saudi adolescents. METHODS: Between December 2007 and January 2008, healthy students from the 10th to 12th grades were randomly selected from three regions in Saudi Arabia. These regions included the following: (1) Aseer region, with a student population of 25512; (2) Madinah, with a student population of 23852; and (3) Al-Qaseem, with a student population of 16067. Demographic data were recorded, and a venous blood sample (5-10 mL) was taken from each student. The blood samples were tested for immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin G endomysial antibodies (EMA) by indirect ***: In total, 1167 students (614 males and 553 females) from these three regions were randomly selected. The majority of the study population was classified as lower middle class (82.7%). There were 26 (2.2%) students who had a positive anti-EMA test, including 17 females (3.1%) and 9 males (1.5%). Al-Qaseem region had the highest celiac disease prevalence among the three studied regions in Saudi Arabia (3.1%). The prevalence by region was as follows: Aseer 2.1% (10/479), Madinah 1.8% (8/436), and Al-Qaseem 3.2% (8/252). The prevalence in Madinah was significantly lower than the prevalence in Aseer and Al-Qaseem (P=0.02). CONCLUSION: Our data suggest celiac disease prevalence might be one of the highest in the world. Further studies are needed to determine the real prevalence.

Impact of diabetes education on patients suffering from type 2 diabetes in Saudi Arabia

Background:Diabetes health education is an integral component of diabetes *** aim of education is not only to provide knowledge and skills,but also to change patients’attitude and increase motivation towards therapeutic recommendation *** main objective of the study is to compare the impact of diabetes health education for patients with type 2 diabetes in terms of knowledge,health outcomes and effect on glycemic control(glycated hemoglobin,haemoglobin A1c).Methods:A cohort of 110 patients with newly diagnosed diabetes were included in this prospective *** characteristics were retrieved from the medical record of the Al-Jouf Diabetes Center,Saudi ***,diabetic health education program effectiveness and haemoglobin A1c were measured after 3 months health ***:Results showed a significant reduction in mean haemoglobin A1c after education,which was down by 1.47(t=6.07,P<0.001).Whereas,the mean haemoglobin A1c before diabetic education was 9.19±1.70%and after education,it was 7.72±0.80%.The difference is more significant in young Saudi males,those who were married and were more ***,there was no significant with respect to any socio-demographic ***:The findings demonstrate that diabetic education was effective in controlling diabetes and the beneficial effect of this intervention did not differ with respect to socio-economic conditions and demographic ***,early diabetic education can lead to decrease in diabetic related complications.
