A mechanistic model is developed to investigate the influence of an activator on the corrosion rate of carbon steel in the absorption processes of carbon dioxide(CO2).Piperazine(PZ)is used as the activator in diethanolamine(DEA)aqueous *** developed model for corrosion takes into consideration the effect of fluid flow,transfer of charge and diffusion of oxidizing agents and operating parameters like temperature,activator concentration,CO2 loading and *** study consists of two major models:Vapor–liquid Equilibrium(VLE)model and electrochemical corrosion *** electrolyte-NRTL equilibrium model was used for determination of concentration of chemical species in the bulk *** results of speciation were subsequently used for producing polarization curves and predicting the rate of corrosion occurring at the surface of *** increase in concentration of activator,increases the rate of corrosion of carbon steel in mixtures of activated DEA.

Amine-based absorption/stripping is one of the promising technology for CO2 capture from natural and industrial gas *** the process,amines and CO2 undergo irreversible reactions to produce undesired compounds,which cause corrosion,foaming,increased viscosity and breakdown of equipment,ultimately contributing to the economic loss and environmental *** this study,the thermal degradation of aqueous diethanolamine in the presence and absence of dissolved CO2 was *** experiments were performed in stainless steel *** results show that thermal degradation in the absence of CO2 was a slow process;triethanolamine,and tris(2-aminoethyl)amine were only the degradation products identified in the mixture In addition,the rate of degradation was very low,only 3%degradation was observed after 4 *** in the presence of CO2,sixteen degradation products were identified,nine of which were new degradation products reported for the first time in this *** 3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-oxazolidinone,1,4-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine and triethanolamine were the most abundant degradation *** remaining DEA concentration after 4 weeks was about 20%of the total amine *** most probable degradation reactions and their mechanisms are also proposed.

Alkanolamines are widely used in the purification of the sourgas sweetening process. During the sour gas absorption process, CO_2 significantly degrades the amine solvent and creates enormous problems for plant operation. In this work, CO_2 induced degradation of aqueous diethanolamine(DEA) solution was conducted in a 1.25 L jacketed glass reactor that functioned as an absorber and stripper at atmospheric conditions. Pure CO_2 was bubbled through the reactor until the solution became saturated. In this study, the concentrations of DEA used were in the range of concentrations between 2 mol·L^(-1) and 4 mol·L^(-1). In the degradation experiment, six generic cycles were conducted for each run. Each cycle was configured with the absorption and desorption of carbon dioxide at 55 ℃ and 100 ℃, respectively. Samples were collected after a predetermined experimental time and analyzed by ion chromatography(IC) to identify unknown ionic degradation products(DGPs). In the IC analysis, three different columns were used for anion, cation and ion exclusion systems, which are Metrosep A Supp 5150/4.0, Metrosep C Supp 4 150/4.0 and Metrosep Organic Acids, respectively. The major identified DGPs of D01 DEA2 M, D02 DEA3 M, and D03 DEA4 M are nitrite, acetate and ammonium. Phosphate product was found in the degraded amine samples which might be due to the contamination of water or chromatographic system.

We report on the temperature-dependent Schottky barrier in organic solar cells based on PTB7:*** ideality factor is found to increase with temperature decreasing,which is explained by a model in which the solar cell is taken as Schottky barrier ***,the dark current in the device originates from the thermally emitted electrons across the Schottky *** fittings obtained with the thermal emission theory are systematically studied at different *** is concluded that the blend/Ca/Al interface presents great inhomogeneity,which can be described by 2 sets of Gaussian distributions with large zero bias standard *** the decrease of temperature,electrons favor going across the Schottky barrier patches with lower barrier height and as a consequence the ideally factor significantly increases at low temperature.

Tors are mound-like rock landforms,resistant to erosion,that may sometimes reach the size of several storeys of house by *** may develop in different climate regions and different rock types,led by granitic *** this study,tors developed in granitic rocks around Yaylal?village linked to Kürtün county in Gümü?hane were *** study area is located in the eastern part of the Giresun mountain range in northeastern Turkey,2000-2300 m above sea *** aim of the study is to determine the natural environmental characteristics in tor formation and to reveal the effect of bedrock on tor *** field studies,18 tors were selected by noting location,size and structural features,and dimensions were *** sections were first made from the rock samples taken from the tors and then the mineralogical composition was investigated by modal analysis *** a result of this analysis,it was determined that the bedrock forming the tors is *** the field observations,it was determined that the intersecting vertical joints supported the formation of castle-like tors,while the horizontal joints supported the formation of pita pileshaped *** are also pseudokarstic shapes resembling kamenitza and karst *** conclusion,joint sets causing local resistance differences directed the formation of tors,while excess slope affected surface erosion and suitability of climate conditions-controlled weathering rate.

This paper numerically investigates the effect of the location of a horizontal fin on the melting of a phase change material(PCM)inside a rectangular enclosure heated by multiple discrete pulsed protruding heat *** fin and the phase change material filling the enclosure store the thermal energy extracted from the heat sources,in sensible and latent *** heat sources are assumed to simulate electronic components undergoing a superheating technical *** extracting heat from the electronics,the PCM plays the role of a heat *** analyze the thermal behavior and predict the cooling performance of the proposed cooling system,we derive a nonlinear mathematical model based on mass,momentum and energy conservation *** numerical investigations are conducted to quantify the influence of the fin position on the thermal behavior and the cooling performance of the heat *** include the transient maximum temperature occurring inside the heat sources and the liquid volume.A comparison between our numerical results and experimental data selected from the literature shows a good *** main conclusion is that the presence of the fin leads to a slight increase in the melting time.

Homogeneous and vertically aligned silicon nanowires(siNWs)were successfully fabricated using silver assisted chemical etching *** prepared samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and atomic force *** degradation properties of graphene oxide(GO)modified siNWs have been *** found that the siNWs morphology depends on etching time and etchant *** siNWs length could be tuned from 1 to 42μm,respectively when varying the etching time from 5 to 30 *** etchant concentration was found to accelerate the etching process;doubling the concentrations increases the length of the siNWs by a factor of two for fixed etching *** in bundle morphology were also studied as function of etching *** siNWs diameter was found to be independent of etching time or etchant composition while the size of the siNWs bundle increases with increasing etching time and etchant *** addition of GO was found to improve significantly the photocatalytic activity of siNWs.A strong correlation between etching parameters and photocatalysis efficiency has been observed,mainly for siNWs prepared at optimum etching time and etchant concentrations of 10 min and 4:1:8.A degradation of92%was obtained which further improved to 96%by addition of hydrogen *** degradation efficiency of 16%and 31%has been observed for bare si and GO/bare si samples *** obtained results demonstrate that the developed siNWs/GO composite exhibits excellent photocatalytic performance and could be used as potential platform for the degradation of organic pollutants.

Fossil fuel combustion is one of the major means to meet the mounting global energy demand. However, the increasing NO_x and N_2 O emissions arising from fossil fuel combustion process have hazardous effects. Thus, mitigating these gases is vital to attain a sustainable environment. Interestingly, oxy-fuel combustion in fluidized bed for carbon capture and minimized NO_x emissions is strongly sustainable compare to the other approaches. It was assessed that NO_x formation and fuel-N conversion have significant limitation under oxy-fluidized bed compared to air mode and the mechanism of NO_x formation is still deficient and requires further development. In addition, this review paper discussed the potential of primary measure as low emission process with others supplementary techniques for feasible NO_x reduction. The influences of combustion mode, operating parameters, and reduction techniques such as flue gas recirculation, oxygen staging, biomass co-firing, catalyst, influence of fluidized bed design and structure, decoupling combustion and their merges are respectively evaluated. Findings show that significant minimization of NO_x emission can be achieved through combination of primary and secondary reduction techniques.

One of the challenging tasks in cognitive radio(CR) networks is to agree on a common control channel to exchange control information. This paper presents a novel medium access control(MAC) protocol for CR network which efficiently and intelligently establishes a common control channel between CR nodes. The proposed protocol is the first CR MAC protocol which is hybrid in nature and lies between global common control channel(GCCC) and non-GCCC family of MAC protocols. The dynamic nature of the protocol makes the CR nodes converge on a newly found control channel quicker whenever the interference from a licensed user is sensed. The analytical results show that the dynamic, hybrid and adaptive nature of proposed protocol yields higher throughputs when compared with other CR MAC protocols.
