By using the method of coincidence degree and Lyapunov functional, a set ofeasily applicable criteria are established for the global existence and global asymptotic stabilityof strictly positive (componentwise) periodic solution of a periodic n-species Lotka-Volterracompetition system with feedback controls and several deviating arguments. The problem considered inthis paper is in many aspects more general and incorporate as special cases various problems whichhave been studied extensively in the literature. Moreover, our new criteria, which improve andgeneralize some well known results, can be easily checked.

The objective of this systemic review was to evaluate the benefit of repairing clinical varicocele in infertile men with nonobstructive azoospermia （NOA）. The surgically obtained sperm retrieval rate （SRR） and pregnancy rates following assisted reproductive technology （ART） with the use of retrieved testicular sperm were the primary outcomes. The secondary outcomes included the presence of viable sperm in postoperative ejaculate to avoid the testicular sperm retrieval and pregnancy rates （both assisted and unassisted） using postoperative ejaculated sperm. An electronic search to collect the data was performed using the MEDLINE and EMBASE databases until April 2015. Eighteen studies were included in this systematic review and accounted for 468 patients who were diagnosed with NOA and varicocele. These patients were subjected to either surgical varicocele repair or percutaneous embolization. Three controlled studies evaluating sperm retrieval outcomes indicated that in patients who underwent varicocelectomy, SRR increased compared to those without varicocele repair （OR： 2,65; 95% Cl. 1.69-4.14; p 〈 0.001）. Although pregnancy rates with the use of testicular sperm favored the varicocelectomy group, results were not statistically significant （clinical pregnancy rate OR： 2.07; 95% CI： 0.92-4.65; p = 0.08; live birth rate OR： 2.19; 95% CI： 0.99-4.83; p = 0.05）. The remaining fifteen studies reported postoperative semen analysis results. In 43.9% of the patients （range： 20.8%-55.0%）, sperm were found in postoperative ejaculates. pregnancy rates for unassisted and assisted （after IVF/ICSI） were 13.6% and 18.9% in the group of men with sperm in postoperative ejaculates, respectively. Our findings indicate that varicocelectomy in patients with NOA and clinical varicocele is associated with improved SRR. In addition, approximately 44% of the treated men will have enough sperm in the ejaculate to avoid sperm retrieval. Limited data on pregnancy outcomes with both postoperative

Unicellular cyanobacteria Synechocystis 6803 were fixed using high-pressure freezing （HpF） and freeze substitution without any chemical cross-linkers. Immunoelectron microscopy of these cells showed that five sequential enzymes of the Calvin cycle （phosphoriboisomerase, phosphoribulokinase, ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase （RuBisCO）, 3-phosphoglyceratekinase and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase） and the catalytic portion of the chloroplast H^＋-ATp synthase （CF1） are located adjacent to the thylakoid membranes. Cell-free extracts of Synechocystis were processed by ultracentrifugation to isolate thylakoid fractions sedimenting at 40 000, 90 000, and 150 000 g. Among these, the 150 000-g fraction showed the highest linked activity of the above five sequential Calvin cycle enzymes and also the highest coordinated activity of light and dark reactions as assessed by ribose-5-phosphate （R-5-p）＋ADp dependent CO2 fixation. Immunogold labeling of this membrane fraction confirmed the presence of the above five enzymes as well as the catalytic portion of the CF1 ATp synthase. Notably, the protein A-gold labeling of the thylakoids was observed without use of chemical cross-linkers and in spite of the normal washing steps used during standard immunolabeling. The results showed that soluble Calvin cycle enzymes might be organized along the thylakoid membranes.

This study investigated the effects of varicocele on semen parameters in infertile men based on the new 2010 World Health Organization laboratory manual for the examination of human semen. Semen analysis results （volume, sperm count, motility, and morphology） were the primary outcomes. An electronic search to collect the data was conducted using the Medline/pubMed, SJU discover, and Google Scholar databases. We searched articles published from 2010 to August 2015, i.e., after the publication of the 2010 WHO manual. We included only those studies that reported the actual semen parameters of adult infertile men diagnosed with clinical varicocele and contained a control group of either fertile men or normozoospermic men who were not diagnosed with varicocele. Ten studies were included in the meta-analysis, involving 1232 men. Varicocele was associated with reduced sperm count （mean difference： -44.48 x 106 ml-1; 95% Ch -61.45, -27.51 x 106 ml-1; p〈 0.001）, motility （mean difference： -26.67%; 95% Ch -34.27, -19.08; p 〈 0.001）, and morphology （mean difference： -19.68%; 95% Ch -29.28, -10.07; p 〈 0.001） but not semen volume （mean difference： -0.23 ml; 95% CI： -0.64, 0.17）. Subgroup analyses indicated that the magnitude of effect was influenced by control subtype but not WHO laboratory manual edition used for semen assessment. We conclude that varicocele is a significant risk factor that negatively affects semen quality, but the observed pooled effect size on semen parameters does not seem to be affected by the WHO laboratory manual edition. Given most of the studies published after 2010 still utilized the 1999 manual for semen analysis, further research is required to fully understand the clinical implication of the 2010 WHO laboratory manual on the association between varicocele and semen parameters.

We developed novel synthetic routes to heterocyclic ring systems by using transition metal-mediated or -catalyzed reactions. A Lewis acid-promoted addition of the propargyl Grignard reagent 2 to the Schiff base 1 followed by a silvermediated oxidative cyclization of the homopropargylamine 3 provided the aryl-substituted pyrrole 4. Combined with a chemoselective hydrogenation of the pyrrole ring, this method has been applied to the total synthesis of the biologically active fused indolizidine alkaloids ( ± )-harmicine and ( ± )-crispine A[1]. Camelina(Camelina sativa)has emerged as a potential biofuel crop globally with its suitability even as a jet fuel source with 75–80%less greenhouse gas emissions compared to common petroleum *** crop has originated from Mediterranean region and belongs to Brassicaceae ***,DRDO has made initial and pioneer efforts in successful introduction of this crop to India and its agro-technology *** a short duration crop with lesser input requirement,it fits well in the cropping pattern of hilly states of Indian *** areas experience fallow land due to shortage of irrigation water for growing other *** present study revealed that irrigation at flowering stage is more *** at this stage(if only one irrigation is available)exhibited grain yield of 1.004 kg·m^(-2)which was 21 and 80%higher over pod setting and rosette stage irrigation,*** maximum seed yield was observed under treatment where irrigation was provided at all three crop growth stages(2.044 kg·m^(-2)).It was 50%higher over T6 treatment(where two irrigations were given at rosette and flowering stage)and 104%higher over T3(where only one irrigation was given at flowering stage).

Objective: To undertake metabolite profiling of various plant parts of Citrullus colocynthis, and assess antioxidant and wound healing activities of fractions for therapeutical applications. Methods: Extracts from leaves, stem, root, fruit pulp and seeds were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and high performance liquid chromatography. Variation in antioxidant potential was assayed by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DppH) free radical scavenging assay. The extract with highest antioxidant potential was subjected on in-vivo wound healing activity using excision wound model. Results: Metabolite profiling of Citrullus colocynthis identified 70 chemically diverse metabolites from different plant parts by using a combination of GC-MS and HpLC. Concentration of colocynthin, a principal active secondary metabolite, ranged from 3.15 mg/g dry weight to 242.00 mg/g dry weight, the lowest being in leaves and highest in fruit pulp. DppH radical scavenging activity of free radical(IC50) ranged from 196.44 μg/mL in fruit pulp to 413.33 μg/mL in leaves tissues. Significant wound contraction and increase in hydroxyproline content of granulation tissue were observed with ointment formulated from methanolic extract of fruit pulp. Conclusions: The study indicates that the methanol extract of Citrullus colocynthis fruit pulp when applied topically may promote wound contraction in rat model attributable to the accumulation of colocynthin. The high quantity of colocynthin(242.00 mg/g dry weight) and substantial concentration of 2,4-di-tert butyl phenol(3.2%), squalene(4.2%) and δ-tocopherol(2.5%) make this plant to provide new opportunities for development of medicinal, nutraceutical and dietary supplements with optimized functionality.

AIM To investigate the association of NFKB1 gene-94 ATTG insertion/deletion(rs28362491) polymorphism with inflammatory markers and risk of diabetic nephropathy in Asian *** A total of 300 subjects were recruited(100 each), normoglycemic,(NG); type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) without any complications(DM) and T2 DM with diabetic nephropathy [DM-chronic renal disease(CRD)]. Analysis was carried out by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism and ELISA. pearson's correlation, analysis of variance and logistic regression wereused for statistical *** The allelic frequencies of-94 ATTG insertion/deletion were 0.655/0.345(NG), 0.62/0.38(DM) and 0.775/0.225(DM-CRD). The-94 ATTG ins allele was associated with significantly increased levels of urinary monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(u MCp-1); u MCp-1(p = 0.026) and plasma tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α); TNF-α(p = 0.030) and almost doubled the risk of diabetic nephropathy(OR = 1.91, 95%CI: 1.080-3.386, p = 0.025).CONCLUSION-94 ATTG ins/ins polymorphism might be associated with increased risk of developing nephropathy in Asian Indian subjects with diabetes mellitus.

Testicular cancer seminoma is one of the most common types of cancer among men of reproductive *** with this condition usually present reduced semen quality,even before initiating cancer ***,the underlying mechanisms by which testicular cancer seminoma affects male fertility are largely *** aim of this study was to investigate alterations in the sperm proteome of men with seminoma undergoing sperm banking before starting cancer therapy,in comparison to healthy proven fertile men(control group).A routine semen analysis was conducted before cryopreservation of the samples(n=15 per group).Men with seminoma showed a decrease in sperm motility(p=0.019),total motile count(p=0.001),concentration(p=0.003),and total sperm count(p=0.001).Quantitative proteomic analysis identified 393 differentially expressed proteins between the study *** proteins involved in spermatogenesis,sperm function,binding of sperm to the oocyte,and fertilization were selected for validation by western *** confirmed the underexpression of heat shock-related 70 kDa protein 2(p=0.041),ubiquinol-cytochrome C reductase core protein 2(p=0.026),and testis-specific sodium/potassium-transporting ATpase subunit alpha-4(p=0.016),as well as the overexpression of angiotensin I converting enzyme(p=0.005)in the seminoma *** altered expression levels of these proteins are associated with spermatogenesis dysfunction,reduced sperm kinematics and motility,failure in capacitation and *** findings of this study may explain the decrease in the fertilizing ability of men with seminoma before starting cancer therapy.
