Impact of different nano additives on performance, combustion, emissions and exergetic analysis of a diesel engine using waste cooking oil biodiesel

Biodiesel is derived from waste cooking oil (wCO) by transesterification. methylester was prepared by mixing diesel and biodiesel oils as 20% by volume. Nano particles asTiO2, Al2O3 and CNTs were blended with biodiesel blend at different concentrations of 25,50, and 100 mg/l to enhance the physicochemical fuel characteristics to obtain clean and effi-cient combustion performance. An experimental setup was incorporated into a diesel engine toinvestigate the influence of these nano-materials on engine performance, exergy analysis, combustion characteristics and emissions using wCO biodiesel-diesel mixture. Enriching methylester mixture with 100 ppm titanium, alumina and CNTs (B20T100, B20A100 andB20C100) increased the thermal efficiency by 4%, 6% and 11.5%, respectively compared toB20. Biodiesel blending with nano additives B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100 decreasedthe emissions of CO (11%, 24% and 30%, respectively), HC (8%, 17% and 25%, respectively)and smoke (10%, 13% and 19%, respectively) compared to B20. However, the noticeable increase of NOx was estimated by 5%, 12% and 27% for B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100,respectively. Finally, the results showed the rise in peak cylinder pressure by 5%, 9% and 11% and increase in heat release rate by 4%, 8% and 13% for B20T100, B20A100 andB20C100, respectively. The fuel exergy of B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100 are lower thanbiodiesel blend B20 by 6.5%, 16% and 23% but the exergetic efficiency are increased by 7%,19% and 30% at full load about B20.

Performance,emissions and exergy analyses of adding CNTs to various biodiesel feedstocks

Extraction of biodiesel from waste cooking oil,jatropha,and corn oils is done by *** and biodiesel were blended at 20%volume ratio to make methyl *** doses of 25,50,and 100 mg/l,carbon nanotubes(CNTs)was mixed with biodiesel *** objective of the present research is to examine experimentally a diesel engine performance,combustion characteristics,exergy and emissions analyses with inclusion of nano additive to various methyl ester *** ester blend is enriched with CNTs as JB20C100,wB20C100 and CB20C100 where the improvements in thermal efficiency are raised about biodiesel mixture by 9%,13%and 15%,*** of 100 ppm of CNTs to biodiesel blends achieves the greatest reductions in CO(14%,22%and 30%),HC(16%,20%and 25%),and smoke emissions(15%,19%and 23%)for JB20C100,wB20C100 and CB20C100,*** comparing with B20,blending 100 ppm CNTs with JB20,CB20,and wB20 obtained the highest increases in cylinder pressure of 3%,5%,and 10%,as well as the highest increases in heat release of 4%,7%,and 11%,*** downside of CNTs addition achieves a rise in NOx emissions by 10%,17%,and 22%for JB20C100,wB20C100,and CB20C100,*** efficiency increases by 8%,19%,and 24%for B20T100,B20A100,and B20C100,*** index improvements achieve 1.5%,5%and 6.5%,for B20T100,B20A100,and B20C100,***20 with CNTs of 100 ppm is highly recommended for improving engine performance,combustion,and exergy characteristics with considerable emissions reduction.

Allocation and sizing of reactive power compensators considering PV power and load demand uncertainty using beetle-antenna grey wolf optimization

Distributed photovoltaic(PV)systems play an important role in supplying many recent *** absence of reactive power support for these small-scale PV plants increases total microgrid losses and voltage-instability *** power compensations(RPCs)should be integrated to enhance both microgrid losses and voltage *** planning is a non-linear,complicated *** this paper,a combined RPC allocation and sizing algorithm is *** RPC-integrating buses are selected using a new adaptive approach of loss sensitivity *** the sizing process,the uncertainties in PV power and load demand are modelled using proper probability density *** simulation techniques for handling uncertainties are compared to define the accurate and fast accurate method as follows:monte Carlo simulation(mCS),scenario tree construction and reduction method,and point estimation method(PEm).The load flow equations are solved using the forward-backward sweep *** are optimally sized using the beetle-antenna-based strategy with grey wolf optimization(BGwO)to overcome the local minima problem that appeared in the other pre-proposed *** have been compared using particle swarm optimization and conventional *** proposed model is verified using the IEEE 33 radial bus *** expected power loss has been reduced by 22% and 31% using compensation of 26% and 44%,*** results obtained prove that the BGwO optimal power flow and PEm to handle the uncertainty can significantly reduce the computation time with sufficient *** the study conditions,PEm reduces the computation time to 4 minutes compared with 4 hours for mCS,with only a 3% error compared with mCS as an uncertainty benchmark method.

with the advent of Reinforcement Learning(RL)and its continuous progress,state-of-the-art RL systems have come up for many challenging and real-world *** the scope of this area,various techniques are found in the *** such notable technique,multiple Deep Q-Network(DQN)based RL systems use multiple DQN-based-entities,which learn together and communicate with each *** learning has to be distributed wisely among all entities in such a scheme and the inter-entity communication protocol has to be carefully *** more complex DQNs come to the fore,the overall complexity of these multi-entity systems has increased many folds leading to issues like difficulty in training,need for high resources,more training time,and difficulty in fine-tuning leading to performance *** a cue from the parallel processing found in the nature and its efficacy,we propose a lightweight ensemble based approach for solving the core RL *** uses multiple binary action DQNs having shared state and *** benefits of the proposed approach are overall simplicity,faster convergence and better performance compared to conventional DQN based *** approach can potentially be extended to any type of DQN by forming its *** extensive experimentation,promising results are obtained using the proposed ensemble approach on OpenAI Gym tasks,and Atari 2600 games as compared to recent *** proposed approach gives a stateof-the-art score of 500 on the Cartpole-v1 task,259.2 on the LunarLander-v2 task,and state-of-the-art results on four out of five Atari 2600 games.

Braking efficiency is characterized by reduced braking time and distance,and therefore passenger safety depends on the design of the braking *** the braking of a vehicle,the braking system must dissipate the kinetic energy by transforming it into heat energy.A too high temperature can lead to an almost total loss of braking *** excessive rise in brake temperature can also cause surface cracks extending to the outside edge of the drum friction *** transfer and temperature gradient,not to forget the vehicle’s travel environment(high speed,heavy load,and steeply sloping road conditions),must thus be the essential criteria for any brake system *** aim of the present investigation is to analyze the thermal behavior of different brake drum designs during the single emergency braking of a heavy-duty vehicle on a steeply sloping *** calculation of the temperature field is performed in transient mode using a three-dimensional finite element model assuming a constant coefficient of *** this study,the influence of geometrical brake drum configurations on the thermal behavior of brake drums with two different materials in grey cast iron FG200 and aluminum alloy 356.0 reinforced with silicon carbide(SiC)particles is analyzed under extreme vehicle braking *** numerical simulation results obtained using FE software ANSYS are qualitatively compared with the results already published in the literature.

There are several challenges that hospitals are facing according to the emergency department(ED).Themain two issues are department capacity and lead ***,the lack of consensus on performance criteria to evaluateEDincreases the complication of this ***,this study aims to evaluate the efficiency of the emergency department in 20 Egyptian hospitals(12 private and 8 general hospitals)based on 13 performance *** research suggests an integrated evaluation model assess ED under a framework of plithogenic *** proposed framework addressed uncertainty and ambiguity in information with an efficient manner via presenting the evaluation expression by plithogenic *** Envelopment Analysis(DEA)technique is used in order to measure the efficiency of the emergency department of 20 hospitals according to the number of treated patients and effect on patient’s life quality based on 11 *** the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP),the weight of efficiency factors will be measured based on neutrosophic linguistic scale pairwise *** operations provide more accurate aggregation result according to contradiction degree between criteria *** results show that ten of the hospitals are providing efficient service in their emergency department,while the other ten are less *** analysis of the results shows that 58%of private hospitals emergency department is operating efficiently,while the efficient general hospitals represent 38%.

This paper investigates a polygonal finite element(PFE)to solve a two-dimensional(2D)incompressible steady fluid problem in a cavity *** is a well-known standard benchmark(i.e.,lid-driven cavity flow)-to evaluate the numerical methods in solving fluid problems controlled by the Navier-Stokes(N-S)equation *** approximation solutions provided in this research are based on our developed equal-order mixed PFE,called *** is an exciting development based on constructing the mixed scheme method of two equal-order discretisation spaces for both fluid pressure and velocity fields of flows and our proposed stabilisation *** this research,to handle the nonlinear problem of N-S,the Picard iteration scheme is *** proposed method’s performance and convergence are validated by several simulations coded by commercial software,i.e.,*** this research,the benchmark is executed with variousReynolds numbers up to the maximum Re=*** results then numerously compared to available sources in the literature.
