This is a multicentre forensic study that identifies all sports-related sudden deaths (sRsDs) in young people,due to myocardial diseases (mDs) that occurred in a large area of *** aim of the study is to assess the epidemiology,causes of death,and sport activities associated with these *** is a retrospective study based on forensic autopsies performed in the provinces of Biscay,seville,Valencia and in the jurisdiction covered by the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic sciences in madrid (spain).The retrospective study encompasses from 2010 to *** sudden cardiac deaths (sCDs) in persons 1-35years old were *** total number of sCDs were divided into death occurred during exercise (sRsD) and death during rest,sleep or normal activities (non-sRsD).each of these two groups was subdivided according to the cause of death into mD (primary cardiomyopathies and myocarditis) and ***-pathological,toxicological and genetic characteristics of sRsD due to mD were *** the 8-year study period,we identified 645 cases of sCD in the young: 75 sRsD (11.6%) and 570 non-sRsD (88.4%).mD was diagnosed in 33 (44.0%) of the sRsD and in 112 (19.6%) of the non-sRsD *** cases of sRsD due to mD were males (mean age (24.0±7.6) years) practicing recreational sports (85%).sRsDs were more frequent in arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACm) (37%) and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCm) (24%),followed by myocarditis (15%) and idiopathic left ventricular hypertrophy (ILVH) (9%).Only in five cases of sRsD the mD responsible of death (HCm) had been diagnosed in *** symptoms related to the disease were present in other seven patients (six of them with ACm).Postmortem genetic studies were performed in 15/28 (54%) primary cardiomyopathies with positive results in 12 (80%) *** most frequent sports disciplines were football (49%) followed by gymnastics (15%) and running (12%).In spain,sRsD in young people due to mDs occurs in mal

Lead Induced Oxidative stress: Beneficial effects of Kombucha Tea

Objective To evaluate the effect of oral administration of Kombucha tea (K-tea) on lead induced oxidative stress. methods sprague Dawley rats were administered 1 mL of 3.8% lead acetate solution daily alone or in combination with K-tea orally for 45 d, and the antioxidant status and lipid peroxidation were evaluated. Results Oral administration of lead acetate to rats enhanced lipid peroxidation and release of creatine phosphokinase and decreased levels of reduced glutathione (Gsh) and antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, sOD and glutathione peroxidase, GPx). Lead treatment did not alter humoral immunity, but inhibited DTH response when compared to the control. Lead administration also increased DNA fragmentation in liver. Oral administration of Kombucha tea to rats exposed to lead decreased lipid peroxidation and DNA damage with a concomitant increase in the reduced glutathione level and GPx activity. Kombucha tea supplementation relieved the lead induced immunosuppression to appreciable levels. Conclusion The results suggest that K-tea has potent antioxidant and immunomodulating properties.

AIm:To assess:(1)frequency and clinical relevanceof gluten sensitive enteropathy(Gse)detected by serology in a mass screening program;(2)sensitivity of antitransglutaminase(tTGA)and antiendomysium antibodies(emA);and(3)adherence to gluten-free diet(GFD)and follow-up. meTHODs:One thousand,eight hundred and sixtyeight subjects recruited from an occupational health department underwent analysis for tTGA and emA and, if positive,duodenal biopsy,DQ2/DQ8 genotyping, clinical feature recording,blood tests,and densitometry were ***>98%of individuals had tTGA mL,this value was established as the cut-off limit of normality and was considered positive when confirmed twice in the same *** to a GFD and follow up were registered. ResULTs:Twenty-six(1.39%)subjects had positive tTGA and/or emA,and 21 underwent biopsy:six marsh Ⅲ(oneⅢa,fourⅢb,oneⅢc),nine marshⅠand six marsh 0(frequency of Gse 1:125).The sensitivity of emA for Gse was 46.6%(11.1%for marshⅠ,100% for marshⅢ),while for tTGA,it was 93.3%(88.8% for marshⅠ,100%for marshⅢ).All 15 patients with abnormal histology had clinical features related to ***ⅠandⅢsubjects had more abdominal pain than marsh 0(P=0.029),and a similar trend was observed for distension and *** differences in the percentage of osteopenia were found between marshⅠandⅢ(P=0.608).Adherence to follow-up was 69.2%.Of 15 Gse patients,66.7%followed a GFD with 80%responding to it. CONCLUsION:Gse in the general population is frequent and clinically relevant,irrespective of histological *** is the marker of *** screening programs are useful in identifying patients who can benefit from GFD and follow-up.

Physical Characteristics explain Ball-Carrying Capability in sub-elite Rugby Union Players

Purpose The aims of the present study were two-fold:(i)to investigate the relationship between physical characteristics and the game statistics associated with ball-carrying capability amongst sub-elite rugby union players,and(ii)to predict the level of change in these physical characteristics required to improve the associated game statistic via regression *** Thirty-eight senior professional players(forwards,n=22;backs,n=16)were assessed for body mass(Bm),back squat(Bs)single-repetition maximum(1Rm)normalised to Bm(1Rm/Bm),10 m sprint velocity(s10),10 m sprint momentum(sm10),and the game statistics from 22 games within the 2019/20 RFU Championship *** relationship between these measures and the predicted level of change in a physical measure required to improve the total number of the associated game statistic by one were assessed by Pearson’s correlation coefficient and simple regression *** In forwards,an~11.5%reduction in Bm,an~11.8%improvement in Bs 1Rm/Bm,or an~11.5%increase in s10 was required to improve the game statistics associated with ball-carrying *** backs,a~19.3%increase in Bm or a~15.6%improvement in sm10 was *** These findings demonstrate that improvements in lower-body relative strength,acceleration performance,and position-specific alterations in body mass are required to maximise the ball-carrying capability and therefore match outcome of sub-elite rugby union players.

The different chemical composition of silicon and manganese as well as different retained austenite fraction ranged from 4% to 10% of the high strength and high elongation steels were studied in the paper. The dislocations and carbon concentration in retained austenite were observed by a transmission electron microscope and an electric probe analyzer, respectively. The experimental results showed that silicon and manganese are two fundamental alloying elements to stabilize austenite effectively but retaining austenite in different mechanisms. meanwhile, the cooling processing played an important role in controlling the fraction of retained austenite of the hot-rolled high strength and high plasticity steels.

In coal mines in such countries as China and Russia,most of the coal mine methane(Cmm) generated during mining is emitted to the atmosphere without any effective usage,because the methane concentration of Cmm is relatively low and not allowed to be used as fuel for safety *** is one of the greenhouse ***,if it becomes possible to concentrate Cmm to an acceptable level for use as fuel,this will greatly contribute to reduction of greenhouse gas *** the aim of gaining approval as a greenhouse gas emission reduction of the clean development mechanism(CDm) or joint implementation(JI) project,we developed a Cmm concentration system to apply the vacuum pressure swing adsorption(VPsA) technology using a high methane-selective adsorbent by Osaka Gas Co.,*** pilot-scale plant of a Cmm concentration system was installed in a coal mine in Fuxin City in the northeastern China and a demonstration test was commenced in December *** the result,the pilot-scale plant successfully concentrated the raw material gas with a methane concentration of 21%and a flow rate of 1000 Nm3/h to 48%,which exceeded the target of the methane concentration performance(a 25%increase) .The methane recovery rate reached 93%.

In situ laser deposition of NiTi intermetallics for corrosion improvement of Ti-6Al-4V alloy

NiTi intermetallic coatings were fabricated on the surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by melting Ni and Ti powders using laser metal deposition（LmD） *** effects of NiTi reinforcement content on the microstructure,hardness and corrosion properties of the coatings were *** results show that the deposited coatings are characterized by NiTi,NiTi2 and NiTi3 intermetallic *** appreciable increase in corrosion resistance is obtained for all the coatings,and Ti55Ni45 coating shows the highest corrosion resistance;while coatings Ti50Ni50 and Ti45Ni55 follow in that *** reinforcement materials are proven to be corrosion resistant in the tested environment,and the effect of Ti is more dominant.

Alien plant species coexist over time with native ones in Chilean mediterranean grasslands

Aims Alien species are commonly considered as harmful weeds capa-ble of decreasing native biodiversity and threatening *** this assumption,little is known about the long-term patterns of the native-alien relationships associated with human disturbed managed *** study aims to elucidate the commu-nity dynamics associated with a successional gradient in chilean mediterranean grasslands,considering both native and alien *** species richness(natives and aliens separately)and life-form(annu-als and perennials)were recorded in four chilean post-agricultural grazed grasslands each covering a broad successional gradient(from 1 to 40 years since crop abandonment).A detrended correspondence analysis(DcA),mixed model effects analyses and cor-relation tests were conducted to assess how this temporal gradient influenced natives and aliens through community *** Findings Our results show different life-form patterns between natives and aliens over *** were mainly represented by annuals(especially ruderals and weeds),which were established at the beginning of *** aliens also predominated at mid-successional stages,but in old grasslands native species were slightly more representative than alien ones within the *** the late successional states,positive or no correlations at all between alien and native species richness suggested the absence of competition between both species groups,as a result of differ-ent strategies in occupation of the *** dynamics over time constitute a net gain in biodiversity,increasing natives and maintaining a general alien pool,allowing the coexistence of *** interactions including facilitation and/or tolerance processes might be occurring in chilean post-agricultural grasslands,a fact that contradicts the accepted idea of the alien species as contenders.

seasonal variability of ambient NH_3, NO, NO_2 and sO_2 over Delhi

We present the diurnal and seasonal variability of ambient NH3, NO, NO2 and sO2 over Delhi, India. Ambient NH3, NO and NO2 were measured continuously during winter, summer and autumn seasons using NH3- and NOx-analyzer, which operates by chemiluminescence method with a higher estimation efficiency （〉 90%） than the chemical trap method （reproducibility 4.7%）. Prominent diurnal, day-to-day and seasonal variations of ambient mixing ratio of NH3, NO, NO2 and sO2 were observed during the study period. seasonal variation with higher mixing ratio in winter was observed for all measured trace gases except NO. Day-night variation of all measured trace gases observed was higher in winter in comparison with summer. Late morning increase in NO2 mixing ratio might be attributed to conversion of NO to NO2 with the interaction ofO3.
