Unravelling COVID-19 waves in Rio de Janeiro city:Qualitative insights from nonlinear dynamic analysis

since the COVID-19 pandemic was first reported in 2019,it has rapidly spread around the *** countries implemented several measures to try to control the virus *** healthcare system and consequently the general quality of life population in the cities have all been significantly impacted by the Coronavirus *** different waves of contagious were responsible for the increase in the number of cases that,unfortunately,many times lead to *** this paper,we aim to characterize the dynamics of the six waves of cases and deaths caused by COVID-19 in Rio de Janeiro city using techniques such as the Poincaréplot,approximate entropy,second-order difference plot,and central tendency *** results reveal that by examining the structure and patterns of the time series,using a set of non-linear techniques we can gain a better understanding of the role of multiple waves of COVID-19,also,we can identify underlying dynamics of disease spreading and extract meaningful information about the dynamical behavior of epidemiological time *** findings can help to closely approximate the dynamics of virus spread and obtain a correlation between the different stages of the disease,allowing us to identify and categorize the stages due to different virus variants that are reflected in the time series.

《仁学》在西方学者眼中是中国历史上最早以中国古典文献对现代西方哲学和科学框架重新诠释的作品,在中国学者笔下这是近代中国新儒学哲学体系融入现代性全球主义的一次大胆尝试,以求能与当时的国际社会在同一维度上对话。然而《仁学》中谭嗣同以其进化最终带来自由的乐观本体论为导向,援引佛教和道教中对有限性的传统解决方案,提出了超越时间的绝对平等观,这一观念遭到了章太炎的批驳。在章太炎看来,进化最终没有超越混沌,相反,它起源于时间世界,且必须有法律之限制,即基于法之平等与等级,官员和国家试图在此基础上将突发事件和混沌合理化。通过对二人不同哲学观的梳理与对比,清晰反映了那一时期的士人对近代中国传统儒家哲学观念转向的尝试与辩论,这对于归纳传统中国儒家的哲学理念具有一定的参考价值与意义。

The Effect of Water and salt stress on Paspalum dilatatum,a Constituent of Pampas Natural Grasslands

The effects of the salt stress on plant growth are usually increased by the water *** studied the impact of both stresses in simultaneous pulses of drought and salinity on Paspalum *** forage species is native to south America,spread in grasslands in many tropical,subtropical,and temperate areas of the world,and very common in grasslands of the Flooding Pampas of *** what happens in *** compared a pot experiment,a non-stressed control against water stress for a month(midpoint between field capacity and wilting point),and two saline stresses(moderate,6 d·sm^(−1)and strong,12 d·sm^(−1)),also for a *** biomass(green leaf;non-leaf green material,and dry material)and roots were harvested,weighed,and analyzed for nitrogen,phosphorus,and *** biomass of all components significantly decreased when both stresses were *** plus strong saline stress reduced by half the total biomasses,compared to the *** proportion of aerial biomass/root biomass ratio as well as aerial green component/dry materials ratio tend to decrease when subjected to both *** concentration in plants was not significantly affected,but phosphorus concentration increased in aerial biomass components,from 0.10 to 0.18 mg·kg^(−1)between the extreme treatments,but did not change in *** concentration in plants increased(i.e.,in green leave sodium(Na)increased from 0.27 to 2.01 mg·kg^(−1)between the extreme treatments),whereas other cations either did not change or decreased,affecting the ratios between *** performance allows us to infer that the Na accumulation of *** behaves in an intermediate range,compared to very tolerant to salts or non-salt tolerant species of the Paspalum *** agreement,when salts were applied in the form of a pulse,*** tolerated higher salinity than that found by other authors for the same species,using continuous salinity.

Temporal variations of mesozooplankton abundance and biomass in the mangrove creek area along the Karachi coast, Pakistan

The temporal variations of mesozooplankton abundance and biomass （1-Volumetric method by settling volume and displacement volume and 2- Gravimetric method through wet weight, dry weight and ash-free dry weight） with relation to environmental parameters were studied in the mangrove creek area of Karachi coast, Pakistan. The data of mesozooplankton samples along with environmental parameters （temperature, salinity, pH, etc.） were collected during January 1998 to December 1998 from two creek stations. The abun-dance of mesozooplankton also exhibited seasonal trends at both stations. At sta. s2, the highest and low-est abundance values were observed during post-monsoon and southwest monsoon respectively whereas, at sta. s1, a clear trend of high abundance in pre-monsoon to low abundance in southwest monsoon was observed. Mesozooplankton abundance was also positively correlated with settling volume, displacement volume, wet weight and dry weight. The highest biomass value was observed in the northeast monsoon and pre-monsoon periods. The results of the canonical analysis of the output from the discriminate function was tested. Out of fifteen variables, only one was significantly different in single character ratios dry weight/ash free-dry weight （F3,23=4.78,P＆lt;0.005）. The mesozooplankton community was collectively composed of 28 taxa. Among these groups, copepoda （66.3%）, gastropod larvae （9.94%）, evadne （4.60%）, zoea （3.60%）, cypris nauplii （2.56%）, lemellibranch larvae （1.87%）, chaetognaths （1.81%）, ostracods （1.73%）, lucifer （1.15%） and barnacles nauplii （1.35%） contributed the most to the similarities within sta. s1, while copepoda （74.68%）, cypris nauplii （5.29%）, gastropods （4.87%）, barnacles nauplii （4.81%）, evadne （1.72%）, zoea （1.53%） and ca-ridean larvae （1.18%） at sta. s2. The development,production and utilization of renewable energy,energy storage and green hydrogen and the associated technologies in sri Lanka have great potential to contribute to the United Nations’sustainable Development Goals(sDGs).The island aims to achieve 70%electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 2030(within the target of 40%utilization of renewable energy sources for the entire energy generation of the country by 2030).The power sector has to invest us$11 billion from 2023 to 2030 to contribute to reaching this *** commentary aims to provide a critical perspective on the recommendations of the report from the National science and Technology Commission’s 9th biennial conference in 2023 on science and technology,the sub-thematic technical report on clean energy,energy storage and green hydrogen in line with the sDGs in the sri Lankan *** technical report provides insightful recommendations for sri Lanka’s energy sector under three main sections:renewable energy,energy storage and green ***,it explores the potential of various renewable energy sources,energy storage systems and green hydrogen as sustainable solutions to address the country’s energy challenges while emphasizing the spillover effects of them,which could contribute to the enterprise’s job creation and uplift the economy.

Activity and stability of Rare Earth-Based Hydride Alloys as Catalysts of Hydrogen Absorption-Oxidation Reactions

Rare earth-based AB(5)-type hydrogen storage alloys as catalysts of hydrogen-diffusion electrodes for hydrogen absorption and oxidation reactions in alkaline fuel cells were investigated. It is demonstrated that the metahydride hydrogen-diffusion electrodes could be charged by hydrogen gas and electrochemically discharged, at the same time to retain a stable oxidation potential for a long period. The catalytic activities and stability are almost comparable with a Pt catalyst on the active carbon. Further improvement of performances is expected via reduction of catalyst size into nanometers.

Global health (GH) aims to improve healthcare for all people on the planet and eradicate all avoidable diseases and deaths. The inception of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is innovating healthcare practices and improving patient outcomes by shuffling enormous volumes of health data—from health records and clinical studies to genetic information analyzing it much faster than humans. AI also helps in the improvement of medical imaging and medical diagnosis. There is an increased optimism regarding the use of applications of AI locally but can these facets be translated globally in the advancement and delivery of healthcare with the help of AI. At present majority of AI developments and applications in health care provide to the needs of developed countries and there is little effort to develop programs which could help to improve healthcare delivery globally. We performed this narrative review to assess the difficulties and discrepancies in implementing AI in global health delivery and find ways to improve.

A modified isooctane-based DNA extraction method from crude oil

Microbes from oil reservoirs shape petroleum composition through processes such as biodegradation or *** processes are considered economically detrimental and might pose health and safety *** is therefore crucial to understand the composition of a reservoir's microbial community and its metabolic ***,such analyses are hindered by difficulties in extracting DNA from such complex fluids as crude ***,we present a novel DNA extraction method from oils with a wide American Petroleum Institute(API)gravity(density)*** investigated the ability to extract cells from oils with different solvents and surfactants,the latter both nonionic and ***,we evaluated three DNA extraction ***,the best DNA yields and the highest number of 16s rRNA reads were achieved with isooctane as a solvent,followed by an ionic surfactant treatment using sodium dodecyl sulfate and DNA extraction using the Powersoil Pro Kit(Qiagen).The final method was then applied to various oils from oil reservoirs collected in aseptic *** the expected low cell density of 10^(1)–10^(3)cells/ml,the new method yielded reliable results,with average 16s rRNA sequencing reads in the order of 41431(±8860)per ***,halophilic,and anaerobic taxa,which are most likely to be indigenous to the oil reservoir,were found in all *** gravity and DNA yield,despite the sufficient DNA obtained,did not show a correlation.

The global regulation of c-di-GMP and cAMP in bacteria

Nucleotide second messengers are highly versatile signaling molecules that regulate a variety of key biological processes in *** best-studied examples are cyclic AMP(cAMP)and bis-(3'-5')-cyclic dimeric guanosine monophosphate(c-di-GMP),which both act as global *** regulatory frameworks of c-di-GMP and cAMP in bacteria show several parallels but also significant *** this review,we llustrate the global regulatory models of the two nucleotide second messengers,compare the different regulatory frameworks between c-di-GMP and cAMP,and discuss the mechanisms and physiological significance of cross-regulation between c-di-GMP and cAMP.c-di-GMP responds to numerous signals de-pendent on a great number of metabolic enzymes,and it regulates various signal transduction pathways through its huge number of effectors with varying *** contrast,due to the limited quantity,the cAMP metabolic enzymes and its major effector are regulated at different levels by diverse *** performs its global regulatory function primarily by controlling the transcription of a large number of genes via cAMP receptor protein(CRP)in most *** review can help us understand how bacteria use the two typical nucleotide second messengers to effectively coordinate and integrate various physiological processes,providing theoretical guidelines for future research.
