Fertilizers are essential to modern agriculture;their overuse can have harmful effects on plants, crops and soil quality. Thus, the study seeks to investigate, if (actually) the trio of Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NpK) contribute to the growth and yield of yellow maize, and to determine at what proportion each of the elements is to be applied for optimum yield. Our findings revealed that Nitrogen and phosphoric fertilizer contributed significantly to the yield of yellow maize while there was no significant effect of potassium Further analysis on the mean separation of Nitrogen and phosphorus using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test—(DMRT) showed Nitrogen at 50 kg/ha as significantly higher than the other levels. For phosphorus, its effect at 20 kg/ha was significantly higher than the other levels. Thus, the derived quadratic model: .

Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases in women and adjuvant combination chemotherapy has been shown to reduce mortality from this disease. Adherence to medical treatment is a multifaceted issue that can substantially alter the outcomes of therapy. patient non-adherence to chemotherapy is the ultimate barrier to the treatment effectiveness. Objective: This study was carried out to determine the relationship between cancer chemotherapy adherence and breast cancer staging, patient’s perception of cancer care and patient’s socio-demographic characteristics. Material and method: This was a cross sectional study selection of respondents and was based on simple random sampling technique, 184 patients were interviewed and data was collected using a semi-structured questionnaire to obtain socio-demographic data, adherence data, and facility-related information. Results: There was a significant association between marital status and non-adherence (p?= 0.013). Both separated and single subjects had higher proportion of non-adherence compared with married subjects. Analysis of perception of chemotherapy care revealed a significant association between the satisfaction score and non-adherence, with non-adherent patients showing higher scores or being less satisfied. The quality of service (p?= 0.0052);rating of needs been met (p?= 0.0079);rating on whether the services helped the subject (p?= 0.0405);rating on the general satisfaction of the services provided (p?= 0.0115);and rating on whether subject would seek help again (p?= 0.0320) all had a significant association with non-adherence. Conclusion: The awareness of oncologist and patient of the problem of non-adherence and communication regarding the importance of adherence to therapy may improve health outcomes.

Africa is a developing economy and as such, emphasis has been placed on the achievement of revolutionary goals that will place her on a similar rank as the developed economies. pertaining to this objective, Heads of States and government all over Africa instigated the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063, which is a framework put in place to achieve a continental transformation over the next 40 years. The use of satellites has been proven to be a major influence on economic growth since it facilitates the exchange of information. Environmental hazards such as climate changes, pollution, and inefficient waste management can be classified as one of the drawbacks to achieving this economic growth we hope to accomplish. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and examine satellite communication as a tool for the attainment of an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa by means of combatting environmental hazards in the continent.

Background: prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer among Nigerian men. prostate specific antigen (pSA) is produced by the prostate gland and it is an important tumor marker in the screening and diagnosis of prostate cancer because the latter is often associated with elevated pSA levels. The aim of this study was to evaluate the profile and pSA levels of men presenting for prostate cancer screening at the National Obstetric Fistula Centre, Abakaliki, Nigeria. Methods: This was a retrospective study of 103 patients who were seen between January 2014 and December 2015 and screened for prostate cancer using pSA assay. Data was extracted from folders of patients using a proforma and analysed using the Statistical package for Social Sciences (SpSS), version 21. Result: Out of the 103 clients studied, 67 (65%) were between the ages of 40 and 59 years. The mean age was 54.38 ± 12.5 years. Eighty-one (78.6%) of the study population had pSA levels 4 ng/ml and below, 5 (4.9%) had pSA levels of 4.1 - 10 ng/ml, while 17 (16.5%) had pSA levels > 10 ng/ml. The mean pSA was 4.75 ± 8.2 ng/ml. None of the patients with family history of cancer had pSA levels of >4 ng/ml. Those who were positive for HiV also had normal pSA results. Conclusion: The findings from this study showed that the prevalence of men with raised pSA (>4 ng/ml) was high (21.4%) especially in the 60 - 69 years age group. There is need to increase prostate cancer screening using pSA in our setting. The use of other parameters such as digital rectal examination, pSA density, pSA velocity and free pSA will be helpful to determine the need for histological diagnosis in these patients.

The mathematical model of bioconvection flow of micropolar fluid through a vertical surface containing nanoparticles and gyrotactic microorganisms is presented in this study. in the study, weak and strong concentrations of microstructures are explored. in the energy and concentration equations, the Catteneo-Christov diffusion models are used to explain temperature and concentration diffusions with thermal and solutal relaxation durations, respectively. The governing equations describing the fluid flow are transformed and parameterized through similarity variables. The approximate analytical solution is obtained by using Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM). The impacts of relevant parameters on the various distributions are investigated and illustrated. it is discovered that increasing the value of the micropolar parameter results in an increase in the microrotation distribution for strong concentrations of microstructures while decreasing the microrotation distribution for weak concentrations of microstructures.

The shelf life of chicken meat has been rapidly reduced as a result of high environmental temperatures prevalent in the tropics which favored the activities of spoilage micro-organisms,and reactive oxygen species that function in oxidative *** laevis(***)possess valuable antioxidant and antibacterial ***,information on the effect of aqueous extracts of dry and wet leaves of *** on preservation of fresh chicken meat under tropical condition is scanty and thus,*** chicken meat(10kg weight)was obtained immediately after slaughter and were randomly allotted to three treatments(T1-control;T2-aqueous extract of wet leaves of ***;and T3-aqueous extract of dry leaves of ***)in a Randomized Complete Block *** plant,such as Newbouldia laevis with relatively high resistance to heat stress,possesses viable bioactive compounds that can lower the growth of spoilage micro-organisms and activities of reactive oxygen species on fresh chicken meat under tropical conditions for 48 ***,poultry farmers in developing nations with fluctuating power supply can adopt the quick meat shelf life enhancement technique,while commercial poultry farmers across the globe can embark on product fortification using extracts of Newbouldia laevis.

As the lumen of the prostatic urethra becomes compromised by fibroadenomatous growth in the periurethral region of the prostate of men with Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BpH), urine outflow is obstructed progressively resulting in incomplete bladder empting causing stasis and may predispose patients to infection. Mid stream urine samples were collected from 94 BpH patients. Macroscopy, microscopy, culture and antibiotic susceptibility test were carried out on isolated uropathogens. isolated bacteria were characterized using biochemical tests. isolated bacterial pathogens include proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella oxytoca, Morgarella morgani, K. pneumonia and Enterococcus faecalis in order of frequency. The isolates show highest resistance of 87.1% to Ciprofloxacin and least resistance of 12.9% to imipenem. The isolates were found to be multi-drug resistant and the 12.9% resistance to imipenem suggests presence of Carbapenemase producing bacteria among the isolates.
