AIM:A decoction of Elephantopus scaber(Asteraceae) root is used to treat liver disorders in Indian and Chinese traditional *** study was designed to examine the dose response effects of *** methanolic extract on rats exposed to N-nitrosodiethylamine(NDEA) induced hepatotoxicity(0.02% NDEA in water five days per week,per oral) in preventive and curative ***:In preventive groups,NDEA was administered for six *** doses of *** methanolic extract(200 and 100 mg kg 1) started one week before the onset of NDEA intoxication and continued for six *** curative animals,NDEA was administered for six weeks followed by treatment with the methanolic n-hexane extract of ***(200 and 100 mg kg 1) for ten ***:*** extract treatment significantly(P ≤ 0.05) reduced the levels of AST,ALT,and MDA in both experimental *** extract also enhanced the antioxidant enzyme and protein levels in rats intoxicated with *** with the extract dose dependently protected the liver from NDEA-induced hepatotoxicity with normal hepatocytes and uniform sinusoids,but in some areas showed degenerating hepatic cells in both treatment ***:*** methanolic extract dose dependently prevented and reversed the hepatotoxicity induced by NDEA in both experimental models.

Threshold logic based low-level vision sparse object features

Purpose-The real-time generation of feature descriptors for object recognition is a challenging *** this research,the purpose of this paper is to provide a hardware friendly framework to generate sparse features that can be useful for key feature point selection,feature extraction,and descriptor *** inspiration is drawn from feature formation processes of the human brain,taking into account the sparse,modular,and hierarchical processing of visual ***/methodology/approach-A sparse set of neurons referred as active neurons determines the feature points necessary for high-level vision applications such as object recognition.A psycho-physical mechanism of human low-level vision relates edge detection to noticeable local spatial stimuli,representing this set of active neurons.A cognitive memory cell array-based implementation of low-level vision is *** of memory cell in edge detection are used for realizing human vision inspired feature selection and leading to feature vector construction for high-level vision ***-True parallel architecture and faster response of cognitive circuits avoid time costly and redundant feature extraction *** of proposed feature vector toward high-level computer vision applications is demonstrated using standard object recognition *** comparison against existing state-of-the-art object recognition features and methods shows an accuracy of 97,95,69 percent for Columbia Object Image Library-100,ALOI,and PASCAL VOC 2007 databases indicating an increase from benchmark methods by 5,3 and 10 percent,***/value-A hardware friendly low-level sparse edge feature processing system isproposed for recognizing *** edge features are developed based on threshold logic of neurons,and the sparse selection of the features applies a modular and hierarchical processing inspired from the human neural system.

Synthesis,spectroscopic characterization,DNA cleavage and antibacterial studies of a novel tridentate Schiff base and some lanthanide(III) complexes

A novel potential tridentate Schiff base was prepared by condensing equimolar quantities of 2-hydroxyacetophenone and 2-aminopyrimidine in methanol. This ligand was versatile in forming a series of complexes with lanthanide ions such as La（III）, Pr（III）, Nd（III）, Sm（III）, Gd（III）, Dy（III） and Yb（III）. The ligand and the metal complexes were characterized through elemental analysis, molar conductance, UV-Visible, IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectral studies. The spectral studies indicated that the ligand was coordinated to the metal ion in neutral tridentate fashion through the azomethine nitrogen, one of the nitrogen atoms in the pyrimidine ring and the phenolic oxygen without deprotonation. Thermal decomposition and luminescence property of lanthanum（III） complex were also examined. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed the crystalline nature of the ligand and its lanthanum（III） complex. The DNA cleavage studies of the ligand and the metal complexes were carried out and it was observed that the lanthanum（III） and neo-dymium（III） complexes cleaved the pUC19 DNA effectively. The ligand and the metal complexes were screened for their antibacte-rial activities. The metal complexes were found to be more potent bactericides than the ligand.

Protective effect of Amorphophallus campanulatus(Roxb.) *** against thioacetamide induced oxidative stress in rats

Objective:To identify the phytochemical constituents of Amorphopkallus campanulatus(A. campanulatus) tuber and to evaluate its antioxidant potential through in vitro and in vivo models. Methods:Phytochemical screening and in vitro antioxidant activities of *** tuber n-hexane extract(ACHE) and methanolic extract(ACME) were evaluated using DPPH,hydroxyl radical,reducing power and total antioxidant capacity *** total phenolic and flavonoid contents were also *** protective potential of two different doses of ACME(125 and 250 mg/kg) was also evaluated against thioaeetamide(TAA) induced oxidative stress in rats. Silymarin used as a standard drug *** was assessed by quantifying the serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(AIT),alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH).The antioxidant potential of ACME were also evaluated by the estimation of catalase(CAT),glutathione peroxidase(GPx),glutathione reductase (OR),glutathione-S-transferase(GST),reduced glutathione(GSH) and lipid peroxidation (Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) in hepatic and renal *** changes of liver were also ***:In vitro studies revealed that ACME has higher antioxidant and radical scavenging activity than ACHE,which may be attributed to its higher phenolic and flavonoid *** significandy prevented the elevation of serum AST,***,LDH,and tissue malondialdehyde levels(P < 0.05).Hepatic and renal ***,GPx,and catalase levels were remarkably increased by the treatment with the *** of histopathological changes also supported the dose dependent protective effects of ***:The results do suggest that *** tuber could be considered as a potential source of natural antioxidant.
