In present work the weldings of an austenitic stainless steel （AISI 304L） and a ferritic carbon steel （St37） were conducted by tungsten inert gas （TIG） welding process using four different austenitic filler metals, namely ER308L, ER309L, ER316L and ER310. Microstructure characteristics and mechanical properties of the weldments were studied using optical and scanning electron microscopy, ferrit-ometry, hardness, tensile and impact tests. The ferrite number （_N-~） of the weldments made by different electrodes varies between 0.5 and 9.5. It was found that the increase in amount of delta ferrite in the microstructure of the weld metals, causes the decrease of the impact toughness of the weldments. It seems that using ER309L and ER316L electrodes can provide a good combination between the mechanical and metallurgical properties of the joint in AISI 304L/St37 dissimilar welding.

Magnesium and its alloys are ideal candidates for bioabsorbable ***,they can dissolve too rapidly in the human body for most *** this research,high purified magnesium(HP-Mg)was coated with stearic acid(SA)to slow the corrosion rate of magnesium in simulated body fluid at 37±1°***-Mg was anodized(AC and DC voltages)to form an oxide/hydroxide layer,and then it was immersed in a SA *** SA coated layer surface,anodized layer,and the thickness of the oxide/hydroxide layer were investigated with Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM).Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and potentiodynamic polarization(PDP)were used to estimate the corrosion rate of HP-Mg *** results confirm that the hydrophobic coating can decrease the corrosion rate of HP-Mg by more than *** protectiveness of coated layer for anodized specimens with AC voltage continue for 2 and 3 *** the HP-Mg coated anodized with DC voltage,the coated layer could improve the corrosion resistance for only a few days.

Neurodegenerative diseases(NDs)are a growing health problem associated with a high burden due to destructive and longterm clinical *** aggregations of misfolded proteins are the most common pathological hallmark of many late-onset NDs called proteinopathies including Parkinson’s disease(PD),Alzheimer’s disease(AD),tauopathies,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS),and polyglutamine(polyQ)expansion diseases such as Huntington’s disease(HD)and various spinocerebellar ataxias(SCA)such as SCA3(Renna et al.,2010).Misfolded proteins can be generated by posttranslational conjugation(e.g.,hyperphosphorylated tau in AD),or endoproteolytic cleavage(e.g.,amyloidβpeptides)or genetic mutations in specific proteins(such as HTT in HD,α-synuclein in PD,PrPC in prion disease and SOD1 and TDP-43 in ALS)leading to the formation of oligomers.

AIM： To study the epidemiology of HCC in Lebanon and prognostic factors predictive of early mortality. METHODS： An observational follow-up cohort study of HCC cases diagnosed over a five-year period was carried out. Multivariate analysis was conducted to identify prognostic factors in comparison to Cancer of the Liver italian Program （CUP） score. Multiple variables including the etiology of underlying liver disease, the demographic characteristics of patients, and the severity of liver disease evaluated by the Child-Pugh score were studied. Tumor parameters included the time of diagnosis of HCC, alpha-fetoprotein level, number and size of nodules, presence of portal vein thrombosis, and treatment modalities. Death or loss of follow-up was considered as an end-point event. RESULTS： Ninety-two patients （mean 60.5 ± 22.3 years） were included. Etiology of underlying disease was hepatitis B, C, and alcohol in 67%, 20%, and 23.5% respectively. Child-Pugh class at diagnosis was A, B, and C in 34.8%, 39.3% and 25.8% respectively. Overall survival was 44.8%, 32.8% and 17.6% at 1, 2 and 3 years respectively （mean F/U 40.2 ± 23.5 mo）. Multivariate analysis identified three predictors of early mortality （〈 6 mo）： bilirubin 〉 3.2 mg/dL （P 〈 0.01）, HCC as first presentation of liver disease （P = 0.035）, and creatinine 〉 1 mg/dL （P = 0.017）. A score based on these variables outperformed the CLIP score by Cox proportional hazard. ROC curve showed both models to be equivalent and moderately accurate.CONCLUSION： HBV is the leading cause of HCC in Lebanon. Independent predictors of early mortality are elevated bilirubin, creatinine and HCC as first manifestation of disease. Prospective validation of a score based on these clinical parameters in predicting short-term survival is needed.

Background: Improving the quality of care in psychiatric settings is the most important goal of policy through the delivery of a comprehensive care, treatment, control, protection, and rehabilitation of patients with mental disorders. The main concern in mental health care is the continuing use of seclusion and the slow pace of change. Purpose: Analyze the seclusion room policy in National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) in Jordan to recognize the issue and present alternative solutions in order to modify and improve the current seclusion room policy. Method: The authors got seclusion room policy from NCMH;the method in this analysis will be used six-step model;and then searched the database for alternatives using EBSCO, PUBMED, MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Ovid. Result: The authors discuss use medications, training program, manipulate environment, de-escalation technique, and status quo alternatives that helps in minimizing use of seclusion, decreasing the incidence of aggressive behaviors occurrences, and decreasing unsafe behaviors against health care providers in the psychiatric settings. Conclusion: Manipulates environment is the best alternative after evaluated alternatives according to criteria.

Pancreatitis in children is less common than in adults and is mostly related t o trauma, infection and anatomical anomalies. Gallstone pancreatitis is an even rarer entity in infants and children. We present an unusual case of gallstone pa ncreatitis in a 17-month-old girl who presented with jaundice of 1 month durat ion. The laboratory studies showed conjugated hyperbilirubinaemia with associate d acute pancreatitis and pseudo-hyponatraemia secondary to the markedly elevate d lipid profile. Further evaluations revealed obstruction at the Ampulla of Vate r with no evidence of a choledochal cyst and no mass lesion seen in the pancreas . The patient initially underwent urgent decompressive cholecystostomy with intr aoperative cholecystography. When the biochemical parameters improved, the patie nt underwent formal cholecystectomy with common bile duct exploration, extractio n of multiple impacted stones in the ampullary region and Fogarty balloon sphinc terotomy. The post-operative course was uneventful. Conclusion:Acute gallstone pancreatitis in children may present as jaundice or abdominal pain. Recognition, early diagnosis and surgical intervention are the mainstay for a good outcome.
