Effect of Nitrogen Doping on the Electrical Properties of 3C-SiC Thin Films for High-Temperature Sensors Applications

3C-SiC is a promising structural material for piezoresistive sensors used in high-temperature applications. For sensor development, the preparation of sensor materials and study of its electrical properties, such as resistivity, barrier height of grain boundaries, and temperature coefficient of resistivity, are important in addition to structural properties and these have to be optimized. In the present work, 3C-SiC thin film with in situ doping of nitrogen is prepared through low- pressure chemical vapor deposition by using methyl trichloro silane, ammonia, and hydrogen as precursors. Electrical properties of deposited 3C-SiC thin films with varying nitrogen doping concentration through four probe technique are studied. Atomic force microscopy investigations are carried out to study the grain size on and average root-mean-squared roughness 3C-SiC thin films. A decrease in the degree of crystallinity is observed in nitrogen-doped 3C-SiC thin films. The sheet resistivity of nitrogen-doped 3C-SiC thin film is found to decrease with increase in temperature in the range from 303 to 823 K. The sheet resistivity, average temperature coefficient of resistance, and barrier height of the grain boundaries of film doped with 17 at.% of nitrogen are 0.14 cm, -1.0 x 10-n/K, and 0.01 eV, respectively. Comparing all the nitrogen-doped 3C-SiC thin films, the film doped with 17 at.% of nitrogen exhibits an improved structural and electrical properties and it can be used as sensing material for high-temperature applications.

This article discusses an economic order quantity model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items in which the demand is assumed to be a linear function of time over an infinite planning *** addition,the salvage value associated with the deteriorated units is also *** shortages are allowed and partially backlogged.A mathematical model is framed to obtain the replenishment policy which aids the retailer to minimize the total inventory *** objective of this work is to minimize the total inventory cost and to find the optimal length of replenishment and the optimal order *** theory developed in this article is illustrated using numerical examples.A computational algorithm is designed to find the optimal *** analysis is carried out to study the changes in the effect on the optimal solutions and some managerial insights are obtained.

Advanced therapeutic endoscopist and inflammatory bowel disease: Dawn of a new role

Endoscopy plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Colonoscopy has been traditionally used in the diagnosis of IBD and helps in determination of an important end point in patient management, “mucosal healing”. However, the involvement of an advanced endoscopist has expanded with innovations in therapeutic and newer imaging techniques. Endoscopists are increasingly being involved in the management of anastomotic and small bowel strictures in these patients. The advent of balloon enteroscopy has helped us access areas not deemed possible in the past for dilations. An advanced endoscopist also plays an integral part in managing ileal pouch-anal anastomosis complications including management of pouch strictures and sinuses. The use of rectal endoscopic ultrasound has been expanded for imaging of perianal fistulae in patients with Crohn’s disease and appears much more sensitive than magnetic resonance imaging and exam under anesthesia. Advanced endoscopists also play an integral part in detection of dysplasia by employing advanced imaging techniques. In fact the paradigm for neoplasia surveillance in IBD is rapidly evolving with advancements in endoscopic imaging technology with pancolonic chromoendoscopy becoming the main imaging modality for neoplasia surveillance in IBD patients in most institutions. Advanced endoscopists are also called upon to diagnose primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and also offer options for endoscopic management of strictures through endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). In addition, PSC patients are at increased risk of developing cholangiocarcinoma with a 20% lifetime risk. Brush cytology obtained during ERCP and use of fluorescence in situ hybridization which assesses the presence of chromosomal aneuploidy (abnormality in chromosome number) are established initial diagnostic techniques in the investigation of patients with biliary strictures

Hepatobiliary manifestations of ulcerative colitis:an example of gut–liver crosstalk

The interaction between inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)and hepatobiliary manifestations represents a classic example of liver–gut *** importance of liver–gut crosstalk in IBD is demonstrated in the pathogenesis and outcome of primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC)in IBD *** G4-associated cholangitis(IAC),which has recently been described in UC patients,may also illustrate the significance of gut–liver interaction in these *** of these hepatobiliary manifestations influences the outcome of associated IBD,in particular ulcerative colitis(UC),and vice *** pathogenesis of PSC is postulated to be related to gut inflammation in IBD that results in inflammation in the portal tracts(the‘leaky gut’).Enterohepatic circulation of lymphocytes from the gut to the liver is also of potential relevance to PSC pathogenesis and *** presence of PSC and gut inflammation in IBD influences the course and outcomes of both *** research is required,to understand the mutual effect of liver–gut crosstalk in the outcomes of UC patients,and highlights the importance of an interdisciplinary approach—involving gastroenterologists,hepatologists,advanced endoscopists and liver transplant surgeons—in the management of these patients.

Identification and Characterization of OsWRKY72 Variant inIndica Genotypes

Plant WRKY transcription factors （TFs） constitute one of the largest families of proteinsinvolved in biotic and abiotic stress responses. These TFs have a conserved 60 amino acid WRKYdomain at the N-terminal and a zinc finger motif at the C-terminal. To examine the relevance ofOsWRKY72 in imparting salinity stress tolerance, two indica rice genotypes, Rasi （tolerant genotype）and Tellahamsa （susceptible genotype）, were used. In Rasi seedlings at 12 h under 100 mmol/L NaClstress, OsWRKY72 expression was up-regulated, whereas in Tellahamsa, it was highly up-regulated atlethal stress. Full-length OsWRKY72 cDNA was cloned from these two rice genotypes for furtheranalysis. We identified a variant, termed as OsWRKY72b that carries an additional sequence of 111 bpwithin the WRKY domain. Expression of OsWRKY72b was higher under salinity stress in Rasi than inTellahamsa. Disorder prediction of OsWRKY72b showed that the additional sequence in the WRKYdomain is ordered thereby maintaining the tertiary structure that might interact with the major groove ofDNA. Prediction of phosphorylation sites in OsWRKY72b indicated that a few serine residues could bethe potential phosphorylation sites. In this study, we firstly reported a OsWRKY72 variant that couldhave a role in abiotic stress responses.

Responses of Lowland, Upland and Aerobic Rice Genotypes to Water Limitation During Different Phases

Rice yield reduction due to water limitation depends on its severity and duration and on the phenological stage of its *** exposed three contrasting rice genotypes,IR64,UPLRi7 and Apo(adapted to lowland,upland and aerobic conditions,respectively),to three water regimes(puddle,100%and 60%field capacity)in pots during the vegetative(GSI),flowering(GSII)and grain filling(GSIII)*** at all the three stages significantly reduced yield especially in lowland genotype *** of water limitation was more severe at GSII than at the other two *** at GSI stage reduced both source activity(leaf area and photosynthetic rate)and sink capacity(tiller number or panicle number per pot).When stress was imposed at GSII,spikelet fertility was most affected in all the three *** both GSII and GSIII,although leaf area was constant in all the three water regimes,estimated relative whole-plant photosynthesis was strongly associated with yield *** photosynthesis due to stress at any given stage was found to have direct impact on *** to the other genotypes,Apo had deeper roots and maintained a better water relation,thus,higher carbon gain and spikelet viability,and ultimately,higher biomass and productivity under water-limited ***,screening for these stage-dependent adaptive mechanisms is crucial in breeding for sustained rice production under water limitation.

Non-surgical porto-mesenteric vein thrombosis is associated with worse long-term outcomes in inflammatory bowel diseases

Objective:Our aim was to assess the risk factors for non-surgery-related portal and mesenteric vein thrombosis(PMVT)and its impact on the outcomes of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD).Methods:All patients with a concurrent diagnosis of IBD and PMVT between January 2004 and October 2013 were identified from the electronic medical record(study group;n=20).Patients were matched for age,sex,and IBD phenotype with control IBD patients who had no PMVT,with a ratio of 1:3(control group;n=60).Risk factors for PMVT and IBD-related outcomes at one year after diagnosis of PMVT were compared between the two ***:Of the 20 patients in the Study group,6(30%)had UC,14(70%)had CD and 11(55%)were *** multivariable analysis,inpatient status(odds ratio[OR]6.88;95%confidence interval[CI]1.88-25.12)and baseline corticosteroid use(OR 4.39;95%CI 1.27-15.19)were found to be independent risk factors for the development of *** one-year follow-up,PMVT patients were more likely to have an adverse outcome of IBD,including subsequent emergency room visit(26.3%vs.1.7%;P=0.003),hospitalization for medical management(60.0%vs.20.0%;P=0.001)or IBD-related surgery(65.0%vs.26.7%;P=0.003)than the non-PMVT *** multivariable analysis,PMVT(OR 5.19;95%CI 1.07-25.28)and inpatient status(OR 8.92;95%CI 1.33-59.84)were found to be independent risk factors for poor outcome,whereas baseline immunomodulator use(OR 0.07;95%CI 0.01-0.51)was found to be a protective ***:IBD patients who were inpatients or receiving corticosteroid therapy had an increased risk of the development of *** presence of PMVT was associated with poor clinical outcomes in IBD.

Synthesis and antimycobacterial screening of new N-(4-(5-aryl-3-(5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)phenyl)-4-amide derivatives

This article demonstrates the synthesis, characterization and the study of in vitro antitubercular activities of twenty four new N-（4-（5-aryl-3-（5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl）-1H-pyrazol-1-yl）phenyl）-4-amide derivatives（8a–x）. The antitubercular activity of the compounds against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv（MTB） revealed that 2-chloro-N-（4-（5-（4-chlorophenyl）-3-（5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl）-1H-pyrazol-1-yl）phenyl）benzamide（8n） is the most promising lead molecule with a MIC of1.56 mg/m L, while the corresponding unsubstituted benzamide derivative（8o） is the next most active molecule with a MIC of 3.13 mg/m L. Interestingly, the pyrazole intermediate 5b containing chlorophenyl and N-acylcarbohydrazide substituents also showed significant activity（MIC = 3.13 mg/m L）. Further, the active molecules did not show toxicity against a normal NIH 3T3 cell line, signifying their suitability for further drug development.
