Thermal Conductivity and Dynamic Viscosity of Highly Mineralized Water

Further development in the field of geothermal energy require reliable reference data on the thermophysical properties of geothermal waters,namely,on the thermal conductivity and viscosity of aqueous salt solutions at temperatures of 293–473 K,pressures Ps=100 MPa,and concentrations of 0–25 wt.%.Given the lack of data and models,especially for the dynamic viscosity of aqueous salt solutions at a pressure of above 40 MPa,generalized formulas are presented here,by which these gaps can be filled.The article presents a generalized formula for obtaining reliable data on the thermal conductivity of water aqueous solutions of salts for Ps=100 MPa,temperatures of 293–473 K and concentrations of 0%–25%(wt.%),as well as generalized formulas for the dynamic viscosity of water up to pressures of 500 MPa and aqueous solutions of salts for Ps=100 MPa,temperatures 333–473 K,and concentration 0%–25%.The obtained values agree with the experimental data within 1.6%.

Understanding the relation between spatial heterogeneity and structural rejuvenation is one of the hottest topics in the field of metallic glasses(MGs).In this work,molecular dynamics(MD)simulation is implemented to discover the effects of initial spatial heterogeneity on the level of rejuvenation in the Ni_(80)P_(20)MGs.For this purpose,the samples are prepared with cooling rates of 10^(10) K/s-10^(12) K/s to make glassy alloys with different atomic configurations.Firstly,it is found that the increase in the cooling rate leads the Gaussian-type shear modulus distribution to widen,indicating the aggregations in both elastically soft and hard regions.After the primary evaluations,the elastostatic loading is also used to transform structural rejuvenation into the atomic configurations.The results indicate that the sample with intermediate structural heterogeneity prepared with 10^(11) K/s exhibits the maximum structural rejuvenation which is due to the fact that the atomic configuration in an intermediate structure contains more potential sites for generating the maximum atomic rearrangement and loosely packed regions under an external excitation.The features of atomic rearrangement and structural changes under the rejuvenation process are discussed in detail.

Role of Ag microalloying on glass forming ability and crystallization kinetics of ZrCoAgAlNi amorphous alloy

Bulk metallic glasses(BMGs) with new chemical compositions(ZrCoAgAlNi) were fabricated and the effects of Ag minor addition on the glass forming ability(GFA) and crystallization kinetics were studied. The x-ray diffraction(XRD) test was applied to identify the amorphousness of BMGs or possible crystalline phases. Using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), the thermal stability and crystallization kinetics under a non-isothermal condition at the different heating rates were studied. Considering the heating rate dependency of glass transition and crystallization kinetics, the activation energy was evaluated and measured for the mentioned processes. It was revealed that the rise in Ag content led to the decrease in activation energy for glass transition, while the activation energy for crystallization increased. The thermal stability and GFA were also studied and it was found that the Ag addition strongly affected the inherent features of BMGs. With the increase in Ag content, the atomic mobility and structural rearrangement changed in the material and consequently, the GFA and thermal stability were significantly improved.

2D/2D BiOIO_(3)/g-C_(3)N_(4) S-scheme hybrid heterojunction with face-to-face interfacial contact for effective photocatalytic H_(2) production and norfloxacin degradation

A two-dimensional(2D)/2D hybrid heterojunction with face-to-face interfacial assembly is a desirable dimensionality design with significant potential for various photocatalytic applications due to the large interfacial contact area,which facilitates charge migration and separation.Herein,we developed an ef-ficient 2D/2D hybrid heterojunction consisting of BiOIO 3 nanoplates(BIO)and g-C_(3)N_(4) nanosheets(CN)using a simple but effective in situ growth method for photocatalytic aqueous antibiotic degradation and H_(2) generation.The face-to-face interfacial assembly of the BIO and CN components in the BIO/CN hy-brid heterojunction was verified using electron microscopy.Remarkably,the BIO/CN hybrid heterojunc-tion outperformed both the BIO and CN counterparts in terms of norfloxacin degradation and H_(2) gen-eration under simulated solar light irradiation.Moreover,the photocatalytic performance of the hybrid catalyst remained nearly unchanged throughout five consecutive test runs.The exceptional performance and stability of the hybrid catalyst are attributable to its extended optical absorption range,large interfa-cial contact area provided by the face-to-face assembly in the 2D/2D hybrid configuration,and enhanced photoexcited charge separation efficiency and redox power of the separated charges,which are supported by an efficient S-scheme charge transfer mechanism.This study illuminates the rational construction of novel 2D/2D S-scheme hybrid heterojunction photocatalysts with practical applications in environmental remediation and sustainable energy generation.

Because the rotational current stabilizes the flame by creating a recirculation zone,it may increase the risk of reversal.For this reason,low-spin combustion is used to stabilize the flame while preventing flashbacks.Therefore,in this study,the combustion flow of methane gas in a low-swirl burner is simulated using a partially premixed combustion model.Furthermore,the fuel flow rate is considered constant.The research parameters include swirl angle(θ=35°–47°),equivalence ratio(φ=0.6–0.9)and inlet axial flow radius(R=0.6–0.7)and effect of these parameters on temperature distribution,flame length,flame rise length,velocity field,and streamlines of the number of pollutant species are investigated.The contours of streamline,temperature distribution,and velocity distribution are also presented for analysis of flow physics.The results show that with increasing the fuel-air ratio,the strength of the axial flow decreases,and the position of the maximum flame temperature shifts toward the inlet of the reactants.The results also reveal that by increasing the swirl angle of the flow,the position of the minimum velocity value(opposite to the direction of the axis)tends towards the outlet.The results also indicate that the maximum temperature of the combustion chamber increases with increasing the swirl angle,and inθ=35°,the maximum temperature is 1711℃and inθ=41°,this value is 1812℃.Finally,by increasing the swirl angle toθ=47°,the maximum flame temperature position is found at a considerable distance from the inlet and is 1842℃.

The development of a bifunctional photocatalyst that can be utilized for both energy conversion and envi-ronmental remediation is of great practical significance.In addition,an S-scheme charge transfer process can assist a photocatalyst in efficiently separating photoexcited electrons and holes while maintaining the strong reducibility and oxidizability of the former and the latter,respectively.We developed a bifunctional S-scheme hybrid photocatalyst comprising CdS nanorods and BiOIO_(3)(BIO) nanosheets for efficient antibi-otic degradation and cocatalyst-and sacrificial reagent-free CO_(2) reduction.The combination of visible-light-responsive one-dimensional(1D)CdS and UV-light-responsive 2D BIO resulted in a CdS/BIO hybrid photocatalyst with effective 1D/2D(line)interfacial contact and a broadened optical absorption range.Notably,the CdS/BIO hybrid exhibited exceptional diclofenac degradation and mineralization as well as outstanding CO_(2) reduction activity for CO production,with 95.4%CO selectivity over H_(2)production.The exceptional performance of the hybrid catalyst is primarily attributed to the accelerated photoexcited charge transfer caused by the 1D/2D line interfacial contact and the high charge separation and strong redox power of the separated charges,both of which stem from the effective S-scheme charge transfer process.In addition,photocorrosion of CdS was substantially mitigated,resulting in the high photocat-alytic performance of the hybrid catalyst even after repeated test runs.This study provides insight into the rational design of bifunctional S-scheme hybrid photocatalysts for CO_(2) reduction and pollutant degra-dation.

Modeling and numerical simulations for a prey-predator model with interference among predators

In this paper,we modeled a prey–predator system with interference among predators using the Crowley–Martin functional response.The local stability and existence of Hopf bifurcation at the coexistence equilibrium of the system in the absence of diffusion are analyzed.Further,the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions is investigated.We derived the conditions for which nontrivial equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable.In addition,we study the diffusion driven instability,Hopf bifurcation of the corresponding diffusion system with zero flux boundary conditions and the Turing instability region regarding parameters are established.The stability and direction of Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem.Numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the theoretical results.

Dry/wet snow mapping based on the synergistic use of dual polarimetric SAR and multispectral data

We propose a multi-sensor multi-spectral and bi-temporal dual-polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) data integration scheme for dry/wet snow mapping using Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 data which are freely available to the research community. The integration is carried out by incorporating the information retrieved from ratio images of the conventional method for wet snow mapping and the multispectral data in two different frameworks. Firstly, a simple differencing scheme is employed for dry/wet snow mapping, where the snow cover area is derived using the Normalized Differenced Snow Index(NDSI). In the second framework, the ratio images are stacked with the multispectral bands and this stack is used for supervised and unsupervised classification using support vector machines for dry/wet snow mapping. We also investigate the potential of a state of the art backscatter model for the identification of dry/wet snow using Sentinel-1 data. The results are validated using a reference map derived from RADARSAT-2 full polarimetric SAR data. A good agreement was observed between the results and the reference data with an overall accuracy greater than 0.78 for the different blending techniques examined. For all the proposed frameworks, the wet snow was better identified. The coefficient of determination between the snow wetness derived from the backscatter model and the reference based on RADARSAT-2 data was observed to be 0.58 with a significantly higher root mean square error of 1.03 % by volume.

Porous g-C_(3)N_(4)-encapsulated TiO_(2) hollow sphere as a high-performance Z-scheme hybrid for solar-induced photocatalytic abatement of environmentally toxic pharmaceuticals

Herein,we rationally constructed a hybrid heterostructure comprising porous g-C_(3)N_(4)(CN)-encapsulated anatase TiO_(2) hollow spheres(TOHS)via a synthesis method that involves hydrothermal and calcination treatments.The fabricated hybrid,termed CN/TOHS,demonstrated extraordinary activity toward the degradation of environmentally toxic pharmaceutical substances(acetaminophen and ciprofloxacin)in aqueous solutions under simulated sunlight irradiation;the activity of CN/TOHS was superior to that attained for individual TOHS and CN counterparts.In particular,the CN/TOHS hybrid containing 13.3 wt.%of CN on TOHS displayed the optimum degradation activity among the tested catalysts used in this study,and it also possessed exceptional recyclability and stability during consecutive degradation tests.The remarkable photocatalytic activity and stability of the hybrid were predominantly ascribed to the large solid interfacial contact between constituents,TOHS and CN,induced by effective hybrid structure,which boosted the interfacial charge transfer and impeded with the direct recombination of photo-induced charges.Notably,the results of the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis corroborated the effective mineralization of model pharmaceutical pollutants in the presence of the CN/TOHS hybrid.The simple interfacial engineering strategy presented in this study offers a potential route for the rational design of novel catalysts for application in environmental remediation and solar energy conversion.

We investigate the role of aging temperature on relaxation of internal friction in Zr_(59)Fe_(18)Al_(10)Ni_(10)Nb_(3)metallic glass.For this purpose,dynamic mechanical analysis with different annealing temperatures and frequency values is applied.The results indicate that the aging process leads to decrease in the dissipated energy in the temperature range of glass transition.It is also found that the increase in applied frequency weakens the loss factor intensity in the metallic glass.Moreover,the Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts(KWW)equation is used to evaluate the evolution of internal friction during the aging process.According to the results,higher annealing temperature will make the primary internal friction in the material increase;however,a sharp decline is observed with the time.The drop in characteristic time of internal friction is also closely correlated to the rate of atomic rearrangement under the dynamic excitation so that at higher annealing temperatures,the driving force for the collaborative movement of atoms is easily provided and the mean relaxation time significantly decreases.
