Diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI), a functional imaging technique exploiting the Brownian motion of water molecules, is increasingly shown to have value in various oncological and non-oncological applications. Factors such as the ease of acquisition and ability to obtain functional information in the a.s.nce of intravenous contrast, especially in patients with abnormal renal function, have contributed to the growing interest in exploring clinical applications of DWI. In the liver, DWI demonstrates a gamut of clinical applications ranging from detecting focal liver lesions to monitoring response in patients undergoing serial follow-up after loco-regional and systemic therapies. DWI is a.s. being applied in the evaluation of diffuse liver diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis. In this review, we intend to review the basic principles, technique, current clinical applications and future trends of DW-MRI in the liver.

Objective:To investigate the application of Ziehl-Neelsen(Z-N) and fluorescent microscopy in detection of acid fast bacilli(AFB).Methods:Duplicate smea.s.were prepared from 260 sputum samples and stained with Z-N and fluorescent staining(Fs) *** efficiency of both methods in primary diagnosis of tuberculosis were ***:The smea.s.were positive for AFB in 15(5.77%) samples by Z-N staining method and in 16(6.15%) samples by Fs *** sensitivity and specificity of Z-N staining method against Fs method were 93.75% and 100%***:Though lesser cost-effective than Z-N,Fs method is a more sensitive and better case finding tool in detection of AFB.

Objective:The study was undertaken to evaluate the wound healing profile of alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta and its effect on dexamethasone suppressed wound healing in Wistar ***:An alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta was *** models were used - incision,excision and dead space wound models. BACKGROUND: This cross-sectional study aimed to a.s.ss the knowledge, attitude and anxiety pertaining to basic life support(BLs) and medical emergencies among interns in dental colleges of Mangalore city, Karnataka, ***: The study subjects comprised of interns who volunteered from the four dental colleges. The knowledge and attitude of interns were a.s.ssed using a 30-item questionnaire prepared based on the Basic Life support Manual from American Heart a.s.ciation and the anxiety of interns pertaining to BLs and medical emergencies were a.s.ssed using a.s.ate-Trait Anxiety Inventory(sTAI) Questionnaire. Chi-square test was performed on sPss 21.0(IBM statistics, 2012) to determine statistically signifi cant differences(Pa.s.ssed knowledge and ***: Out of 183 interns, 39.89% had below average knowledge. A total of 123(67.21%) reported unavailability of professional training. The majority(180, 98.36%) felt the urgent need of training in basic life support procedures. a.s.ssment of stress showed a total of 27.1% participants to be above highstress level. Comparison of a.s.ssed knowledge and stress was found to be insignifi cant(P=0.983).CONCLUsION: There was an evident lack of knowledge pertaining to the management of medical emergencies among the interns. As oral health care providers moving out to the society, a focus should be placed on the training of dental interns with respect to Basic Life support procedures.

Facile solvothermal synthesis of NiFe2O4 nanoparticles for high-performance supercapacitor applications

We report a green and facile approach for the synthesis of NiFe2O4(NF)nanoparticles with good *** prepared materia.s.are studied by various techniques in order to know their phase structure,crystallinity,morphology and elemental *** BET analysis revealed a high surface area of 80.0 m^2·g^-1 for NF possessing a high pore volume of 0.54 cm^3·g^-1,a.s. contributing to the amelioration of the electrochemical *** NF sample is studied for its application in supercapacitors in an aqueous 2 mol·L^-1 KOH *** properties are studied both in the three-electrode method and in a.s.mmetrical supercapacitor *** show a high specific capacitance of 478.0 F·g^-1 from the CV curve at an applied scan rate of 5 mV·s^-1 and 368.0 F·g^-1 from the GCD analysis at a current density of 1A·g^-1 for the NF ***,the material exhibited an 88%retention of its specific capacitance after continuous 10000 cycles at a higher applied current density of8 A·g^-*** encouraging properties of NF nanoparticles suggest the practical applicability in high-performance supercapacitors.

Novel barium tungstate/nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide-graphi- tic carbon nitride （BaWO4/NRGO-g-C3N4） nanocomposite has been synthesized by a.s.mple one-pot microwave technique. The synthesized nanocomposites are well characterized by diffraction, microscopic and spectroscopic techniques to study its crystal structure, elemental composition, morphological features and optical properties. The material prepared is tested for its performance as an electrocatalyst, photocatalyst and reduction catalyst. The nanocomposite catalyzed the photodegradation of methylene blue （MB） dye in 120 min, reduction of 4-nitro phenol （4-NP） to 4-amino phenol （4-AP） in 60 s, showed an impressive Tafel slope of 62 mV/dec for hydrogen evolution reaction （HER）. The observed results suggest that the nanocomposite acts as an efficient multifunctional catalyst. The reported approach provides fundamental insights which can be extended to other metal tungstate-based ternary composites for applications in the field of clean energy and environment in the future.
