The Himalayan region is a known hot spot of crop diversity. Traditional varieties (usually called primitive cultivars or landraces), having withstood the rigors of time (including harsh climatic conditions as well as attacks of insects, pests and diseases), can still be found in crop fields in rural parts of Indian Central Himalaya (ICH). These landraces harbor many desired traits from which, for example, varieties that are tolerant/resistant to abiotic/biotic stresses could be developed. In addition to the above benefits, landraces provide a basis for food security and a more varied and interesting diet. Some landraces are also known to be of medicinal value. These, along with some lesser known hill crops, are often referred to by different names such as under exploited crops, crops for marginal lands, poor person crops, and neglected mountain crops. The Himalayan region continues to be a reservoir of a large number of landraces and cultivars whose economic and ecological potential is yet to be fully understood and/or exploited. Indians have had a history of rice cultivation since ancient times. Farmers, including tribals inhabiting the IHr, still cultivate a plethora of landraces of rice and thus directly contribute towardson-farm conservation of valuable germplasm and help in the preservation of crop diversity. The present paper looks at the on-farm conservation of rice germplasm, which is still practised in the Kumaun region of ICH.

Oral cancers suffer from poor disease free survival rates due to delayed ***,rapid,objective approaches as adjuncts to visual inspection can help in better management of oral *** spectrosoopy(rS)has shown potential in identification of oral premalignant and malignant conditions and also in the detection of early cancer changes like cancer field ffects(CFE)at buccal mucosa *** differences between different oral subsites have also been reported using *** this study,anatomical differences between subsites and their possible infuence on healthy vs pathological classification were evaluated on 85 oral cancer and 72 healthy *** were acquired from buccal mucosa,lip and tongue in healthy,contralateral(internal healthy control),premalignant and cancer conditions using fiber optic raman *** spectra indicate predominance of lipids in healthy buccal mucosa,contribution of both lipids and proteins in lip while major dominance of protein in tongue *** healthy to tumor,changes in protein secondary structure,DNA and heme related features were *** component linear discriminant analysis(PC-LDA)followed by leave one out CrOoss-validation(LOOCV)was used for data *** gs indicate buccal mucosa and tongue are distinct entities,while lip misclassifies with both these ***,the diagnostic algorithm for individual subsites gave improved classification efficiencies with respect to the pooled subsites ***,as the pooled subsites model yielded 98%specifcity and 100%sensitivity,this model may be more useful for preliminary screening ***-scale validation studies are a pre requisite before envisaging future clinical applications.

Spirulina is a sort of algae that grows in both fresh and *** is considered the Earth’s most nutritionally dense *** claims about Spirulina’s beneficial health properties are attributed to the relatively high protein content of the ***’s lipid,fatty acid profile,and biochemical composition have received little *** purpose of this study is to investigate the nature and decomposition of spirulina biomass at various *** the present investigation,Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis,and elemental analysis were used to study spirulina biomass biochemical *** optimal content of spirulina protein,lipid,and the amino acid was identified and *** this study,the various frequency ranges corresponding to functional groups are evaluated and *** FT-Ir spectra were recorded and reported at different frequency ranges from 3870–3448 cm−1 to 695–545 cm−*** studies for spirulina biomass affirmed the occurrence of–OH,–COOH,NH,C–H,and C=O ***(3453 and 1645 cm−1)and carbohydrate(1032 and 1033 cm−1)were the main components with distinct Ir spectra fingerprint *** indicate that Spirulina *** is viable green energy and the biggest protein *** mechanism underlying the high rate of protein accumulation of spirulina may aid in not only elucidating the biochemistry but also in modifying the chemical composition and strain selection for the production of specific chemicals and products.
