Meteorite impact craters as hotspots for mineral resources and energy fuels:A global review

The ever-increasing recovery rate of natural resources from terrestrial impact craters over the last fewdecades across the globe offers new avenues for further exploration of mineral and hydrocarbon resources in such *** of today,60 of the 208 terrestrial craters have been identified to host diverseresources such as hydrocarbons,metals and construction *** potential of craters as plausibleresource contributors to the energy sector is therefore,worthy of consideration,as 42(70%)of the 60craters host energy resources such as oil,gas,coal,uranium,mercury,critical and major minerals as wellas hydropower *** others,19 craters are of well-developed hydrocarbon *** associated with craters are also classified similar to other mineral resources such as progenetic,syngenetic and epigenetic *** these,the progenetic and syngenetic mineralization are confinedto the early and late excavation stage of impact crater evolution,respectively,whereas epigenetic deposits are formed during and after the modification stage of crater ***,progenetic andsyngenetic mineral deposits(like Fe,Ni,pb,Zn and Cu)associated with craters are formed as a directresult of the impact event,whereas epigenetic deposits(***)are hosted by the impactstructure and result from post-impact *** the progenetic and syngenetic deposits,the shockwave induced fracturing and melting aid the formation of deposits,whereas in the epigenetic deposits,the highly fractured lithostratigraphic units of higher porosity and permeability,like the centralelevated area(CEA)or the rim,act as *** this review,we provide a holistic view of the mineral andenergy resources associated with impact craters,and use some of the remote sensing techniques toidentify the mineral deposits as supplemented by a schematic model of the types of deposits formedduring cratering process.

Hepatotoxic Alterations Induced by Inhalation of Trichloroethylene (TCE) in Rats

Objective Trichloroethylene (TCE) is one of the most potent organic unsaturated solvents being used in dry cleaning, metal degreasing, thinner for paints varnishes and electroplating, etc. and has been reported to be a hepatotoxicant through oral and dermal exposure. However, its inhalation toxicity data is very limited in the literature due to the fact that the exposure levels associated with these effects were usually not reported. Hence, inhalation toxicity study was carried out for hepatotoxic studies. Method Inhalation toxicity studies was carried out by exposing rats to TCE for 8, 12 and 24 weeks in a dynamically operated whole body inhalation chamber. Sham treated control rats were exposed to compressed air in the inhalation chamber for the same period. Results Significant increase in liver weight (liver enlargement) appearance of necrotic lesions with fatty changes and marked necrosis were observed after longer duration (12 and 24 weeks) of TCE exposure. The lysosomal rupture resulted in increased activity of acid and alkaline phosphatase alongwith reduced glutathione content and total increased sulfhydryl content in liver tissue. Conclusion TCE exposure through Inhalation route induces hepatotoxicity in terms of marked necrosis with fatty changes and by modulating the lysosomal enzymes.

Objective:To determine the predictors of acceptance and willingness to pay(WTp)for the COVID-19 vaccine among the Indian public and to provide insights for future demand forecasts and pricing ***:A nationwide,web-based,self-administered,crosssectional survey was conducted from 5 to 20 October *** health belief model(HBM)approach was used as a theoretical framework to assess the predictors of acceptance of and WTp for the COVID-19 ***:Of 2480 respondents,2451 completed the online survey,yielding a response rate of 98.8%.participants who participated in the survey had diverse demographics in terms of their location,educational level,occupation type,and family *** 2451 respondents,the majority(89.3%)intended to receive the COVID-19 *** with high perceived benefits of COVID-19 vaccination,such as reduction in worry(OR 5.87;95%CI 4.39-7.96)and sickness(OR 4.31;95%CI 3.31-5.62),showed higher intention to receive the ***,respondents with a high perception of the side effects and barriers to vaccination(OR 0.36;95%CI 0.25-0.54)and vaccine shortage(OR 0.58;95%CI 0.41-0.81)showed lower intention to receive the *** majority(2162,88.21%)of respondents were willing to pay an amount of INR:500-1000 or USD:6.81-13.62 for a dose of COVID-19 vaccine,with a median(Q1,Q3)of INR:500(500,1000)or USD:6.81(6.81,13.62).The higher marginal WTp for the COVID-19 vaccine was influenced by advanced age,marital status,female sex,intermediate educational background,high family income,fair or poor perceived health status,and no affordable ***:The majority of respondents intended to receive the COVID-19 *** interventions focusing on HBM constructs and demographic predictors associated with low intention to receive the vaccine can be effective in enhancing the coverage of the COVID-19 *** findings of this study provide guidance for the future price considerations of the COVID-19 v

Doxycycline blocks gastric ulcer by regulating matrix metalloproteinase-2 activity and oxidative stress

AIM: To examine the effect of doxycycline on the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMps) and oxidative stress in gastric tissues of rats following gastric ***: Gastric ulcers were generated in rats by administration of 70% ethanol,and activity of doxycycline was tested by administration 30 min prior to ***,the effect of doxycycline was tested in an indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer *** activities and expression of MMps were examined by zymography and Western blot ***: Gastric injury in rats as judged by elevated ulcer indices following exposure to ulcerogen,either indomethacin or ethanol,was reversed significantly by ***-induced ulcerated gastric tissues exhibited about 12-fold higher proMMp-9 activity and about 5-fold higher proMMp-3 activity as compared to control ***,ethanol induced about 22-fold and about 6-fold higher proMMp-9 and proMMp-3 activities,respectively,in rat gastric *** proMMp-9 and MMp-3 activities were markedly decreased by doxycycline in ulcerogen treated rat gastric *** contrast,the reduced MMp-2 activity in ulcerated tissues was increased by doxycycline during ulcer *** the other hand,doxycycline inhibited significantly proMMp-9,-2 and -3 activities in *** addition,doxycycline reduced oxidative load in gastric tissues and scavenged H2O2 in *** results suggest a novel regulatory role of doxycycline on MMp-2 activity in addition to inhibitory action on MMp-9 and MMp-3 during prevention of gastric ***: This is the first demonstration of dual action of doxycycline,that is,regulation of MMp activity and reduction of oxidative stress in arresting gastric injury.

An Appraisal of Segment Reporting practices of Indian IT Industry

Segment disclosures have become an integral part of overall corporate disclosures aiming at improving the quantum and quality of financial information available in the hands of various stakeholders of firms. The disclosures leave more valuable information in the hands of investors to be used in appraising the performance of firm as a whole and its constituents. In view of changing customer and geographic profile of software industry situated in India, the present paper evaluates the segment reporting practices of listed IT firms which are required to comply with the mandatory Indian Accounting Standard No. 17 on Segment Reporting. The analysis finds a yawning gap between the prescriptions of the standard and actual reporting practices. Firms fail miserably in providing voluntary segment information which could be of shareholders value. With the ushering in of International Financial Reporting Standard ｜IFRS] regime in India in 2011, a qualitative improvement may be seen in the days ahead.
