Spinal cord injury results in the loss of sensory,motor,and autonomic functions,which almost always produces permanent physical ***,in the search for more effective treatments than those already applied for years,which are not entirely efficient,researches have been able to demonstrate the potential of biological strategies using biomaterials to tissue manufacturing through bioengineering and stem cell therapy as a neuroregenerative approach,seeking to promote neuronal recovery after spinal cord *** of these strategies has been developed and meticulously evaluated in several animal models with the aim of analyzing the potential of interventions for neuronal repair and,consequently,boosting functional *** the majority of experimental research has been conducted in rodents,there is increasing recognition of the importance,and need,of evaluating the safety and efficacy of these interventions in non-human primates before moving to clinical trials involving therapies potentially promising in *** article is a literature review from databases(pubMed,Science Direct,Elsevier,Scielo,Redalyc,Cochrane,and NCBI)from 10 years ago to date,using keywords(spinal cord injury,cell therapy,non-human primates,humans,and bioengineering in spinal cord injury).From 110 retrieved articles,after two selection rounds based on inclusion and exclusion criteria,21 articles were ***,this review arises from the need to recognize the experimental therapeutic advances applied in non-human primates and even humans,aimed at deepening these strategies and identifying the advantages and influence of the results on extrapolation for clinical applicability in humans.

We analyse the problem concerning the propagation of sound waves in gases by using the modified hydrodynamic theory proposed recently by Brenner for single-component fluids. The modifications introduced by Brenner are based on his proposal that the translational momentum in fluid motion is not given by the mass flux. Comparison of the sound propagation results derived from Brenner＇s theory with available experimental data for monatomic gases shows that this modified continuum theory is unable to describe the acoustic measurements not even in the low-frequency limit, a result that from our point of view makes Brenner＇s proposal questionable.

The chronic shortage of organs and tissues for transplantation represents a dramatic burden on healthcare systems *** engineering offers a potential solution to address these shortages,but several challenges remain,with prevascularization being a critical factor for in vivo survival and integration of tissue engineering ***,a different challenge hindering the clinical implementation of such products,regards their efficient preservation from the fabrication site to the *** has emerged as a potential solution for this issue due to its milder effects on biologic systems in comparison with other cold preservation *** impact on prevascularization,however,has not been well *** this work,3D prevascularized constructs were fabricated using adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction cells and preserved at 4◦C using Hypothermosol or basal culture media(α-MEM).Hypothermosol efficiently preserved the structural and cellular integrity of prevascular networks as compared to constructs before *** contrast,the use ofα-MEM led to a clear reduction in prevascular structures,with concurrent induction of high levels of apoptosis and autophagy at the cellular *** vivo evaluation using a chorioallantoic membrane model demonstrated that,in opposition toα-MEM,Hypothermosol preservation retained the angiogenic potential of constructs before preservation by recruiting a similar number of blood vessels from the host and presenting similar integration with host *** results emphasize the need of studying the impact of preservation techniques on key properties of tissue engineering constructs such as prevascularization,in order to validate and streamline their clinical application.

Adjusting macroeconomic indicators to account for the depletion and degradation of natural capital has long been viewed as a way to show the linkages between nature and the economy and foster more sustainable paths of ***,we show how the System of Environmental Economic Accounting(SEEA)Experimental Ecosystem Accounting(EEA)can be used to develop environmentally adjusted macroeconomic *** specifically,we show how an enlargement of the production boundary to include the consideration of ecosystems as institutional units allows the development of a net value added metric that reflects depreciation and degradation of the natural capital *** measurement could be useful for policymaking:the linkage of ecosystem services to economic activities allows us to account for loss,repair and substitution of natural capital,and thus helps us to formulate and monitor environmental policies.

Aims Changes in habitat characteristics and species composition in suc-cessional gradients could determine temporal variation in phenol-ogy of second-growth *** evaluated phenological patterns in tree species occurring in successional forests in southern Brazil,aiming to assess community changes along *** tested for general patterns and phenophase seasonality of trees of forests in successional stages and for differences in occurrence,concentra-tion,frequency and duration of *** Vegetative(flushing and leaf-fall)and reproductive(flowering and fruiting)phenophases of 149 individuals of 29 tree species were monitored monthly,for 2 years,in a successional gradient:early-(~10 years),mid-(~30 years)and late-successional(>80 years)forests in southern *** Findings Forests in the successional gradient exhibited shared frequency and duration of phenological phases,probably due to climatic or historical constraints in ***,we found differences in the rate of occurrence and concentration of phenological phases,suggesting that habitat changes caused by succession and species turnover are additional factors affecting phenological patterns in tropical forests.

To study the dynamic behavior of a process,time-resolved data are collected at different time instants during each of a series of experiments,which are usually designed with the design of experiments or the design of dynamic experiments *** utilizing such time-resolved data to model the dynamic behavior,dynamic response surface methodology(DRSM),a datadriven modeling method,has been *** approaches can be adopted in the estimation of the model parameters:stepwise regression,used in several of previous publications,and Lasso regression,which is newly incorporated in this paper for the estimation of DRSM ***,we show that both approaches yield similarly accurate models,while the computational time of Lasso is on average two magnitude *** case studies are performed to show the advantages of the proposed *** the first case study,where the concentrations of different species are modeled directly,DRSM method provides more accurate models compared to the models in the *** second case study,where the reaction extents are modeled instead of the species concentrations,illustrates the versatility of the DRSM ***,DRSM with Lasso regression can provide faster and more accurate datadriven models for a variety of organic synthesis datasets.

SUMMARY Various case reports of patients with Dandy-Walker variant syndrome mimicking schizophrenia have been published in the last 20 years, suggest!ng that this neurodevelopment disorder should be part of the differential diagnosis for every patient with a first episode of psychosis. In this report, it is presented that a patient who was diagnosed and treated as a paranoid schizophrenic for 20 years and had four bone fractures secondary to ataxic gait impairment, before performing a neuroimaging examination that revealed Dandy-Walker variant syndrome.
