To produce fusion reactions efficiently,thermonuclear plasmas have to reach extremely high temperatures,which is incompatible with their coming into contact with material *** of plasmas using magnetic fields has progressed significantly in the last years,particularly in the tokamak ***,all tokamak devices,and particularly metallic ones,are plagued by catastrophic events called *** disruptions are preceded by anomalies in the radiation patterns,particularly in ITER-relevant *** specific forms of radiation emission either directly cause or reveal the approaching collapse of the *** the localization of these radiation anomalies in real time requires an innovative and specific elaboration of bolometric measurements,confirmed by visible cameras and the inversion of sophisticated tomographic *** information derived from these measurements can be interpreted in terms of local power balances,which suggest a new quantity,the radiated power divided by the plasma internal energy,to determine the criticality of the plasma *** with robust indicators of the temperature profile shape,the identified anomalous radiation patterns allow determination of the sequence of macroscopic events leading to disruptions.A systematic analysis of JET campaigns at high power in deuterium,full tritium,and DT,for a total of almost 2000 discharges,proves the effectiveness of the *** warning times are such that,depending on the radiation anomaly and the available actuators,the control system of future devices is expected to provide enough notice to enable deployment of effective prevention and avoidance strategies.

Discoloration of Rhodamine B dyeing wastewater by schorl-catalyzed Fenton-like reaction

As other natural iron-bearing minerals, schorl could be taken as an effective iron source for degradation of organic pollutants by mineral-catalyzed Fenton-like system. In our present study, the schorl-catalyzed Fenton-like system has been successfully developed for discoloration of an active commercial dye, Rhodamine B (RhB), in an aqueous solution. Through a number of batch discoloration experiments under various conditions, it was found that the reactivity of the system increased by, respectively, increasing schorl dosage, temperature, hydrogen peroxide starting concentration and by decreasing the pH. Over 90% of discoloration ratio could be gained in less than 30 min, and nearly 70% of total organic carbon (TOC) could be removed in less than 200 min. And, the schorl catalyst could be repeatedly used at least ten times, still with high catalytic activity. Comparative studies indicated that the RhB discoloration ratios were much higher in presence of schorl and H2O2 than those in presence of schorl or H2O2 only, which suggested that the schorl-catalyzed Fenton-like reaction governed the RhB discoloration process. The content of Fe ion leaching in the solution was also measured using inductively coupling plasma-atomic emission spectra (ICP-AES). A mechanism proposed herein suggested that adsorption and Fenton-like reaction (heterogeneous and homogeneous) were responsible for the discoloration of RhB.

Role of schorl’s electrostatic field in discoloration of methyl orange wastewater using schorl as catalyst in the presence of H_2O_2

Dyeing wastewater containing methyl orange (MO) could be effectively discolored by schorl-catalyzed Fenton-like system. Experimental results indicated that the MO discoloration ratios could be increased by increasing schorl dosage, temperature, initial H2O2 concentration, and by decreasing solution pH. When the raw schorl and the schorl samples sintered at 750°C, 850°C, 950°C and 1050°C were used as catalyst in Fenton-like system, the MO discoloration ratios obtained were 82%, 31%, 30%, 31% and 7%, respectively. XRD results showed that samples sintered at 750°C, 850°C and 950°C had no change in structure and still held the crystal structure of schorl and quartz, but, the content of schorl crystal decreased. Whereas, schorl crystal completely disappeared in the sample sintered at 1050°C and two new crystal phases of hematite and spinel were formed, which resulted in disappearance of the spontaneous ‘electrostatic poles’. Hence, it was inferred that the electrostatic field of schorl crystal could enhance the MO discoloration by schorl-catalyzed Fenton-like reaction.

Half-a-century(1971–2020)of glacier shrinkage and climatic variability in the Bhaga basin,western Himalaya

Glacier shrinkage is a globally occurring ***-resolution change detection based on frequent mapping and monitoring of high-altitude glaciers is necessary to precisely evaluate future water availability and to understand glacier evolution under different climatic scenarios in the Hindukush-Karakoram-Himalayan(HKH)*** also holds true for the Bhaga basin of the western *** study investigates glacier and glacier lake changes in the Bhaga basin,over the last five decades based on satellite imagery including Corona KH4(1971),Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus(ETM+;2000),Linear Imaging Self-Scanning Sensor(LISS Ⅳ;2013),and Sentinel 2(2020).Regional temperature and precipitation trends were evaluated from gridded climatic datasets(1900–2020).In the Bhaga basin 306 glaciers(>0.2 km^(2))were mapped with a total area of 360.3±4.0 km^(2),of which 55.7±0.6 km^(2)was covered with debris in *** total glacier covered area decreased by∼8.2±1.5%(0.16±0.03%yr-1)during the entire observation period 1971–2020,with noticeable heterogeneity between tributary *** the past two decades(2000–2020),the deglaciation rate has increased significantly(0.25%yr-1)compared to the previous decades(1971–2000;0.12%yr-1).Glacier lake area increased by 0.6±0.1 km^(2)(0.012 km^(2)yr-1)between 1971 and *** NCEP/NCAR climatic data reveals an increase of 0.63℃in temperature and a decrease of 6.39 mm in precipitation for the period 1948–*** comparison,APHRODITE data shows an increasing trend in temperature of 1.14℃between 1961 and 2015 and decreasing trend in precipitation of 31 mm between 1951 and *** NCEP/NCAR and APHRODITE data reveal significant temperature increase and precipitation decrease since the 1990s,which have probably augmented ice loss in the Bhaga basin during the early 21st century.

Clinicosocial Profile of People Who Inject Drugs Receiving Opioid Substitution Therapy at New Delhi

Introduction:Injecting drug use is a public health concern due to its clinical,social,economic,and legal ***:(1)To evaluate the prevalence of infections associated with injecting drug use;and(2)To assess the social profile of substance users and high-risk behaviors among people who inject drugs(PWID)receiving opioid substitution therapy(OST).Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 PWID who were deemed eligible using inclusion and exclusion *** were collected through an interviewer-administered structured questionnaire after obtaining informed written ***:The results revealed that 14%of PWID had human immunodeficiency virus(HIV),7%had tuberculosis,and 2%had hepatitis B virus(HBV).None of the PWID self-reported hepatitis C virus(HCV)***,71%of PWID were living on the streets(***),and 41%of PWID had a history of sharing needles with other users in the preceding 3 *** or single PWID had significantly increased risk of homelessness(χ^(2)=4.570;P=0.032)and reported high-risk sexual practices with commercial sexual partners in the preceding 3 months(χ^(2)=4.163;P=0.041).Homeless PWID had significantly increased frequency of injecting practices(P=0.020).Conclusion:Despite the higher global prevalence of HCV compared with HBV and HIV among PWID,HCV testing is not currently conducted at most OST centers in *** to free needles and syringes should be enhanced to reduce the morbidity associated with injecting drug use.

Sm^(3+) ions incorporated Sm_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) crystalline phase formed in the aluminoborosilicate glass matrix synthesized via melting quenching technique followed by heat-treatment process is reported *** preliminary confirmation on the obtained glass ceramics was made through X-ray diffration(XRD) *** of non-bridging oxygens(NBOs) in the glass network and the modes of vibrations of network units we re analyzed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) *** morphology of heat-treated samples at varying temperatures was determined via a field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM).The absorption studies on heat-treated samples signify the low bandgap values and high Urbach energy values due to improved crystallinity in the glass ***-Ofelt intensity parameters identified for visible absorption transitions follow the trend of Ω_(4)>Ω_(2)>Ω_(6).Excitation and emission studies on heat-treated samples show improvement in their intensities compared to the unheated base *** thermal quenching is observed at higher temperatures(540 and 580℃ for 3 h) of heat-treated *** based on luminescence spectra including radiative transition probability,stimulated emission cross-section and branching ratio show good results for glass ceramics prior to precursor *** lifetimes of Sm^(3+) ions(milliseconds) in the level ^(4)G_(5/2) are seen for glass *** coordinates suggest the reddish-orange emissions from prepared glass ***,Sm^(3+) doped Sm_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) glass ceramics are favorable materials for solid-state lighting and laser applications.

Optimization of Sectional Dimensions of I-Section Flange Beams and Recommendations for IS 808: 1989

This study covers optimization of I-sectional flange beams. Scope of this study is limited to medium weight flange beams of Table 1 of IS 808:1983 but it can be further extended for the other sections of this code. Best possible geometric shape of the cross-section is found for maximum performance of the beam with minimum material consumption. All possible loading conditions are considered in the study for which a beam in flexure undergoes in its life. ANSYS software program is used for the analysis and optimizing the sections. It is found that sections MB 125, MB 300 and MB 400 of Table 1 of IS 808 are not the optimum sections but other alternative of these cross-sections is available which within the same material consumption performs better than these sections of IS code.

Youth friendly health services and role of outreach activities to improve access to services

An attempt has been made to assess the Youth Friendly Health Services (YFHS) from the clients’ perspectives and the role of outreach community-based approach (Youth Information Center, YIC) in improving access to services. A cross- sectional study was undertaken in Arajiline and Hoskote blocks in Varanasi and Bangalore districts respectively using primarily a quantitative technique. A consecutive sample of 120 clients from 4 selected clinics was interviewed after seeking services from YFHS. Additionally, facility assessment of clinics and 8 FGDs were conducted among community members and the young people in the community. Majority of the clients (90.8%) are aware that YFHS provide services to young males and females separately on specific day and time. Nearly 66% clients visited YFHS to sought treatment for three key health problems i.e. menstruation problems (25.4%) followed by general illness (22.8%) and swelling/itching of private parts (21.1%). In Hos- akote privacy was maintained during the con- sultation with the doctor, however, situation was relatively not better in Arajiline. Out of those clients who had visited YIC atleast once, 49 out of 53 in Arajiline and 51 out of 60 in Hasokote reported that the YIC staff/activities had motivated them to sought services at YFHS. Study concludes that while majority of the clients were satisfied with the services at YFHS, there is a need for strengthening the existing “package” of the services. At facility level, reassurance about the privacy and confidentially and alternative ways to promote access and utilization of services by active involvement of young people is recommended. On the other hand, at outreach level, new technologies should be introduced to generate demand, intensive focus on adults in the community and integration of YIC with local governance and school environment is suggested so as to protect young people against poor health outcomes.
