A five years study of fascioliasis and dicrocoeliasis in Iran's slaughterhouses

Objective:Fascioliasis and dicrocoeliasis are the two endemic parasitic diseases of Iran that make lots of economical damages *** study has been performed to evaluate infection rate of domesticated animals to fascioliasis and dicrocoeliasis among of slaughtered animals in slaughterhouses of ***:In this crosssectional study infection rate of slaughtered animals has been analyzed in 28 provinces of Iran during 5 years period(2003-2007).Results:It is indicated that infection rate was 4.84%to fascioliasis and dicrocoeliasis in this five-year study *** removed livers were 815 807 and 771 026 numbers from consumption cycle for fascioliasis and dicrocoeliasis respectively from 32 714 926 slaughtered *** highest infection rate was Gilan(20.91%),Mazandaran(16.36%),and Esfahan(9.95%) respectively among studied provinces while the lowest infection rate was indicated in Ilam(0.76%),Boushehr(0.84%),and Yazd(1.51%) respectively. Our data proved the highest frequency rate were identified in summer and autumn for both fascioliasis and ***:Fascioliasis and dicrocoeliasis are continuously increasing in slaughter animals of *** the results of current study can improve and move up activities against these zoonosis diseases.

Rising worldwide cancer incidence and resistance to current anti-cancer drugs necessitate the need for new pharmaceutical compounds and drug delivery system. Malfunction of the immune system, particularly in the tumor microenvironment, causes tumor growth and enhances tumor progression. Thus, cancer immunotherapy can be an appropriate approach to provoke the systemic immune system to combat tumor expansion. Texosomesj which are endogenous nanovesicles released by all tumor cells, contribute to cell-cell communication and modify the phenotypic features of recipient cells due to the texosomes＇ ability to transport biological components. For this reason, texosome-based delivery system can be a valuable strategy for therapeutic purposes. To improve the pharmaceutical behavior of this system and to facilitate its use in medical applications, biotechnology approaches and mimetic techniques have been utilized. In this review, we present the development history oftexosome-based delivery systems and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each system.

In this study,twelve machine learning(ML)techniques are used to accurately estimate the safety factor of rock slopes(SFRS).The dataset used for developing these models consists of 344 rock slopes from various open-pit mines around Iran,evenly distributed between the training(80%)and testing(20%)*** models are evaluated for accuracy using Janbu's limit equilibrium method(LEM)and commercial tool GeoStudio *** assessment metrics show that the random forest model is the most accurate in estimating the SFRS(MSE=0.0182,R2=0.8319)and shows high agreement with the results from the LEM *** results from the long-short-term memory(LSTM)model are the least accurate(MSE=0.037,R2=0.6618)of all the models ***,only the null space support vector regression(NuSVR)model performs accurately compared to the practice mode by altering the value of one parameter while maintaining the other parameters *** is suggested that this model would be the best one to use to calculate the SFRS.A graphical user interface for the proposed models is developed to further assist in the calculation of the SFRS for engineering *** this study,we attempt to bridge the gap between modern slope stability evaluation techniques and more conventional analysis methods.

Hippo Tumor Suppressor Pathway is the main pathway for cell growth that regulates tissue enlargement and organ size by limiting cell *** pathway is activated in response to cell cycle arrest signals(cell polarity,transduction,and DNA damage)and limited by growth factors or mitogens associated with EGF and *** major pathway consists of the central kinase of Ste20 MAPK(Saccharomyces cerevisiae),Hpo(Drosophila melanogaster)or MST kinases(mammalian)that activates the mammalian AGC kinase dmWts or LATS effector(MST and LATS).YAP in the nucleus work as a cofactor for a wide range of transcription factors involved in proliferation(TEA domain family,TEAD1-4),stem cells(Oct4 mononuclear factor and SMAD-related TGFb effector),differentiation(RUNX1),and Cell cycle/apoptosis control(p53,p63,and p73 family members).This is due to the diverse roles of YAP and may limit tumor progression and *** also coordinates various signal transduction pathways such as Hippo,WNT,TGFb and EGFR,and effects on lack of regulation of TEAD cancerous genes,such as KRAS,BRAF,LKB1,NF2 and MYC,which play essential roles in tumor progression,metastasis,cancer metabolism,immunity,and drug ***,RAS signaling is a pivotal factor in the inactivation of Hippo,which controls EGFR-RAS-RAF-MEK-ERKmediated interaction of Hippo ***,the loss of the Hippo pathway may have significant consequences on the targets of RAS-RAF mutations in cancer.

In this paper a new approach for obtaining an approximation global optimum solution of zero-one nonlinear programming (0-1 NP) problem which we call it Parametric Linearization Approach (P.L.A) is proposed. By using this approach the problem is transformed to a sequence of linear programming problems. The approximately solution of the original 0-1 NP problem is obtained based on the optimum values of the objective functions of this sequence of linear programming problems defined by (P.L.A).

AIM: To detect the effect of intraoperative prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) infusion on survival of esophagectomized patients due to cancer. METHODS: In this preliminary study, a double blinded placebo based clinical trial was performed. Thirty patients with esophageal cancer scheduled for esophagectomy via the transthoracic approach were randomized by a block randomization method, in two equal groups: PGE1 group - infusion of PGE1 (20 ng/kg per minute) in the operating room and placebo group - saline 0.9% with the same volume and rate. The infusion began before induction of anesthesia and finished just before transfer to the intensive care unit. The patients, anesthetist, intensive care physicians, nurses and surgeons were blinded to both study groups. All the patients were anesthetized with the same method. For postoperative pain control, a thoracic epidural catheter was placed for all patients before induction of anesthesia. We followed up the patients until October 2010. Basic characteristics, duration of anesthesia, total surgery and thoracotomy time, preoperative hemoglobin, length of tumor, grade of histological differentiation, disease stage, number of lymph nodes in the resected mass, number of readmissions to hospital, total duration of readmission and survival rates were compared between the two groups. Some of the data originates from the historical data reported in our previous study. We report them for better realization of the follow up results. RESULTS: The patients’ characteristics and perioperative variables were compared between the two groups. There were no significant differences in age (P = 0.48), gender (P = 0.27), body mass index (P = 0.77), American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status more than?I?(P = 0.71), and smoking (P = 0.65). Aim: Breast reconstruction has several beneficial effects on psychosocial well-being and quality of life. The ultimate goal has always been to create the most natural breast mound. Thus in many centers, the unilateral pedicled transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flap remains the most common technique for breast reconstruction. Our objective was to retrospectively compare the outcomes of ipsilateral and contralateral pedicle TRAM flaps. Methods: The total of 110 patients underwent unilateral breast reconstruction with pedicle TRAM flap at Cancer Institute of Tehran University of Medical Science from January 1996 to June 2011. Premorbid risk factors, postoperative outcomes and demographic data were assessed. The analysis of the recordings was done by SPSS 20. Results: Out of 110 patients who were included in the study, 87 had ipsilateral and 23 contralateral pedicle TRAM flaps. The incidence of flap complications that did not require surgical intervention was 19.7% in ipsilateral and 30.4% in contralateral pedicle TRAM flap. The incidence of flap loss requiring revision was significantly higher in contralateral group (P = 0.001). Major complications were noted in 11.5% of the ipsilateral pedicle TRAM patients and 26.1% of the contralateral group (P < 0.001). Minor complications were noted in 17.2% of the ipsilateral pedicle TRAM patients and in 34.8% of the contralateral group (P < 0.001). Total early hospital stay was longer in contralateral pedicle TRAM flaps (7.66 days vs. 10.68 days, P = 0.83). H igher c omplications were e ncountered i n c ontralateral p edicle T RAM flaps compared to ipsilateral pedicle TRAM patients (39.1% vs. 19.5%, P = 0.001). The type of pedicled TRAM flap (ipsilateral vs. contralateral), had significant effect on complications (odds ratio = 0.007, P = 0.002) while other variables had no significant effect on the incidence of complications. Sex-specific pathways in early cardiac response to pressure overload in mice

We used a transverse aortic constriction(TAC) mouse model leading to hypertrophy without sex differences in cardiac function after 2 weeks, but with sex differences in hypertrophy 6 and 9 weeks after TAC. Cardiac gene expression was analyzed 2 weeks after surgery. Deregulated genes were classified into functional gene ontology(GO) categories and used for pathway analysis. Classical marker genes of hypertrophy were similarly upregulated in both sexes(α-actin, ANP, BNP, CTGF). Thirty-five genes controlling mitochondrial function(PGC-1, cytochrome oxidase, carnitine palmitoyl transferase, acyl-Co A dehydrogenase, pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase) had lower expression in males compared to females after TAC. Genes encoding ribosomal proteins and genes associated with extracellular matrix remodeling exhibited relative higher expression in males(collagen 3, matrix metalloproteinase 2, TIMP2, and TGFβ2, all about twofold) after TAC. We confirmed 87% of the gene expression by real-time polymerase chain reaction. By GO classification, female-specific genes were related to mitochondria and metabolism and males to matrix and biosynthesis. Promoter studies confirmed the upregulation of PGC-1 by E2. Less downregulation of metabolic genes in female hearts and increased protein synthesis capacity and deregulation of matrix remodeling in male hearts characterize the sex-specific early response to PO. These differences could contribute to subsequent sex differences in cardiac function and Hf.
