Conventional generation emulation for power grids with a high penetration of wind power

Integrating large-scale wind plants with the electricity grids has many challenges for grid *** the variability and uncertainty of wind power,coordinating between different technologies of generation in the same grid can be considered the main problem,specifically for short-term frequency ***,a large penetration of wind power generation in modern power grids has a risky influence on the power-system ***-generation plants have contradictory behaviour compared to classic thermal plants,especially in active generated power-shortage events due to the variable nature of wind *** experience in wind plants keeps part of the available wind power unloaded,using what are known as deloading *** deloading techniques are usually applied to emulate the thermal-plant-governor function and confirm a proper spinning reserve for any active-power *** techniques decrease the generated power from wind plants continuously from maximum point tracking ***,the practical capacity,annual generated energy and economical income of wind plants are *** addition,grid-protection and control sub-schemes are set and designed according to the well-known conventional responses of thermal plants,which increase the need for thermal-plant-behaviour *** this paper,instead of the usual deloading methods,a supercapacitors scheme is proposed with wind turbines to emulate the response of conventional power *** study discusses the technical and economic benefits of the proposed addition of supercapacitors in the wind-plant-planning *** frequency grid-code indices are selected to evaluate studied *** results of the IEEE four-generation two-area system determines the effectiveness of suggested schemes *** System Advisor model(SAm)program estimates the economic benefits of a typical US study case compared with the existing wind-deloading technique.

Utilization of iron oxide bearing pellets waste for preparing hard and soft ferromagnetic glass ceramics

About 8%of the imported iron oxide pellets burdens to Egypt are *** this paper,broken pellets waste(BPW)is used as raw material for the preparation of hard magnetic glass ceramics(HmGC)as well as soft magnetic glass ceramics(SmGC).About 54 wt%and 37 wt%of BPW are used to prepare SmGC and HmGC,*** thermal analysis(DTA)reveals two broad exothermic peaks for HmGC at 591℃and 697℃,whereas one exothermic peak at 820℃is detected for SmGC.X-ray diffraction(XRD)shows the crystallization of hematite as the sol phase in BPW,and meanwhile,Zn-ferrite and Ba-hexaferrite are identified in SmGC and HmGC,*** electron microscopy(TEm)reveals the crystallization of nanosize particles of~20 nm for SmGC and~12 nm for *** scanning magnetometer(VSm)reveals an increase in saturation magnetization from~1 emu/g for BPW to~77 emu/g for SmGC and 21 emu/g for HmGC.

Characteristics and outcome of newborn admitted with acute bilirubin encephalopathy to a tertiary neonatal intensive care unit

Background Acute bilirubin encephalopathy (ABE) still represents a significant cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world,especially in developing *** aimed to determine the prevalence of ABE based on the Johnson bilirubininduced neurologic dysfunction (BIND) score and to describe the discharge *** We prospectively studied all newborns ≥ 35 weeks with ABE by evaluating signs of mental sensorium,muscle tone,and cry patterns over 1 *** 12% (81 out of 674) of the newborns admitted for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia had a BIND score > *** admission age was 6 ± 4.1 days;total serum bilirubin (TSB) was 31.2± 10 mg/dL (range 17.5-75.2).Of these newborns,40.7% and 21% had evidence of haemolysis and sepsis,*** mortality was 9.9%;58% of the newborns showed signs of mild-to-moderate BIND at discharge,while 32.1% survived with an apparently normal *** BIND score was significantly correlated with admission TSB (r=0.476,P milarly,BIND score at discharge was correlated with admission TSB (r=0.442,P mission BIND score (r =0.888,P model showed that admission TSB (P maternal illiteracy (P =0.034) were predictors of the BIND score at admission,while admission BIND score was the best indicator of the discharge score (P major problem in our *** TSB and maternal illiteracy are good predictors of bilirubin encephalopathy at admission and discharge.

The differential cross sections of elastic and inelastic scattering of ~3He ions on ^（13）C and ^（14）C have been studied at an energy of 37.9 meV with a double folding model based on m3Y-Reid effective nucleon-nucleon *** resulted parameters have been used for the standard Distorted Wave Born Approximation calculations of angular distributions corresponding to different excitations levels of ^（13）C and ^（14）C and deformation parameters have been deduced.

Incidence and risk factors of post-phototherapy neonatal rebound hyperbilirubinemia

Background To determine the incidence and risk factors of post-phototherapy rebound hyperbilirubinemia because data about bilirubin rebound in neonates are lacking and few studies have concerned this condition. methods A prospective observational study was conducted on 500 neonates with indirect hyperbilirubinemia who were treated according to standard guidelines. Total serum bilirubin (TSB) was measured at 24–36 h after phototherapy;significant bilirubin rebound (SBR) is considered as increasing TSB that needs reinstitution of phototherapy. Results A total of 124 (24.9%) neonates developed SBR with TSB increased by 3.4 (2.4–11.2) mg/dL after stopping pho-totherapy. multiple logistic regression model revealed the following significant risk factors for rebound: low birth weight (B = 1.3,P molysis (B = 1.2,P molysis, low birth weight, suspected sepsis, short duration of conventional phototherapy, exposure to intensive phototherapy, and relatively high discharge TSB. These risk factors should be taken into account when planning post-phototherapy follow-up.

Central retinal artery resistive index and optical coherence tomography in assessment of glaucoma progression

AIm: To assess the relation between central retinal artery(CRA) resistive index(RI) and retinal nerve fiber thickness measured by optical coherence tomography(OCT) in assessment of disease progress in cases of open angle ***: Twenty-three patients with diagnosed open angle glaucoma were included in this study. They were examined by colored duplex ultrasonography of CRA with estimation of RI of CRA and ophthalmic artery(OA)with estimation of CRA/OA RI ratio as well as OCT measurement of the average retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL) thickness in order to assess the disease ***: There was strong inverse relation between the increased RI in CRA as well as the increased CRA/OA RI ratio and the decrease in average RNFL thickness in cases of open angle ***: Assessment of CRA RI can indirectly assess the vascular changes associated with glaucoma and can assess the degree of retinal atrophy helping in evaluating prognosis thus guiding the choice of treatment.

Barrett's esophagus:Prevalence and risk factors in patients with chronic GERD in Upper Egypt

AIm： To determine the prevalence and possible risk factors of Barrett＇s esophagus （BE） in patients with chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease （GERD） in EI minya and Assuit, Upper Egypt. mETHODS： One thousand consecutive patients with chronic GERD symptoms were included in the study over 2 years. They were subjected to history taking including a questionnaire for GERD symptoms, clinical examination and upper digestive tract endoscopy. Endoscopic signs suggestive of columnar-lined esophagus （CLE） were defined as mucosal tongues or an upward shift of the squamocolumnar junction. BF was diagnosed by pathological examination when specialized intestinal metaplasia was detected histologically in suspected CLE. pH was monitored in 40 patients. RESULTS： BE was present in 7.3% of patients with chronic GERD symptoms, with a mean age of 48.3 ± 8.2 years, which was significantly higher than patients with GERD without BE （37.4 ± 13.6 years）. Adenocarcinoma was detected in eight cases （0.8%）, six of them in BE patients. There was no significant difference between patients with BE and GERD regarding sex, smoking, alcohol consumption or symptoms of GERD. Patients with BE had significantly longer esophageal acid exposure time in the supine position, measured by pH monitoring. CONCLUSION： The prevalence of BE in patients with GERD who were referred for endoscopy was 7.3%. BE seems to be associated with older age and more in patients with nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux.

Exact solutions of stochastic fractional Korteweg de–Vries equation with conformable derivatives

We deal with the Wick-type stochastic fractional Korteweg de–Vries(KdV) equation with conformable *** the aid of the Exp-function method, white noise theory, and Hermite transform, we produce a novel set of exact soliton and periodic wave solutions to the fractional KdV equation with conformable derivatives. With the help of inverse Hermite transform, we get stochastic soliton and periodic wave solutions of the Wick-type stochastic fractional KdV equation with conformable derivatives. Eventually, by an application example, we show how the stochastic solutions can be given as Brownian motion functional solutions.

Study on Flavonoids and Triterpenoids Content of some Euphorbiaceae Plants

The Spurge family （Euphorbiaceae） is a large family of flowering plants. Two plant species of this family were collected from the Egyptian desert, extracted with methanol subjected to silica gel column chromatography to give six compounds, three compounds from each plant. The compounds isolated from the methanol extract of Euphorbia retusa Forssk were identified as kaempferol-3-beta-D glucopyranosyl （1）, 3-O-alpha-L-xylopyranosyl （1→3）-alpha-L xylopyranosyl （1→2）, beta-D glucopyranosyllup 1,12-diene-3,21-diol （2） and 5,7,8,3＇,4＇-pentahydroxy-3-methoxyflavone （3） and the compounds isolated from Euphorbia paralais L. identified as 3,5,3＇-trihydroxy-6,7-d-methoxy-4＇（7＂-hydroxygeranyl-1＂-ether） flavones （4）, 3-O-syringic acid （1→4）-alpha-L- xylopyranosyl （1→3）, beta-D-rahminopyranosyl hederagenin （5） and 3-O-syringic acid （1→4）, beta-D-rahminopyranosyl （1→3）,beta-D-rahminopyranosyl hederagenin （6）. The structure of the isolated compounds was elucidated by chemical and spectrometric analysis such as Infera red （IR）, proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance （1H-, 13C-NmR） and chemical ionization mass spectrometry （CI-mS）.

Impact of wastewater reuse on cobalt status in Egyptian environment

Cobalt is used in the manufacture of alloys, catalysts in the petroleum industry, catalytic converters, and paint pigments. Thus the potential for Co releases into the environment is highly increased. Use of waste sludges and sewage effluent to fertilize and irrigate soils has also increased soil Co concentrations. Total cobalt contents of alluvial delta soil of Egypt show considerable variation ranging from 13.1 to 64.7 ppm. The impact of either wastewater irrigation or industrial activities on soil total Co was obvious due to accumulation of organic matter and solid waste in the surface soil samples. Food crops and vegetables should not be grown on soil highly contaminated by Co. It is noteworthy that the delayed neutron activation analysis(DNAA) technique could be used successfully for total Co determination due to its high sensitivity. It is quit clearly that dust samples of Cairo City contains higher Co level, as compared to Suez Canal Region(Ismailia, Port Said and El-Suez cities). The high values in Cairo City may be due to the existence of industries around the city and the intensive traffic. To minimize Co environmental hazards, waste effluents should be treated on site. Thus, levels of potentially toxic Co needs to be continuously monitored and should be removed during several treatment processes before the disposal of these wastes.
