Off-Design Simulation of a CSP Power Plant Integrated with aWaste Heat Recovery System

Concentrating Solar Power(CSP)plants offer a promising way to generate low-emission ***,these plants face challenges such as reduced sunlight during winter and cloudy days,despite being located in high solar radiation ***,their dispatch capacities and yields can be affected by high electricity consumption,particularly at *** present work aims to develop an off-design model that evaluates the hourly and annual performances of a parabolic trough power plant(PTPP)equipped with a waste heat recovery *** study aims to compare the performances of this new layout with those of the conventional Andasol 1 plant,with the aim of assessing the improvements achieved in the new *** on the results,it can be concluded that the new layout has increased the annual generated power to almost 183 GWh(an increase of about 7.60% is achieved compared to the Andasol 1 layout that generates 169 GWh annually).Additionally,the proposed installation has achieved an efficiency of 20.55%,which represents a 7.87% increase compared to the previous design(19.05%).The Levelized Cost of Electricity(LCOE)of the new layout has been reduced by more than 5.8% compared to the Andasol 1 ***,it has decreased from 13.11 to 12.35 c/*** reduction in LCOE highlights the improved cost-effectiveness of the newlayout,making it amore economically viable option for generating electricity compared to the conventional Andasol 1 plant.

In this paper,we explore the use of the diffusion geometry framework for the fusion of geometric and photometric information in local and global shape *** construction is based on the definition of a diffusion process on the shape manifold embedded into a high-dimensional space where the embedding coordinates represent the photometric *** results show that such data fusion is useful in coping with different challenges of shape analysis where pure geometric and pure photometric methods fail.

Analysis of the change in forest cover is important to determine stand dynamics and the processes involved in disturbance and *** of the core zone of the monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve were studied using photo interpretation techniques,considering biennial changes between 1999 and 2013 and changes over the whole period of study 1999–*** matrices were elaborated to determine the processes of change involved in both recovery and *** biennial changes for the whole period amounted to 2274 ha;343 ha accounted as degraded in more than one biennial *** total changes in forest cover between 1999 and 2013 involved 4902 ha,out of which,2912 ha were affected by disturbance,and 1990 ha were *** density and 2013 vegetation cover maps,the overall accuracy was 95.6%and 90.2%,*** combining both maps,gradual processes were revealed that were not evident in separate *** methodology is useful for the management and conservation of natural protected areas.

Investigation on available wind energy at Tungku beach

In this paper, wind velocities and directions （sea and land） are recorded in different days and times. The data collected were compared with the weather data from the Brunei Darussalam meteorological Service （BDmS） and the findings of other researchers and were found to be in good agreement. The potential of wind energy is predicted from the available data collected. The average generated power （forenoon and afternoon） is found to be 25 （mean） and 18W （median）, 101 （mean） and 73W （median）, 912 （mean） and 660 W （median）, 10137 （mean） and 7331 W （median） for a rotor with a diameter of 2.5, 5, 15 and 50 m, respectively. The power density Pd for wind farming is found to be 0.26 （mean） and 0.19 （median）, 0.31 （mean） and 0.22 （median） for the rotor whose diameter is 2.5 and 50 m, respectively, while the average Pd values are found to be 0.28 （mean） and 0.2 （median） for the rotor whose diameter is 5 and 15 m.

Impact of poly chlorinated biphenyl (Aroclor 1254) and vitamin C on antioxidant system of rat ventral prostate

Aim: To evaluate the effect of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and vitamin C on ventral prostatic antioxidant system in adult male rats. methods: A group of 20 adult male rats were administered ip Aroclor 1254 in corn oil at a dose of 2 mg·kg-1·day-1 for 30 days. Ten control rats were administered only the vehicle. After 30 days the treated rats were divided at random into 2 sub-groups of 10 animals each. One sub-group received vitamin C at a dose of 500 mg·kg-1·day-1 for 10 days. The other group was maintained as Aroclor 1254 control. Twenty-four hours after the last treatment the rats were killed by decapitation. Ventral prostatic homogenate was prepared and used for the estimation of enzymatic antioxidants, including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), lipid peroxidation (LPO) and prostatic acid phosphatase. The serum levels of total T3, total T4, TSH, testosterone and estradiol were also assayed. Results: The body weight and ventral prostatic weight were reduced in PCB treated rats. The activities of SOD, CAT, GST and acid phosphatase were decreased while the levels of H2O2 and lipid peroxidation were increased in the ventral prostate of PCB treated rats. Administration of vitamin C restored these parameters. Serum levels of thyroid hormones, estradiol and testosterone were decreased in PCB treated animals. Administration of vitamin C restored the thyroid hormone levels. Conclusion: PCB induces oxidative stress and decreases the antioxidant enzymes in the ventral prostate of adult male rats; the effects could be reversed by the administration of vitamin C.

Profile of Autoimmune Polyendocrinopathies at the medical Clinic II of the Abass Ndao Hospital: About 40 Cases

Introduction: Autoimmune polyendocrinopathies (AP) represent a group of rare concomitant pathologies, making them underdiagnosed. The objective was to study their profile at the medical Clinic II of the Abass Ndao Hospital. Patients and methods: This was an observational, descriptive and analytical study, lasting 24 months, from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022. We assessed the epidemiological, clinical and paraclinical characteristics of the patients and classified the APs found. Results: We included 40 patients divided into type III (38 cases) and IV (2 cases). A female predominance was noted with a sex ratio of 0.21. The mean age was 38.6 years. A family history of component diseases of autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome (APS) was found in 62.5%. Goiter (80%) was the main clinical sign present. All 38 patients with ISAP-3 had autoimmune thyroiditis, including 29 cases of Graves’ disease (72.5%) and 9 cases of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (22.5%). They were associated with either type 1 diabetes (57.9%), Biermer’s disease (21.1%), vitiligo + alopecia (18.4%), lupus (2.6%). The 2 patients with AP-4 had Biermer’s disease associated with either Addison’s disease or type 1 diabetes. management depended on the pathologies present and their possible complications. The immunological phenomena were also controlled. Conclusion: This series is globally similar to the literature. The polymorphous character of the clinical pictures requires a better collaboration between specialists leading to a clinical and holistic synthesis.

Axisymmetric and three-dimensional flow simulation of a mixed compression supersonic air inlet

The flow through an axisymmetric supersonic mixed-compression air inlet has been simulated numerically to investigate the effects and the necessity of the three-dimensional(3D)modeling in comparison with the axisymmetric *** this purpose,a supersonic inlet has been simulated numerically via axisymmetric and 3D CFD solvers,using the steady state Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations along with the SST k-ωturbulence model,for a free-stream mach number of 2.0 and at zero degrees angle of *** grid for the 3D cases was a 14.4-degree sector,instead of a 360-degree domain one,with rotational periodic boundary condition for the side *** results show that both static and total pressure distributions match well with the experimental data for both the axisymmetric and the 3D *** the prediction of performance parameters is the main goal of simulations,it seems that the axisymmetric simulation provides adequate accuracy,and the 3D simulation one is not the best *** 3D numerical simulation results in an in-depth study on the supersonic inlets,including the shock wave-boundary layer interaction,the location of the terminal normal shock wave,and consequently the separation *** an axisymmetric supersonic inlet in an axisymmetric flow condition,3D effects are not strong enough to have a significant influence on the inlet performance for all operational ***,it seems that 3D effects play an important role in both critical and supercritical operating conditions during the steady state operation.

Prevalence and antimicrobial resistance pattern of bacterial strains isolated from patients with urinary tract infection in messalata Central Hospital, Libya

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of urinary tract infection among patients at messalata Central Hospital, Libya, to identify the causative bacteria, and to explore their resistance pattern to antimicrobials. methods: A total number of 1 153 urine samples were collected from patients, who attended daily to messalata Central Hospital, Libya, in a study extended for one year. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing and isolates typing were done using Phoenix BD(BD diagnostic). Resistance was confirmed manually using agar disk diffusion method. Results: Of the 1 153 urine samples tested, 160(13.9%) samples were positive, from which 17 different, solely Gram negative, uropathogens were identified. Escherichia coli were the most prevalent(55.6%) bacteria, followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae subspecies pneumoniae(16.3%), Proteus mirabilis(6.3%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa(5.6%), Enterobacter cloacae and Klebsiella oxytoca(2.5%, each), Citrobacter koseri and Providencia rettgeri(1.9%, each), Acinetobacter baumannii, Enterobacter aerogenes and Proteus vulgaris(1.3%, each), and Aeromonas caviae, Citrobacter freundii, Cronobacter sakazakii, Enterobacter amnigenus biogroup 2, Pseudomonas putida and Serratia marcescens(0.6%, each). The isolated uropathogens showed increased levels of resistance ranged from 10.5% to 64.5%, with an overall resistance of 28.9%. Amikacin was the most effective antimicrobial followed by Imipenem and meropenem(0%, 0.6% and 2.5% resistance, respectively); while, Cephalothin and Ampicillin were the least(80.6% and 90.0% resistance, respectively) effective. Conclusions: The obtained results emphasized the emergence of highly resistant bacteria to most of tested antimicrobials and raise the alarm for physicians to change their treatment pattern depending on antimicrobial susceptibility results.

In this work, the hydrogen storage properties of the mg-based hydrides, i.e., mgl-xmxH2 （m=Ti, V, Fe, 0≤ x ≤ 0.1）, are studied using the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker （KKR） calculation with the coherent potential approximation （CPA） . In particular, the nature and concentrations of the alloying elements and their effects are studied. moreover, the material＇s stability and hydrogen storage thermodynamic properties are discussed. In particular, we find that the stability and the temperature of desorption decrease without significantly affecting the storage capacities.
