Developing an identities-based approach to support more robust resilience and recovery in heritage planning and management

Resilience has become an increasingly important concept in the cultural heritage feld,particularly in the aftermath of the unprecedented challenges the COVID-19 global pandemic ***,on a conceptual and practical level,resilience remains closely linked to the technical conservation of built heritage,and there remains a need to develop broader approaches inclusive of cultural and socioeconomic *** article investigates the potential applicability of theoretical concepts linked to identity and identities in heritage planning to help fll these gaps and develop approaches that consider resilience and are better able to address a range of unanticipated *** frst review the literature and policy documents to defne and identify the potential for identities-based *** then examine the case of matera,an extremely fragile world heritage site in southern Italy that has been continuously inhabited for more than 8000 years and provides a relevant example of *** explore the trends and efects of globalised tourism development before the pandemic and the post pandemic emergence of more local/regional and slow tourism patterns,largely based on cultural solutions to local development challenges and knowledge *** this comparison,we analyse the potential and limitations of introducing identities-based concepts into heritage planning as a.m.re robust way to enhance resilience and prepare cities for unexpected future crises.

the Tian Shan mountains were formed in the result of the India-Eurasia collision, which leads to cre- ation of contrast high-mountain relief and world known seismic activity. the seismic catastrophes, recorded instrumentally, have occurred to the north of the Issyk-Kul Lake region. there are also known significant earthquakes with magnitude being about 7 in western and eastern parts of the mentioned lake region. Only in the south of the Issyk-Kul depression the strong earthquakes recorded by the seismic network were not known. Our recent study in the south of the lssyk-Kul Lake region has revealed numerous active tectonic structures related to South Issyk-I（ul Fault： faults and folds, responsible for strong earthquakes＇ occurrence. these were historical and paleoseismic defornlations which led to changes in relief： fault scarps and significant rockslides. We have also found spectacular deformations in archeological monuments. All these deformations testify the location of epicentral areas of two strong historic （about llth and 16th （？） centuries AD） and paleoearthquakes （Holocene and Late Pleistocene）. magnitude of ancient seismic events, according to parameters of the revealed fault scarps, were ms 〉 7 and seismic intensity I 〉 IX. All revealed seismic deformations are located to adyrs （piedmonts） of the Terskey Ala-Too range bordered of the lssyk-Kul Lake depression in the south. their formation is described by the model of a fault which rupture plane becomes shallower southward. this model is complicated by the presence of reverse thrusts. Here, we should a.m.t the existence of a single zone of South lssyk-Kul Fault which is a long-lived feature which separates the structures with the different regime of movements during the Neotectonic time. All obtained data led us to a conclusion of significant underestimation of the seismic hazard in southern lssyk-Kul Lake region.

For our KDP crystal orientation, various tbermo-optic （TO） and relevant temperature-dependence param- eters are defined, presented, and studied in the framework of a transverse and a longitudinal electro-optic （EO） modulation systems. this study is based on the concept of the so-called opto-electrical bias （~） ap- plied to the system. For both of the above EO-modulation systems, a set of original equations is extracted and investigated with regard to each of the more important TO or temperature coefficients. Using these equations, for these parameters the role of the transverse configuration is examined in comparison with its corresponding longitudinal configuration. A comparison is done with other orientation of the same KDP crystal.

In this study, a coupled regional air quality modeling system is applied to investigate the time spatial variations in airborne particulate matters （Pm10）, originating from mentougou to Beijing municipal area in the period of April 1-7, 2004, and the influences of complex terrain and meteorological conditions upon boundary layer structure and Pm10 concentration distributions. An intercomparison of the performance with CALPUFF against the observed data is presented and an examination of scatter plots is provided. the statistics show that the correlation coefficient and STD between the modeled and observed data are 0.86 and 0.03, respectively. Analysis of model results illustrates that the pollutants emitted from mentougou can be transported to Beijing municipal area along certain transport pathways, and Pm10 concentration distributions show heterogeneity characteristics. Contributions of the mentougou sources to the Pm10 concentrations in Beijing municipal area are up to 0.1-15 μg/m^3.

the van Genuchten (vG) function is often used to describe the soil water retention curve (SWRC) of unsaturated soils and fractured rock. the objective of this study was to develop a.m.thod to determine the vG model parameter m from the fractal dimension. We compared two approaches previously proposed by van Genuchten and Lenhard et al. for estimating m from the pore size distribution index of the Brooks and Corey (BC) model. In both approaches we used a relationship between the pore size distribution index of the BC model and the fractal dimension of the SWRC. A dataset containing 75 samples from the UNSODA unsaturated soil hydraulic database was used to evaluate the two approaches. the statistical parameters showed that the approach by Lenhard et al. provided better estimates of the parameter m. Another dataset containing 72 samples from the literature was used to validate Lenhard's approach in which the SWRC fractal dimension was estimated from the clay content. the estimated SWRC of the second dataset was compared with those obtained with the Rosetta.m.del using sand, silt, and clay contents. Root mean square error values of the proposed fractal approach and Rosetta were 0.081 and 0.136, respectively, indicating that the proposed fractal approach performed better than the Rosetta.m.del.

Objective:Simple tests like direct smear of the acid fast bacilli(AFB) and mycobacterium culture could assist the diagnosis of *** study is a.m.d at reviewing the outcome of smears,culture results and contamination rate among specimens requested for AFB smear and mycobacterium ***:Retrospective laboratory data analysis requesting for mycobacterium culture from January 2005 till December 2006 was done in a tertiary teaching hospital of Universiti Sains malaysia,Kubang Kerian,Kelantan,***: Four hundred and sixty seven(36.6%) isolates grew from 1 277 *** these isolates,314 (67.2%) grew mycobacterium tuberculosis,23(4.9%) grew mycobacterium other than tuberculosis and 38 (8.1%) grew *** the *** cultures,165(52.5%) had growth of more than 100 confluent colonies,whereas 39 cultures(12.4%) had growth of less than 19 *** smear for AFB among smear positive cases showed presence of more than 50 bacilli/line in 231(49.5%) cases and smear negative cases accounted for 63(13.5%).Among smear positive cases,291(94.5%) cultures grew mycobacterium species and another 17(5.5%) cultures grew *** smear negative cases,32(62.7%) cultures grew mycobacterium species and 19(37.3%) cultures grew ***:the results from data analysis of the mycobacterium cultures should be critically utilized in order to review the laboratory performance and to improve its services in the *** of the data is also useful to the a.m.nistrators of the hospital in terms of estimating the risk of occupational hazard faced by the health care workers.

Slow Pyrolysis of Sugarcane Bagasse for the Production of Char and the Potential of Its By-Product for Wood Protection

Sugarcane bagasse was pyrolyzed using a laboratory fixed bed reactor to produce char and its by-product(pyrolysis liquid).the pyrolysis experiments were carried out using different temperatures(400℃ and 500℃),heating rate(1℃/min and 10℃/min),and holding time(30 min and 60 min).Char was characterized according to its thermal properties,while the pyrolysis liquid was tested for its anti-fungal and anti-termite *** temperature and heating rate had a significant influence on the char properties and the yield of char and pyrolysis liquid,where a high-quality char and high yield of pyrolysis liquid can be obtained at a temperature of 500℃ and a heating rate of 10℃/*** yield of char and pyrolysis liquid was 28.97%and 55.46%,*** principal compounds of pyrolysis liquid were water,acetic acid,glycolaldehyde,1-hydroxy-2-propanone,methanol,formic acid,levoglucosan,furfural,followed by some phenol compounds and guaiacol *** liquid at a concentration of 0.20%and 0.25%(v/v)caused a 100%inhibition of Coniophora puteana and Trametes versicolor,respectively,when performing inhibition growth tests in Petri *** paper treated with 10%of pyrolysis liquid caused 100%of termite mortality,while only 5.65%–7.03%of the treated filter papers consumed by termites at such *** liquid is potentially effective to be used in the formulation of wood protection against fungi and termites.

Drying of suspensions and solutions on inert particle surface in mechanically spouted bed dryer

To eliminate some disadvantages of the conventional spouted bed dryers the mechanically spouted bed （mSB） system was developed. this dryer type is convenient to use inert particles providing an increased surface area for drying of materials of high-moisture content and heat sensitive materials. On three different drying tasks are demonstrated the experimental optimization of process parameters to obtain products of demanded quality. the main object was at drying of AIO（OH） suspension to preserve the particle size under 2.5μm and to obtain product with a.m.isture content of about 0.05 kg/kg （d.b.）. For this reason a very thin particle coating and intensive abrasion had to be assured. At drying of tomato concentrates the thermoplasticity makes the process very difficult. To jump over the deliquescent and sticky state developed at the critical temperature-moisture content values a very short drying time （8-10 s） must be provided. the third task was to form powder-like product from bovine serum albumin （BSA） solution having very low solid content （2-4%）. the selected process parameters given in this paper resulted in a.m.an particle size of less than 20 μm while the soluble oreserved orotein content was higher than 90%.

the paper comprises new analytical data on the nature and occurrence of gold in solid pyrobitumen,closely associated with the main gold-bearing sulfide arsenic ores of the Bakyrchik gold deposit(Kazakhstan),related to post-collisional ma.m.tic-hydrothermal *** mineralization of the deposit occurs mainly in the form of an“invisible”type of gold in the structures of arsenian pyrite and arsenopyrite,and the form of gold-organic compounds of pyrobitumen in carbonaceous-terrigenous sequences of Carboniferous *** and electron microscopic analysis,Raman and FT-Infrared analysis,mineralogical and three-step sequential extraction analysis(NH2OHHCl,H2O2,HNO3?HCl)has been carried out using 9 ore samples(from 3 different types of ores)for a comprehensive study of pyrobitumen and sulfide arsenic ores focusing mainly on organic *** sequentially extracted precious metal content of pyrobitumen reaches up to 7 ppm gold and other metals like Ag 4 ppm,Pt 31 ppb,and Pd 26 ppb,forming metal–organic compounds,while arsenic sulfide minerals incorporate 11 ppm gold,39 ppm Ag,0.49 ppm *** enrichment of gold associating with organic matter and sulfide ore minerals was confirmed in this *** matter was active in the migration of gold and the capture of gold by ***,the reductive organic matter agent released gold,most likely for the sulfide arsenic ore *** was a decisive factor in the concentration,transportation,and preservation of gold in the deposit.
