Epidemio-Clinical Characteristics of Perinatal Anoxia and Immediate Outcome of Patients at Hospital Teaching Gabriel Toure of Bamako

Introduction: Neonatal asphyxia (NA) is one of the most likely causes of neuro-developmental abnormalities in children. In Mali it is responsible for half of the early deaths and the third of neonatal mortality. Updated data would help understand and improve intervention strategies to reduce mortality. Objective: It is the study of epidemiological and clinical characteristics, the immediate outcome and the factors associated with newborn (NB) mortality with NA. Material and Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study from June 27th to September 3rd 2016 about the NBs admitted for NA in the Hospital Teaching Gabriel Touré of Bamako. The clinical and biological data including the prognosis were collected from the health records of women, the liaison sheets and the medical file. The analysis was done using the software Epi info version 3.5.1. Results: 76 NBs were included which represented 23.45% of hospitalizations. The majority (89.5%, n = 68) were admitted to less than 24 hours of life for NA grade III according to the Sarnat classification (43.4%, n = 33). The average age of mothers was 24.17 ± 5.5 years. Almost half (41.3%, n = 31) were primigravida. The most common obstetrical event was dystocia (64.5%, n = 49). The prognosis was poor in grade III anoxia in our patients (56%) of deaths. Conclusion: The périnatal anoxia (PA) is a major health issue in Mali because of its frequency and severity. Monitoring of pregnancies, delivery assisted by skillful and qualified personnel, mastery of neonatal resuscitation techniques are good means of prevention.

Non-isothermal Decomposition Mechanism and Kinetics of LiClO_4 in Nitrogen

The non-isothermal decomposition kinetics of LiClO4 in flow N2 atmosphere was studied. TG-DTA curves show that the decomposition proceeded through two well-defined steps below 900℃, and the mass loss was in agreement with the theoretical value. XRD profile demonstrates that the product of the thermal decomposition at 500℃ is LiCI. For the decomposition kinetics study, the activation energies calculated with the Friedman method were considered as the initial values for non-linear regression and were used for verifying the correctness of the fired models. The decomposition process was fitted by a two-step consecutive reaction： extended Prout-Tompkins equation[Bna, f（α） is （1-α）^nα^α] followed by a lth order reaction（F1）. The activation energies were （215.6±0.2） and （251.6±3.6） kJ/mol, respectively. The exponentials n and a for Bna reaction were （0.25±0.05） and （0.795±0.005）, respectively. The reaction types and activation energies were in agreement with those obtained from the isothermal method, but the exponentials were optimized for better firing and prediction.

Capability of Visible-Near Infrared Spectroscopy in Estimating Soils Carbon, Potassium and Phosphorus

The spectroscopy technique has many advantages over conventional analytical methods since it is fast and easy to implement and with no use of chemical extractants. The objective of this study is to quantify soil total Carbon (C), available Phosphorus (P) and exchangeable potassium (K) using VIS-NIR reflectance spectroscopy. A total of 877 soils samples were collected in various agricultural fields in Mali. Multivariate analysis was applied to the recorded soils spectra to estimate the soil chemical properties. Results reveal the over performance of the Principal Component Regression (PCR) compared to the Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR). For coefficient of determination (R2), PLSR accounts for 0.29, 0.42 and 0.57;while the PCR gave 0.17, 0.34 and 0.50, respectively for C, P and K. Nevertheless, this study demonstrates the potential of the VIS-NIR reflectance spectroscopy in analyzing the soils chemical properties.

Kinetics of the Thermal Decomposition of Magnesium Salicylate Powder in Air

Simultaneous thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis （TG-DTA） was used to study the kinetics and the degradation of magnesium salicylate（ C14H10MgO6 ） in air. The results show that the decomposition proceeds through two steps. The kinetics of the first decomposition step was studied. The activation energies were calculated by using the Friedman and Flynn Wall Ozawa（FWO） methods, and the most probable kinetic model function was estimated using the multiple linear regression method. The values of the correlated kinetic parameters for the first decomposition step are E = 152.97 kJ/mol, lg（A/S^-1 ） = 10. 78, f（α） = （ 1 - α）^n（ 1 ＋Kcatα）, n =0. 691, and Kcat = 1. 3048.

本文以中国在几内亚矿业领域的投资问题为重点探讨了中非关系。在查阅现有文献的基础上,分析并强调了不同学者提出的中国在几内亚的矿业部门进行重点投资的原因。这项研究既考察了中国在几内亚投资的历史因素,也强调了当前的发展状况,同时,还着重探讨了中国对几内亚矿业投资产生的影响,尤其是对几内亚的社会和经济发展产生的影响。此外,本文进一步研究了几内亚人对于中国投资的看法。研究发现,在几内亚矿业投资的大多数中国公司都是国有企业,不但在金融方面得到了本国政府的全力支持,而且在几内亚采矿合同项目的讨论和谈判中提供帮助。研究进一步指出,铝土矿是中国企业在几内亚开采的主要矿物,其次是铁矿石和其他矿物。通过分析现有的文献后得出结论,中国在几内亚的采矿业投资极大地促进了几内亚的经济和社会发展。此外,我们的研究结论是,中国在非洲尤其是几内亚的投资很大程度上是受几内亚当局的邀请,其在几内亚的经济和贸易利益没有任何隐藏的帝国和殖民地倾向。尽管几内亚人有一些抱怨,但他们对中国投资的看法整体而言是积极的。研究还发现,中国企业已经充分认识到这些问题并将努力对其加以解决。

Soybean is a crop with a long cultivation history that occupies an important position in agricultural *** mosaic virus disease(SMV)has caused a rapid decline in soybean yields,causing huge losses to the soybean industry,wherefrom its early detec-tion is particularly *** study proposes a new classification method for the early SMV,dividing its severity into grades 0,1 and *** the case of a small number of experi-mental samples of soybeans,this study proposes a combined convolutional neural network and support vector machine(CNN-SVM)method for the early detection of ***-tal results showed that the accuracy of the training set of the CNN-SVM model reached 96.67%,and the accuracy rate of the test set reached 94.17%.The experiment proved the feasibility of using the proposed CNN-SVM model to classify early SMV under the new clas-sification method,and provided a new direction for early SMV detection based on hyper-spectral images.

Background :Non-Hodgkin lymphomas are the first childhood cancer in sub-Saharan Africa. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess non-Hodgkin lymphomas cases in our setting. Methodology: A retrospective and descriptive study carried out in the pediatric oncology unit of the Gabriel Touré Teaching Hospital Bamako over 10 years from 1st January 2005 to 31th December 2015. Results: We exploited 274 (21.6%) cases of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma out of 1295 cancer cases registered, the age group 6 - 10 years was the most represented (46.4%);the male sex was predominant with a sex-ratio of 1.8;digestive signs were the most common signs of discovery (44.2%) followed by maxillary swelling (42.7%);the majority of patients (52.9%) consulted between 1 and 3 months after the onset of signs;the malnutrition rate was 39.8%, of which 24.1% were severe cases and 15.7% were moderate rate. Abdominal localization was the most common (43.1%) followed by maxillofacial localization (33.9%). Almost all were Burkitt type cytology (92.7%), the majority (73.4%) were in Murphy stage III. Almost all (96%) had received chemotherapy and the modified LMB 01 protocol was widely used (62.4%). The majority of patients (85%) were chemosensitive at day 7 or after the third cyclophosphamide injection but at the end of induction only 31% were in complete remission. Gastrointestinal toxicity was the most common (37.13%) followed by hematologic toxicity 35.09 %;9.12 % of patients were lost of follow-up and 22.26% died. Tumor progression was the most common cause of death (60.66%) followed by infection (21.31%). Conclusion: In light of these findings, the late diagnosis and the poor management of NHL, as well as the limited ability to primarily treat metabolic complications, explain the high case-fatality rate, hence the important role of early diagnosis and treatment multidisciplinary.

The rheological phase synthesis technique is a convenient, inexpensive and an effective method of materials in high yield. In this paper, magnesium salicylate was synthesized by theological phase reaction method. The composition of complex was confirmed by elemental analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, FT-IR , differential thermal analysis and thermal analysis(TG-DTA).The principal infrared absorption peaks were assigned for the region *** crystal structure of complex belongs in monoclinic system with a =17.3677A;b =3.3808A;c =13.0945A;β=106.067°;V =738.83A3. The gas phase products of thermal decomposition were characterized by gas chromatography and mass spectrography. The thermal decomposition of Mg(Hsal)2 proceeded in two stages: (HOC6H4CO2)2Mg→(OC6H4COO)Mg→MgO ,C ,C6H5OH , dibenzofuran, xanthene, xanthenone, fluorenone, 1,2-dibenzopyrone, and so on. The free radical reaction mechanism of magnesium salicylate in the thermal decompsition process was proposed.

Assessment of the Microbiological Quality of Drinking Water in Light of Water Quality in the Pelengana Commune of Segou Region

This study focused to determine the bacteriological quality of different commonly used water sources, including boreholes, hand pumps, surface water, household containers, dug well and cement reservoirs in Pelengana commune, in Mali with special reference to the internally displaced people camps. Four hundred and eight water samples were collected from different sites and sources, from July 2016 to June 2017. Water samples were examined for total coliform, fecal coliform and fecal enterococci counts using the most probable number method. Also, samples were investigated for the presence of enteric bacteria isolated, namely Escherichia coli, Enterococcus fecalis, Bacillus, Citrobacter and Enterobacter. Results revealed that the three indicators bacteria (Total Coliform (48.7%), Fecal Coliform (100%), and Fecal enterococci (37.01%)) were found above permissible limit for drinking water. The highest number of the indicators bacteria found was 1800 TC/100ml water. Enteric bacteria isolated were Escherichia coli (25.7%), Enterococcus fecalis (21.91%), Bacillus (16.72%), Enterobacter (4.56%) and Citrobacter (3.91%). The most contaminated water source was surface water (15.28%) followed by household containers (13.65%), boreholes (8.75%), cement reservoirs (7.47%), hand pumps (5.31%) and dug wells (2.7%). These findings illustrate that contamination varied with seasons, and the highest level was observed in rainy season (30.02%) compared to the dry season (23.14%). All sources of water in the study sites were contaminated. It is suggested that the outright prevention of surface water consumption should be employed and monitoring of the quality of water resources is needed.
