Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS)is a rare disease consisting of obstruction of the hepatic venous outflow tract,which can occur at any level ranging from small hepatic veins to the inferior vena cava(1-4).BCS can result from intravascular thrombosis or membranous obstruction of the hepatic venous outflow tract,or,less commonly,due to external compression from tumors,nodules,abscesses,cysts,or other intrahepatic lesions(1-3).

Candida endocarditis is extremely rare in term neonates,and gall bladder involvement due to candidemia has never been reported amongst neonates and infants.A term,appropriate for gestational age neonate developed Candida tropicalis blood stream infection in second week of *** was started on conventional amphotericin ***,he failed to show any clinical improvement,and candidemia keep on *** sanctuary sites screening revealed multiple echogenic masses in heart(vegetations) and gall *** changing the treatment to liposomal amphotericin B and fluconazole,he recovered clinically,echogenic masses in gall bladder disappeared,and intracardiac vegetations decreased in size.

Storm-time changes of main plasma parameters in the auroral ionosphere are analyzed for two intense storms occurring on May 15, 1997 and Sept. 25, 1998, with emphasis on their relationship to the solar wind dynamic pressure and the IMFB z component. Strong hard particle precipitation occurred in the initial phase for both storms, associated with high solar wind dynamical pressure. During the recovery phase of the storms, some strong particle precipitation was neither concerned with high solar wind pressure nor southward IMFB z. Severe negative storm effects depicted by electron density depletion appeared in theF-region during the main and recovery phase of both storms, caused by intensive electric field-related strong Joule/frictional heating when IMF was largely southward. The ion temperature behaved similarly inE-andF-region, but the electron temperature did quite different, with a strong increase in the lowerE-region relating to plasma instability excited by strong electric field and a slight decrease in theF-region probably concerning with a cooling process. The field-aligned ion velocity was high and apparently anticorrelated with the northward component of the ion convection velocity.

Determination of ballistic performance of an armor solution is a complicated task and evolved significantly with the application of finite element methods(FEM) in this research *** traditional armor design studies performed with FEM requires sophisticated procedures and intensive computational effort,therefore simpler and accurate numerical approaches are always worthwhile to decrease armor development *** study aims to apply a hybrid method using FEM simulation and artificial neural network(ANN) analysis to approximate ballistic limit thickness for armor *** achieve this objective,a predictive model based on the artificial neural networks is developed to determine ballistic resistance of high hardness armor steels against 7.62 mm armor piercing *** this methodology,the FEM simulations are used to create training cases for Multilayer Perceptron(MLP) three layer *** order to validate FE simulation methodology,ballistic shot tests on 20 mm thickness target were performed according to standard Stanag ***,the successfully trained ANN(s) is used to predict the ballistic limit thickness of 500 HB high hardness steel *** show that even with limited number of data,FEM-ANN approach can be used to predict ballistic penetration depth with adequate accuracy.

Plants produce a rich diversity of biological forms,and the diversity of leaves is especially *** of leaf morphogenesis have been studied in the past two decades,with a growing focus on the interactive roles of mechanics in recent *** of plant organs involves feedback by mechanical stress:growth induces stress,and stress affects growth and *** much attention has been given to potential stress-sensing mechanisms and cellular responses,the mechanical principles guiding morphogenesis have not been well *** we synthesize the overarching roles of mechanics and mechanical stress in multilevel and multiple stages of leaf morphogenesis,encompassing leaf primordium initiation,phyllotaxis and venation patterning,and the establishment of complex mature leaf ***,the roles of mechanics at multiscale levels,from subcellular cytoskeletal molecules to single cells to tissues at the organ scale,are *** highlighting the role of mechanical buckling in the formation of three-dimensional leaf shapes,this review integrates the perspectives of mechanics and biology to provide broader insights into the mechanobiology of leaf morphogenesis.
