This article documents the results of an empirical investigation on the complex interplay between diverse coping mechanisms and the socioeconomic asset profiles of coastal households at risk. Focusing on household-level perceptions and responses to cyclone hazards, a case study was carried out in a poor area in Bangladesh that is prone to natural hazards. We developed and tested our own analytical models based on the asset approach. We conducted a face-to-face household survey in southwestern coastal Bangladesh, in the koyra sub-district, in late *** asked 360 households affected by the may 2009 tropical Cyclone Aila about their hazard perceptions, preparedness, coping practices, and socioeconomic assets. The results suggest that the majority of households at risk perceive an increasing trend of different climate hazards,with a distinct dominance of tropical cyclones, storm surges, and flash floods in the study area, which resulted in a yearly average economic damage of USD 144 for each household in the first year after Aila. However, such damage is significantly and inversely correlated with the number of adopted coping practices. Significant and systematic differences exist between upstream and downstream households in the study area with respect to hazard perception, hazard induced damages, asset accessibility,and adopted diversified coping practices. The empirical findings suggest that the degree of adoption of coping practices depends primarily on elements of socioeconomic asset profile and the duration of the consequences of cyclone hazards. Disaster preparedness training seems to improve at-risk households' degree of information access and eventually leads them to adopt more coping practices to reduce adverse impacts of climate hazards. Area-specific practical modules on coping practices should be incorporated in curricula of disaster preparedness training to make people at risk more resilient to hazard shocks.

玉米南方锈病是由多堆柄锈菌（Puccinia polysora Underw.）引起的真菌性气传病害,在世界各地的热带和亚热带地区均有发生。近几年,随着全球气候的变化,玉米南方锈病在我国海南省三亚市的发生日趋严重。据统计,自2013年至2016年间,三亚南繁基地的玉米种植面积持续增加,从368.2 hm增至729.3 hm,而玉米南方锈病的发生面积也相应地从玉米种植总面积的60%增至70%,严重威胁南繁玉米的制种、育种质量以及生产安全。针对南繁基地不同玉米品种上玉米南方锈病的发生情况调查,了解南繁基地玉米南方锈病发展流行规律,可为建立玉米南方锈病绿色防控体系提供依据。为此,本调查针对中国农业大学南繁基地调查玉米南方锈病病情指数,共36个玉米田块,涉及ZD958、金百甜15、先玉335这3种玉米品种。调查方法采用五点取样法,即每个田块选取5个1m×1m的正方形小块,每个小方块调查5株。调查结果显示,2024年3月初中国农业大学南繁基地ZD958的病情指数为10.74,3月中旬发展为25.58;3月初金百甜15的病情指数为15.62,3月中旬发展为24.11;先玉335的病情指数为12.04,3月中旬发展为16.96。其中先玉335的病情指数最低。在0.05的置信水平下,3月中旬的先玉335的病情指数与ZD958及金百甜15有显著差异,ZD958及金百甜15之间无明显差异。据此结果推测,在这3种品种中,先玉335对玉米南方锈病的抗性水平较高。

In this paper we formulate a bi-criteria search strategy of a heuristic learning algorithm for solving multiple resource-constrained project scheduling problems. The heuristic solves problems in two phases. In the pre-processing phase, the algorithm estimates distance between a state and the goal state and measures complexity of problem instances. In the search phase, the algorithm uses estimates of the pre-processing phase to further estimate distances to the goal state. The search continues in a stepwise generation of a series of intermediate states through search path evaluation process with backtracking. Developments of intermediate states are exclusively based on a bi-criteria new state selection technique where we consider resource utilization and duration estimate to the goal state. We also propose a variable weighting technique based on initial problem complexity measures. Introducing this technique allows the algorithm to efficiently solve complex project scheduling problems. A numerical example illustrates the algorithm and performance is evaluated by extensive experimentation with various problem parameters. Computational results indicate significance of the algorithm in terms of solution quality and computational performance.

metal complexes of ciprofloxacin were synthesized to study the effect of the drug on the metals present in the body or metals co-administered as multivitamin therapy. These complexes were then characterized by IR, UV, 1 H NmR, CHN and AA analyses. It was found that the metals coordinated through the β-keto carboxylic group, forming four coordinated complexes having square planar geometry. The effect of the antibacterial activity of these complexes with respect to parent drug was also studied against 14 different Gram + ve and Gram – ve organisms by the disk susceptibility technique. Some complexes showed improve activity as compared with the stated drug.

The present work documented two snapper species, Lutjanus fulvus Forster, 1801 and Lutjanus erythropterus Bloch, 1790, recently collected from the Saint martin's Island, Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh, during a survey on coral associated fishes of Bangladesh from July 2017 to September 2018. These two species were identified with morphological characteristics and by analyzing partial mitochondrial COI sequences. The document also included an updated checklist of snappers available in Bangladesh.

The aggregation behavior of the mixture of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride(CTAC), a cationic surfactant, and moxifloxacin hydrochloride(mFH), a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic drug, has been studied using the conductivity technique in aqueous and alcoholic(EtOH, 1-PrOH, and 2-BuOH)media. The study was performed at several temperatures between 298.15 and 323.15 k at 5 k *** assembly has been characterized by evaluating the micellar parameters, such as the critical micelle concentration(CmC) and the counter ion binding(β), of the CTAC + mFH mixture. The values of the CmC for the assembly of the CTAC + mFH mixture were reliant on the composition of alcohols in the mixed solvents and the temperature. The CmC values of the CTAC + mFH mixture increased with increasing temperature;that is, assembly was delayed by increased temperature. The micellization of the CTAC + mFH mixed system was delayed in alcoholic media. The observed-ΔG0mvalues for the association of the CTAC + mFH mixed system demonstrated a spontaneous aggregation process under all study *** on the-ΔH^(0)_(m) and +ΔS^(0)_(m) values, the association of the CTAC + mFH mixture is exothermic and the interaction forces acting between the CTAC and mFH species are hydrophobic, ion–dipole, and electrostatic interactions. The transfer properties and enthalpy–entropy compensation were also assessed and described comprehensively.
