Tissue-specific trace elements concentration and human health risk assessment in three marine fish species from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada coasts

Purpose The current study was aimed to evaluate the bioaccumulation of elements(As,Cd,Cu,Fe,Mn,Se and Zn)in the gills,liver and muscle of three distinct marine fish species,namely Nemipterus japonicas,Upeneus vittatus and Pampus argenteus species were collected from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada coastal *** The fish tissues were analyzed for trace metals using energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence(EDXRF).To ensure the quality control,reliability of the experimental validation,two certified reference materials(CRMs)procured from National Institute of Standards and Testing(NIST SRM 1577c-Bovine Liver)and European Commission-Joint Research Centre,Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements(ERMBB422-Fish muscle)were analyzed using *** The evaluated estimated daily intake(EDI)values for each metal are below the reference dose levels established by World Health Organisation(WHO).The target hazard quotient(THQ)values of both the locations of the present study are lower than one(1)showing the presence of health *** cancer risk(CR)factor value for arsenic was below the acceptable lifetime carcinogenic risk(10^(–5)).The levels of heavy metals varied significantly among three fish species and *** mean concentrations of As,Cd,Cu,Fe,Mn,Se and Zn were slightly higher than the Ministry of Agriculture,Fisheries and Food(MAFF),Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO),Turkish food codex and Brazilian Legislation standard *** findings of this study revealed that muscles possessed the lowest concentrations mostly of all the metals when compared with liver and *** The study concluded that consumption of the muscle tissue may not pose severe health risk to human health but should be consumed moderately to prevent bioaccumulation of the metals especially As.

Cutting edge preparation of microdrills by shear thickening polishing for improved hole quality in electronic PCBs

Printed circuit boards(PCBs)are representative composite materials,and their high-quality drilling machining remains a persistent challenge in the *** finishing of the cutting edge of a microdrill is crucial to drill performance in machining fine-quality holes with a prolonged tool *** miniature size involving submicron scale geometric dimensions,a complex flute shape,and low fracture toughness makes the cutting edge of microdrills susceptible to breakage and has been the primary limiting factor in edge preparation for *** this study,a newly developed cutting edge preparation method for microdrills was tested experimentally on electronic printed circuit *** proposed method,namely,shear thickening polishing,limited the cutting edge burrs and chipping on the cutting edge,and this in turn transformed the cutting edge’s radius from being sharp to ***,the edge–edge radius could be regulated by adjusting the processing *** drilling experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of different cutting edge radii on wear,hole position accuracy,nail head value,and hole wall *** proposed approach showed 20%enhancement in hole position accuracy,33%reduction in the nail head value,and 19%reduction in hole wall roughness compared with the original ***,a threshold is needed;without it,excessive shear thickening polishing will result in a blunt edge,which may accelerate the wear of the *** was identified as the primary factor that reduced hole *** study indicates that in printed circuit board machining,microdrills should effectively eliminate grinding defects and maintain the sharpness of the cutting edge as much as possible to obtain excellent drilling ***,shear thickening polishing is a promising method for cutting edge preparation of *** research and optimization can lead to additional improvements in microdrill performance and contribute to the conti

Plant polyphenols have recently gained attention in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries due to their various therapeutic ***,the polyphenols are prone to oxidation,unstable towards heat,light,pH and their unpleasant taste also limits their *** usage of encapsulated polyphenols can alleviate these drawbacks and hence,efficient encapsulation methods have been *** present study focused on the synthesis of microspheres of Piper betle polyphenols by extrusion method using alginate and assesses the impact of alginate encapsulation on stability,bioavailability and therapeutic *** of Piper betle were studied for their stability,yield,size,characterized by using SEM for surface morphology and FTIR and evaluated for their bioavailability using in vitro simulated gastrointestinal digestion and therapeutic properties for a period of 24 *** results showed that encapsulation was successful using extrusion technique and the stability was improved as it protected the polyphenols and antioxidant from degradation for a period of 24 *** addition,bioavailability was also increased in small intestine and the antioxidant and antidiabetic properties were better retained after ***,this study showed that encapsulation of polyphenols of Piper betle leaves with alginate improved stability and can be a promising technique for food supplementation/nutraceutical with natural antioxidants.

There is growing interest in power quality issues due to wider developments in power delivery *** order to maintain good power quality,it is necessary to detect and monitor power quality *** power quality monitoring requires storing large amount of data for *** rapid increase in the size of databases has demanded new technique such as data mining to assist in the analysis and understanding of the *** paper presents the classification of power quality problems such as voltage sag,swell,interruption and unbalance using data mining algorithms:J48,Random Tree and Random Forest decision *** algorithms are implemented on two sets of voltage data using WEKA *** numeric attributes in first data set include 3-phase RMS voltages at the point of common *** second data set,three more numeric attributes such as minimum,maximum and average voltages,are added along with 3-phase RMS *** performance of the algorithms is evaluated in both the cases to determine the best classification algorithm,and the effect of addition of the three attributes in the second case is studied,which depicts the advantages in terms of classification accuracy and training time of the decision trees.

Seismic performance of precast shear wall-slab connection under cyclic loading: experimental test vs. numerical analysis

The structural behaviour of precast shear wall-diaphragm connection was compared with the monolithic connection under seismic *** monolithic connection was made by using U-bars connecting shear wall and slab,and the precast connection was made by using dowel bars in two ***,U-shaped dowel bars from the precast shear wall lower panel and precast slab were connected by the longitudinal reinforcement,and screed concreting was done above the precast ***,the shear wall upper panel was connected using the dowel bar protruding from the shear wall lower *** gap between the dowel bars and the duct was filled with non-shrink *** specimens were subjected to reverse cyclic loading at the ends of the *** study also aimed to develop a 3-D numerical model using ABAQUS *** non-linear properties of concrete were defined by using the concrete damaged plasticity(CDP)model to analyse the response of the *** precast dowel connection between the shear wall and slab showed superior performance concerning ductility,strength,stiffness and energy *** developed finite element model exactly predicted the behaviour of connections as similar to that of experimental testing in the *** average difference between the results from finite element analysis and experimental testing was less than 20%.The results point to the conclusion that the shear resistance is provided by the dowel bars and the stiffness of the precast specimen is due to the diaphragm action of the precast *** damage parameter and the interaction between structural members play a crucial role in the modelling of precast connections.

Dear Editor,Around a billion individuals worldwide have *** these,95%have essential hypertension,a type of undiagnosed hypertension.1 The regulation of blood pressure(BP)involves numerous signaling *** them,the Renin Angiotensin System is well *** these pathways are regulated by modulation of renal salt handling and tone of vascular smooth muscle(VSM)*** of these mechanisms can become faulty and alter the resistance arteries’VSM tone,which can elevate ***,since the exact origin of PH and its pathophysiology are unknown,less effective,and generic treatments are used.2 The fact that more than 50%of hypertension patients in the USA do not have their BP under good control serves as an illustration of *** treatment resistance affects an additional 5 million people and is defined as the inability to regulate BP despite the use of at least three antihypertensive drugs in combination.

Antioxidant and cytotoxic effects of hexane extract of Morinda pubescens leaves in human liver cancer cell line

Objective:To evaluate the antioxidant and cytotoxic effects of hexane extract of Morinda pubescens leaves and to find the primary bioactive compound responsible for antioxidant and cytotoxic ***:The individual compounds were isolated using column chromatography and were characterized by spectroscopic *** antioxidant activity was evaluated for all individual isolated compounds by DPPH method using L-Ascorbic acid as standard and cytotoxicity was assessed for the extract and the hyoscyamine by MTT assay, caspase test and RT-PCR ***:The antioxidant activity of the isolated compounds and the extract increased as the concentration *** of the isolated compound hyoscyamine showed the high antioxidant *** extract and the hyoscyamine dose-dependently decreased the cell viability in HepG2 *** induced caspase-3 mediated apoptosis. Up regulation of p53 gene expression provides cue for apoptotic activity of hyoscyamine. Conclusions:The results indicate that hexane extract possessed potent antioxidant and cytotoxic activity and hyoscyamine is the principal bioactive compound in hexane extract.

Effect of pellet die diameter on density and durability of pellets made from high moisture woody and herbaceous biomass

Densified products produced from pellet mill are commercially used as a commodity type product for energy applications that are transported nationally and *** quality of the pelletized biomass produced depends on the process variables such as die diameter,length to diameter(L/D)ratio,die speed,preheating,and steam conditioning;and feedstock variables such as feedstock type,moisture content,and particle size and *** the present study,pelleting tests were conducted with both woody(i.e.,lodgepole pine and pinyon-juniper)and herbaceous(i.e.,corn stover,wheat straw,and energy sorghum)biomass.A high level of feedstock moisture content of 33%(w.b.)was selected,while the die speed and preheating temperature process variables were kept at 60 Hz(380 rpm)and 70*** indicated that during the pelleting and cooling process,an approximate 10–13%(w.b.)moisture loss in both the woody and herbaceous biomass was *** high moisture pellets produced were further dried in a laboratory oven at 70C for three hours to reduce the moisture content of the pellets to1133,>580,>620 kg/m3)and the woody biomass lodgepole pine(e.g.,>1037,>568,>641 kg/m3),*** the case of durability for the 8 mm diameter pellets,wheat straw and corn stover recorded a maximum of about 96%,respectively,while the lodgepole pine and pinion juniper recorded a maximum of>96%,respectively.

Penile prosthesis implantation in a transsexual neophallus

Reconstruction surgery for a female to male transsexual usually involves mastectomy, hysterectomy and creating anaesthetically appealing neophallus. We have successfiflly inserted an inflatable prosthesis using the AMS CX prosthesisin a 45 year old transsexual, who had a large bulky neophallus constructed from the anterior abdominal subcutaneousfat, about 9 years ago. The single cylinder CX prosthesis was well anchored to the symphysis pubis using a dacronwindsock tubing, the activation pump was placed in the dependent pouch of the right labium and the reservior in theusual perivesical space. The patient subsequently had debulking procedure using liposuction to create a more aestheticand functional phallus. To date, the inflatable neophallus prosthesis is functioning well.
