Titanium dioxide nanoparticles （TiO2 NPs） are among the most widely manufactured nanomaterials on a global scale. However, prudent and vigilant surveillance, incumbent upon the scientific community with the advent of new technologies, has revealed potentially undesirable effects of TiO2 NPs on biological systems and the natural environment during their application and discharge. Such effects are likely best evaluated by first assessing the fate of the TiO2 NPs in natural environments. In this study, the effects of terrestrial humic acid （HA） and tannic acid （TA）, two major members of the collective： dissolved organic matter （DOM）, on the cytotoxicity of TiO2 NPs to Escherichia coli were investigated in the presence and absence of natural sunlight. Qualitative （transmission electron microscopy （TEM）） and quantitative （LCso） analyses were employed in this study. In addition, the production of reactive oxygen species （ROS） in the form of .OH was further assessed-as HA or TA increased the production of ROS decreased. The inhibition of bacterial viability in the light treatment groups, with respective treatment organics at concentrations of 10 ppm, was less in TA than in terrestrial HA. SAS was used to analyze the treatment effect of individual factors of light irradiation, DOM, and concentration of TiO2 NPs.

In this study,the cytotoxicity of two different crystal phases of TiO2 nanoparticles,with surface modification by humic acid（HA）,to Escherichia coli,was *** physicochemical properties of TiO2 nanoparticles were thoroughly *** different initial concentrations,namely 50,100,and 200 ppm,of HA were used for synthesis of HA coated TiO2 nanoparticles（denoted as A/RHA50,A/RHA100,and A/RHA200,respectively）.Results indicate that rutile（LC50（concentration that causes 50%mortality compared the control group）=6.5）was more toxic than anatase（LC50=278.8）under simulated sunlight（SSL）irradiation,possibly due to an extremely narrow band *** is noted that HA coating increased the toxicity of anatase,but decreased that of ***,AHA50 and RHA50had the biggest differences compared to uncoated anatase and rutile with LC50of 201.9 and21.6,*** then investigated the formation of reactive oxygen species（ROS）by TiO2 nanoparticles in terms of hydroxyl radicals（OH）and superoxide anions（O2^-）.Data suggested that O2^- was the main ROS that accounted for the higher toxicity of rutile upon SSL *** also observed that HA coating decreased the generation of OH and O2^- on rutile,but increased O2^- formation on *** from TEM analysis also indicated that HA coated rutile tended to be attached to the surface of *** more than anatase.

AIM:To investigate the efficiency of levobupivacaine in treating experimentally induced colitis in ***:Colitis was induced by trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid and ethanol in 30 rats under general anesthesia,and 10 rats were used as a sham *** to induction of colitis,rats were divided into three groups;budesonide group received 0.1 mg/kg budesonide,levobupivacaine group received 10 mg/kg levobupivacaine and saline group received 1 mL saline solution via rectal route for 7 *** the sham group,only routine rectal catheterization was performed without use of any *** the end of 7 d,laparotomy and total colectomy were performed for histopathological ex-amination in all rats and blood samples were drawn for measurement of tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αand interleukin(IL)-6 following cardiac *** and microscopic evaluations of the specimens were performed by a pathologist blinded to group assignment of the ***:Weight loss(P=0.016)and macroscopic examination scores(P=0.001)were significantly higher in saline group than *** scoring was comparable between all colitis groups(P=0.350).There was no significant difference in TNF-αlevels and IL-6 levels(P=0.150).CONCLUSION:The significant improvement in macroscopic scores suggests that levobupivacaine may have topical anti-inflammatory effects in an experimental colitis model;however,this finding was not supported by microscopic findings.

We present a case of tuberculous peritonitis in a 46-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis treated with adalimumab, and we review the association between anti-tumour necrosis factor therapy and tuberculosis. This case illustrates that tuberculosis can develop with atypical clinic and uncertain laboratory findings and may mimic malignancies during adalimumab therapy.

The use of organic wastes, as an alternative to inorganic fertilizer, can be an important strategy for Brazilian and tropical agriculture. Despite the importance, few field studies have been done for evaluating organic amendments on soybean crops in Brazil. The study aimed to evaluate the residual effects of the organic amendments poultry litter, farmyard manure and biochar combined with mineral fertilizer on some agronomic attributes of a soybean crop. A field experiment was carried out in a split-split-plot scheme, with three replicates in a randomized block experimental design. The organic sources (plots) at rates of 0, 3, 6 and 9 Mg·ha-1 (subplots) combined with 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg·ha-1 (sub subplots) of a mineral fertilizer were applied in 2008. In 2009, only the mineral fertilizer was used on the soybean crop. As a?result, all evaluated attributes were influenced by the treatments, except for the number of grains per pod. The application of poultry litter provided the highest yield (3715 kg·ha-1 using 9 Mg·ha-1 of the source). A synergistic effect between organic amendments and mineral fertilizer was observed. It was found the possibility of decrease doses of mineral fertilizers by prior use of organic amendments. The most effective dose combination application is 5.5 Mg·ha-1 of organic amendments associated with 200 kg·ha-1 of mineral fertilizer to provide optimum yield. The use of organic amendments, rich in nutrients, is a technology to sustainably increase the soybean grain yield.
