Portal vein thrombosis(PVT) may occur in liver cirrhosis patients. Malignant PVT is a common complication in cirrhotic patients with concomitant hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and, in some cases, it may be even the initial sign of an undetected HCC. Detection of malignant PVT in a patient with liver cirrhosis heavily affects the therapeutic strategy. Gray-scale ultrasound(US) is widely unreliable for differentiating benign and malignant thrombi. Although effective for this differential diagnosis, fine-needle biopsy remains an invasive technique. Sensitivity of color-doppler US in detection of malignant thrombi is highly dependent on the size of the thrombus. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT) and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance(MRI) can be useful to assess the nature of portal thrombus, while limited data are currently available about the role of positron emission tomography(PET) and PET-CT. In contrast with CT, MRI, PET, and PET-CT, contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) is a fast, effective, well tolerated and cheap technique, that can be performed even in the same session in which the thrombus has been detected. CEUS can be performed bedside and can be available also in transplanted patients. Moreover, CT and MRI only yield a snapshot analysis during contrast diffusion, while CEUS allows for a continuous real-time imaging of the microcirculation that lasts several minutes, so that the whole arterial phase and the late parenchymal phase of the contrast diffusion can be analyzed continuously by real-time US scanning. Continuous real-time monitoring of contrast diffusion entails an easy detection of thrombus maximum enhancement. Moreover, continuous quantitative analyses of enhancement(wash in- wash out studies) by CEUS during contrast diffusion is nowadays available in most CEUS machines, thus giving a more sophisticated and accurate evaluation of the contrast distribution and an increased confidence in diagnosis in difficult cases. In this article, the aptitude of natural gas as feedstock in steam reforming process for hydrogen production is compared with that of different liquid fuels （pure compounds and commercial fuels）, with the aim to investigate the potentialities of biofuels to overcome the CO2 emission problems deriving from fossil fuel processing. The performances of a nickel based catalyst （commercially used in steam reforming of natural gas） were evaluated in terms of feed conversion and yield to the different products as function of temperature, space velocity and water/fuel ratio. Furthermore, a preliminary evaluation of catalyst durability was effected by monitoring yield to H2 versus time on stream and measuring coke formation at the end of experimental tests. High yields to hydrogen were obtained with all fuels investigated, whereas the deactivation phenomena, which are correlated to carbon deposition on the catalyst, were observed with all tested fuels, except for methane and biofuel.

Chronic liver disease is characterized by several hematological derangements resulting in a complex and barely rebalanced haemostatic *** is the most common abnormality observed in these patients and recent advances have led to researchers focus the attention on the multifactorial origin of thrombocytopenia and on the key role of thrombopoietin(TPO)in its *** thrombocytopenia(platelet countdisease by increasing the potential risk of bleeding for invasive procedures,which may be therefore delayed or canceled even if *** the very last years,the development of new drugs which exceed the limits of the current standard of care(platelet transfusions,either immediately before or during the procedure)paves the way to a new scenario in the management of this population of *** agents,such as the TPOreceptor agonists avatrombopag and lusutrombopag,have been developed in order to increase platelet production as an alternative to platelet *** agents have demonstrated a good profile in terms of efficacy and safety and will hopefully allow reducing limitations and risks associated with platelet transfusion,without any delay in scheduled ***,it is expected that patients with chronic liver disease will be able to face invasive procedures with one more string in their bow.

Recently, Suzuki [T. Suzuki characterizes metric completeness, Proc. A generalized Banach contractlon principle that Amer. Math. Soc. 136 （2008）, 1861-1869] proved a fixed point theorem that is a generalization of the Banach contraction principle and char- acterizes the metric completeness. Paesano and Vetro [D. Paesano and P. Vetro, Suzuki＇s type characterizations of completeness for partial metric spaces and fixed points for partially ordered metric spaces, Topology Appl., 159 （2012）, 911-920] proved an analogous fixed point result for a self-mapping on a partial metric space that characterizes the partial metric O- completeness. In this article, we introduce the notion of partial G-metric spaces and prove a result of Suzuki type in the setting of partial G-metric spaces. We deduce also a result of common fixed point.

Background:Nanotechnologies promise to improve disease diagnosis and treatment,overcoming the limitations of conventional *** particular,extracellular vesicles(EVs)and artificial vesicles(AVs)are strongly emerging tools in nanomedicine(Leggio et al.,2020).EVs are cell-derived membrane structures secreted after the fusion of endosomes with the plasma membrane(exosomes)or shed from the plasma membrane(microvesicles).EVs are released by different brain cells(neurons,oligodendrocytes,astrocytes,and microglia)and constitute a physiological intercellular communication ***,EVs can deliver different types of molecules(nucleic acids and proteins),which often influence the phenotype of the recipient *** play a physiological role in the central nervous system(CNS),such as development,myelination,regeneration,and synaptic activity(Lai et al.,2012).Due to their content,EVs could therefore constitute an important biomarker for neurodegenerative diseases,represent ca.didates for therapeutic use,enclosing regulatory molecules,or be considered as vectors for brain drug delivery(Croese et al.,2018).

The design of high voltage and medium voltage AC and DC standoff insulators,and,in general,of insulation systems where surface and interface properties are predominant factors,is based on specifications and standards that rely upon long-term experiences and lab *** insulating properties depend on electrical and thermal stresses,besides environmental factors,and the inception of extrinsic ageing phenomena,such as partial discharges,can be already a cause of reduced reliability and premature failure(for organic insulating materials).An innovative approach,based on field simulation,discharge modelling,and partial discharge inception measurements is presented by the authors,which can establish a solid basis to optimise insulation design for any type of supply voltage *** method,the three-leg approach,is applied here to a cable system under AC sinusoidal voltage,but it can work for any type of insulation system,such as bushings,switch gears,transformers,rotating machines,and power electronics boards.
